By Shmayd
1v1's are more than just a 'pointless' thing people do for competition. There are a lot of benefits to 1v1ing that many others should learn!

How You 1v1
1v1's are a lot different than you think but are easier. You start off with the map Rainbow, since its the biggest, and you head out to the middle. You build all 3 of the towers on your half of the map and your opponent builds all 3 on their side. Then you kill each others Bots until they return to your castle, this may take a few kills. once that is done, you and your foe get into place, recommended that they are at the top of screen on the highest camera angle. when this is done you ready up with an uppercut, rapidly double tap RT, or quickly left click. you wait for your opponent to uppercut and you fight.

here is an example of a 1v1

The score lines for 1v1's are first to 10, or first to 5 best of 3.
How 1v1's help and benefit you
Honestly 1v1's improve defense skill a whole lot. if you couldnt fight or fend off enemies you would be pretty useless at that. by 1v1ing you're learning how to combine skills and hits that can keep your castle safe, quick hit disenchant, smash attack buying you time focus on your next foe. the only thing 1v1ing doesnt really teach on defense is how to avoid being trolled.
1v1's can improve how you play cleric because learning how to chain hits on warrior; quick hit uppercut disenchant, it teaches you how to fend stronger enemies off as a weaker class rather than just free swinging like crazy.
they don't help with map awareness but it does help with spacial awareness as 1v1's force you to keep an eye on your enemy which gives you a good understanding of the area around you and him. this can also help with looking at where enemies can strike you from and how you can prevent this.
1v1's not only build yourself but also those you play with as if you 1v1 with someone often it can help him and you build counters to certain strategies and play styles. it also allows you to try different stuff having a certain player who's almost equal to you on skill level.
1v1's also help with tower control as having the battle skill can help keep enemies away from towers and kill those trying to take it. if you are being taken on by multiple enemies at a time you can use those 1v1 capabilities to focus on damaging 1 enemy to the point where they must retreat so you can keep another enemy away.
a lot of people look down on 1v1's too much without realising the massive advantages 1v1's give to all modes. they dont just benefit how you play warrior but how you play other classes and how you can fill out certain roles in quick match.

I have around 2000 to 2500 hours experience in 1v1's and they have made me a better player than i would ever be if i didnt begin 1v1ing
