1. Do not go hover face to face with a player-controlled shark (PCS) and shoot at it. You will die.

2. If you must fight a PCS, outmaneuver it. Swim above it as it dives, below it as it rises. You have 3 dimensions in which to move. If you have a flashbang, that helps to disorient the PCS.

3. Know the map. You need a gun, you need ammo, you need to know where the oxygen is as you run low, and you need to know the spaces the PCS can't fit.

4. Play with sound on. There are music cues when sharks are near or on the attack. That alert can mean the difference between escape and death.

5. Hide. Shark can't eat what shark can't find. Or reach. Shipwrecks, buses, airplanes, storefronts—every map has spaces a PCS can't fit. Also, be aware divers leave a trail of blood that is highly visible to the PCS. Try to stay at full health (currently it is possible to spawn and immediately have a blood trail, so be advised).

6. Work together. More pew-pew means shark dies faster. Shark has no AOE attack so he can't kill more than 1 diver at a time. Even if you're not coordinating, if you see the PCS occupied with another diver, that's the time to attack it.

7. Shark regenerates health, the rate depending on how many divers. Single sniper shots won't do much. Bursts and volleys work better. If you respawn in the same area as the PCS, go chip its health again before it can regenerate.

8. Sometimes it takes more than one life to kill the PCS. Don't ragequit.
