Rage Notes - General Information and Bonuses.
By Redback
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Buy the ‘Monocular Sight’ for your settler’s pistol as soon as you can, (from Hagar). Just after ‘Dan’ shoots the two ‘Ghost Bandits’ at the very beginning, turn around and loot their bodies for money before jumping into Dan’s vehicle. Don’t buy the ‘Auto Rifle’ yet!
When you are told to get weapons for your vehicle, you will have to earn ‘Race Certificates’, (obtainable in Wellsprings). Once achieved buy the ‘Rocket Launcher’ on easier levels and the ‘Minigun’ on ‘Ultra Nightmare’ only as it is easier to win certificates for initially. You collect more race certificates from killing bandits and then will be able to buy a ‘Rocket Launcher’ pretty quickly anyway, then use extra certificates for vehicle upgrades. You get miniguns free when you obtain your last vehicle ‘The Monarch’ at Subwaytown.
Keep a minimum of 50 rockets for your vehicle at all times, 75 or so is good as this quantity allows you to take on more missions without having to go back to town to get more.
Do not buy the ‘Authority MG’ or ammo, you get one free in the ‘Shrouded Bunker’ mission through locked door early on and plenty of ammo is available as you go on missions.
Upgrade weapons as soon as possible and carry plenty of powered ‘Crossbow Darts’, ‘Fat Mammas’, ‘Shotgun Shells’ and ‘Wingsticks’ (which are quiet and lethal on all enemies).
Keep going back to ‘Crazy Joe’s’ and ‘Ghost Hideout’ for flowers to boost up you cash. Even after you have reached Subwaytown, keep going back. You can get easy cash from ‘Mutant Bash’ as well as there are no restrictions on how many times you go back after the initial 2.
Use your fists where you can to save ammo, particularly on small muties and the guys in ‘Ghost Hideout’.
When fighting small muties in the sewers back into the narrow hallways and doorways and wait for them to follow you in, the restricted space stops them from rushing and surrounding you. You can then pick them off one by one, even with you fists.
‘Fat Mommas’ are one of the best upgrades to use on headshots against all enemies for just about everything and generally one will do.
Blowing people up should be done only when absolutely necessary as you lose all available items/money etc., which normally can be looted from their bodies. Certainly in the early stages of the game you need to accumulate as much wealth as you can, much of your ammo is collected as a matter of course all over the place.
Collect every piece of junk you find tins, books, flowers every time you see them, they add up considerably. Also, remember to check everything you can everywhere you can for items to sell, you will be surprised what’s available. (I have absolutely no idea how this guy can carry a huge range of weapons, hundreds of rounds of ammo and all manner of garbage and still manage to kill everything he comes in contact with). To add to this, he can drive a range of assorted vehicles totally unencumbered at the same time.

BONUSES FOUND IN RETURNS TO DEAD CITY:
Once you have completed your initial job to collect your ‘Defibrillator Upgrade’, you can return as many times as you like to find 15 – 20 ‘Mutant Bone Heaps’ scattered all around the place.
You will also encounter many cranky muties trying to stop you stealing their loot. Items such as ‘bandages, ammo, turret barrels small gears’ etc, saves you plenty when you need to stock up on items for recipes and general items. The ‘ATM’s’ will also pay out money.
You can keep doing this until you finally are told to go back there by ‘Captain Marshall’ just before you leave Wellsprings.

BONUS MONEY IN MUTANT BASH TV:
Once you have successfully completed level (5), look around the walls and find the ‘Octopus’ with only three lights on the end of tentacles and with you shotgun shoot the lights from right to left (only). Now look at the waves below them and you will see a big fish appear at the left above the waves, shoot the fish and it will continue to come up two more times across the wall. Each time you shoot him you will add $200 to you tally for when you leave (normally an extra $600 total). You can keep going back and repeat the process if you wish each time you replay the mission. Great if you are short of cash.

BONUS IN BLUE LINE TUNNELS and GEARHEAD VAULT:
Once you have completed both designated missions to these areas, you can keep going back to raid all ‘ATM’s and Coin Operated Machines’ for ready cash and will be under no threat. Again, great if you need extra money to help you survive.

RAGE DLC (THE SCORCHERS)
The first extra mission is CAVERNESS RUMBLES in the ‘Hagar Caves’. Early on in the mission you will come across a body with an ‘Automatic Rifle’ that you can pick up with ammo, so don’t by one from the supply store at Dan’s place if you don’t want to.
At the end of the mission you will also be given a ‘Nail Gun’, the nails and the last upgrade which allows you to shoot through walls are next to useless. However, the ‘Rebar’ loads are brilliant for killing just about anything and you can recover the rebar you have fired (in most cases) even if it has been fired into a wall. The downside is that it is single shot and slow to reload, (even though it does so automatically).

I play almost exclusively with the settler pistol using fat mammas, and wingsticks. The other weapons are pretty much useless except the sniper rifle and rocket launcher. Also, once you get to crescent city and get the 'advanced' wingsticks and sentry bots it's all over! Those advanced wingsticks are badass! Try going back to play mutant bash with them. Awesome!

The only rounds I buy are the shotgun, rockets, the rest I pick up through the game, just use the one you have the most ammo for and then swap it when you've built up enough of all the others, easy, using the rebar is very useful in the early part of the game to save ammo.

buy the way man, you goofed on the last part concerning the nails and the Railgun attachment for the Nailgun......

the Nails are actually pretty useful on grunt mutants and un-armored bandits (like the Ghost Clan guys), but the strategy to get the full usage, is to lure them into narrow spaces so they won't be jumping all over the place.

as for the Railgun, you can actually use the scope to highlight the enemies' heat-signatures so you'll know where they are (for which you can actually get the drop on them before they could react. not to mention, the Railgun Slugs is best used on unreachable enemies that are too far away to loot their bodies.

Hi Eagle, to be truthful I am not sure. But if it helps you, I have an SSD that I use only for my OS and a few special progs. I run Steam, Uplay and Origin (plus a heap of games) on one of my HDD's (which BTW is almost full) and and the balance of games (and all new additions) on my second HDD and all runs smoothly. Alternatively, you can uninstall games from your SSD and then re-install on your new drive and of course just nominate the new location when you do so. I have done this successfully for similar reasons to yourself. Hope this helps.

OK ... But you could have saved us all the gruesome detail, you know. As with my games and movies, I don't like to know what's coming up down the line. :steammocking:

Well Mr. Henrimagne (my good friend), it's like this. When you get to my age and you suffer from 'incontinence', 'memory loss', 'disorientation' and regular bouts of 'involuntary bowel movement' missing the occasional item in games becomes somewhat insignificant! Just completing a game is seen to be a major achievement and that is after you have remembered how to turn on your damn computer.......Hell, did I take my medication today?.....Good to have you back....I think....

I knew about the parking meter, Red. That's real sloppy of you, mate. ... :steamhappy:

Thanks, interesting as well. I was not aware of the parking meter at Ghost Hideout!

Very helpful. I would note that a player with the Crimson Elite or Wastelander outfit should buy the Authority MG. These players get a 5% discount for their purchases. When these players find the gun during the Shrouded Clan mission, they are awarded $500 for a gun they paid $475. Also, there is a parking meter near the Comet Bloom plant found near the Ghost Hideout. It contains anywhere from 1-4 dollars, when it pays out.
