Setup Guide
4GB MCTF - Multi-Core Threading Fix, for short

One thing to note: If you have run the game in the past, you could have older ini files that need deleted first. If this is the case, first delete all files in the "documents/mygames/fallout3", all but the save game folder.

Then do the following.

Step One - Set Your Ingame GPU

Go to Windows10 Settings, System, Display, Graphics settings
Click Browse and goto the game folder
Steam: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 3 (goty)
GOG: C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Fallout 3
Epic Games: C:\Program Files\Epic Games\fallout3\Fallout 3 GOTY English
Select the Fallout3.exe

Once selected Fallout3.exe will appear under the "Browse" button.
Select it and click "options", select High performance and save.
(Use the AMD or Nvidia setting if available)
This will set the GPU for you.
You can do the same for any other games you have.

If Just Using an Intel GPU

Goto the following link and download the intel bypass file.
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/17209/?
Use the d3d9.dll only. Place in the game folder.

Try running the game and check it.

Step Two - Add The 4GB Large Address Aware and Multi-Core Threading Fix

Simple Apply the 3 file changes as described in the mod below.
Full information and installation available through the below mod links.

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/21888
or here:

Video's Provided

Full Vanilla Playthrough Main Quest with Just this fix added.
No Crashes or Errors, uncut/unedited recordings

Step Three - Please restart your system. Run Game Normally.

*Note: For Users with Higher mHz Monitors, if you experience excessive game speeds, also install the excessive speed fix provided on the listed mod from step two.

*** German version: you probably will also need the winlive fix, since that never had winlive removed, Winlive fix here

@Brodiny The only way to fully remove the UFP patch is to do a clean install. You need to uninstall and also delete the game folder to clear it out of the game.

I am afraid I've painted myself into a corner using Updated Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch, and if I try to remove it now it'll break a lot

It should work with it and any other mod fine. But UFP can cause it's own issues that cannot be corrected as they are inherent to the mod itself.

I was wondering do you know if this works with Updated Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch? (No stress if you don't)
Carinth  [author] 14 Mar, 2024 @ 9:43pm
@Nanachi not just a recording overlay, but a graphics overlay or program overlay. A background program that could be running that. The radeon overlay is known to cause issues in several games.
Here's an example of what I mean https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/which-background-program-is-making-my-games-crash.3269272/#post-20047068
https://help.ea.com/en/help/origin/origin/programs-that-may-cause-conflicts-with-origin/
If you are using discord, turn off it's overlay. Things like that.

Best way to test is to do a clean boot on windows by disabling your start up apps and testing to see if the problem is resolved. If it is you then know it is one of the apps causing the issue.

Get back to me on this and I will then try some alternatives

No, i have zero recording overlays when loading the game (also sorry for the wait got busy for a long time)
Carinth  [author] 14 Mar, 2024 @ 12:57pm
@Nanachi are you using any overlays, , say an enb or other type of program, recording type overlay?
Normally if the game is able to start loading, but kicks out after a moment it is a good indicator of an overlay issue.

Unfortunately, this didn't work for me. But raven is correct it is very clear, for hardware im running an amd radeon 7900 xtx and a amd ryzen 9 5950x, and as for start-up issues i can get as far as the second tic of the loading circle after clicking new game then it crashes, if your willing to help i would greatly appreciate it.
Carinth  [author] 10 Mar, 2024 @ 10:31am
@Raven thanks, may I ask what hardware are you using? I maybe able to suggest something that could help. As well as the type of start-up issue you're having.

Unfortunately, this didn't work for me. I appreciate the clarity and the work tho, you are awesome.
