Tactician/EE/Advanced Guide
By Ssenkrad_II
You want a real guide written by someone who has put in 500+ hours into DOS; Original + EE, by someone who actually knows what they are talking about? Tired of starting the game over again because your party just isn't cutting it? Want to know the "do's and don'ts" that will make even Tactician a breeze?

Too bad you didn't find this guide earlier...

Overview; Why this guide?
Frankly I was tired of reading all of the outdated or flat out worthless advice being throw around in guides and in the forums by people who have in some cases not even beaten the game a single time. I am coming from multiple playthroughs on both the Original as well as the EE, and I am one of the few people who don't think that you can blanket sweep the EE with a "everything is just better in the EE!" brush, so my advice is also not hindered or clouded by "fan boi" eyes/judgement. Thanks for reading, and if you have any questions feel free to drop a comment below, on the website, or on the thread in the forums. Don't forget to upvote!

Hello Ssenkrad_II, I have just finished my first playthrough on Classic Mode, and your guide regarding characters was really helpful! So thanks. I would like to ask which walkthrough would you recommend (in text, I don't much like videos) for Tactician and above, if there is one. I had been using the TrueAchievements one and it did serve me relatively well. It did not mention the Spider Queen however!

Noob's question, Part2
I was mainly interested on advice for people like me, that have never played DOS before.
From what I put together we should strive to get some stats high but not too high as there are objects that give us bonuses... Considering I don't know what happens when, I would find very useful a simpler breakdown of:

"For that knight I suggest you take as a Companion, by level 5 have her with stats more or less like: XXX and you should equip her with the sword of A. Before you go to the Forest, try to have stats YYY. "
etc.

I apologize if that is somewhere in the guide and I missed it.

Best regards and thank you for your efforts.

Noob's question, Part1
First, a big "thank you"
Coming from a noob, some constructive criticism, mostly about the linked guide in text (I prefer text to videos):

This guide is addressed to people that know what they are about.
While I am sure this guide would be very useful for people that have invested time in the game, it is not easy to follow for beginners that don't even have a vague idea what stats they should shoot for.

Bow skill adds 50-55% extra damage (skill levels 5-6) while Xbow adds % crit chance and crit damage which don't affect EM skills or special arrows.

The amount of detail and information found in your guide/website is astounding to say the least.
Well done sir and thank you! :btd6thumbsup:

I have two questions if you could answer.
1. Bows vs Crossbows for rangers, are bows universally better still or did they patch them up?
2. What if a ranger with a crossbow sticks to primary attacks (they can crit), won't it overpass the bow in raw damage in mid-late game? Is that even relevant?

This is the best build guide for DOS EE on the Internet. Thank you for helping me finally get the honor mode achievement. PRO TIP for anyone looking at these builds: You can't just rely on the one-page pictures above. You need to read the descriptions in the longer guide on how to play early, mid and end. Madora is fairly similar throughout, and you archer doesn't drastically change, but your grenade wizard and shadowblade will change A LOT. I didn't realize at first that I was using them wrong as they seemed under powered. The problem was that I was using their weapons in melee, but the strength of the crafted weapons is really how much their bonuses allow you to use them as mages raining down powerful spells. It takes a mindshift, but once you start using them correctly, you realize that your group has gone from underpowered to OP. The final boss was a breeze, which was a relief for honor mode since I didn't want to see all those hours go to waste!
