Introduction. What is the UR-Dragon and why should you be bothered? Rewards.
In this guide I will describe the Ur-Dragon, one of the must rewarding bosses of the game. Minor spoilers ahead. The guide will be expanding over time, and I will be adding vids.
The guide contains info from the DDDA Wiki[dragonsdogma.wikia.com].
There are two versions of the UR-Dragon - Offline and Online.
You can switch between these versions in the options - set connectivity to online to fight the online dragon, or offline to fight offline.
He can be accessed in the Post-game, in the Everfall, floor 7, the Chamber of Lament.

The chamber has two distinct entrances:
Via the physical entrance to the Chamber of Lament in the Post-Game Everfall. If entering via the Everfall entrance, the player must exit the Everfall via the Pawn Guild gate or by Ferrystone in order to re-spawn the Ur for the next encounter.

In New Game Plus a special Rift Stone appears on the beach of Starfall Bay in Cassardis. Exiting the Rift Stone to Starfall Bay's beach is sufficient to re-spawn the Ur for the next encounter.

Offline is a boss similar to Grigori.
Online is the same boss, but with his health stored on Capcom servers. Online is meant to be challanged by much players, so he has incredibly high HP compared to Offline version.

For defeating any of versions, you will get diffrent rewards:

For killing Offline version:
One of the following weapons: Ascalon, Heaven's Key, or Volant White
Wakestone (x20)
Seven random items, such as Balmy Perfume, Seeker's Tokens, Wakestone Shards, additional Wakestones and/or Ferrystones.

For killing Online version while he is in the GP(Explanation later) OR kill the Ur-Dragon just prior to GP:
Four Ur-Dragon reward weapons
(Of following
Angel's Fist
Dwells-In-Light
Lambent Shield
Lustrous Greatshield
Talarian White
Totem Mace
Volant White
Ascalon
Heaven's Key)
20 Wakestones
The Abyssinal Coat, Abyssinal Bracers, and Abyssinal Greaves
One mask, either Siegfried's Mask, Saint George Mask, Beowulf Mask, or Apollo Mask

He will also dragonforge all your dragonforgable equipment. The chance is 100% even for 0 star items.

OR, if kill was not taken in GP, or prior:
Over ten battles, over 1.2 million damage: Wakestone, Ferrystone, 8 random rewards*
Over 5 battles, over 500,000 damage: Wakestone, Ferrystone, 6 random rewards*
3-5 battles, over 300,000 damage: Ambrosial Meat, wakestone shard, 5 random rewards*
Minimum effort Ambrosial Meat, wakestone shard, 2 random rewards*

If a kill was not taken, weapons listed above will be given as random rewards at a low (eg 1-2%) probability.
*Other rewards include:
Ur-Dragon reward weapons listed above
Ferrystone
Seeker's Token
Wakestone Shard
Rift Crystals
Periapts
Coin Pouches

You will also unlock an achievement if you slay any of these versions.
Offline ver. tactics
This section includes tactics for all classes.

General tips
First of all, according to Wiki, UR-Dragon's stats are
Health Attack Defence Magick Attack Magick Defense Weight
1,470,000 3,600 380 1,300 380 100,000kg
Slash Bash Fire Ice Thunder Holy Dark
100% 100% 75% 75% 75% 125% 30%

This means that he is weak to holy damage, and high resistant to dark. This is where you should start. Bring holy enchantments or holy weapons.

Bring at least 16 of Demon's periapts if you use magic, or Conquerer's if you use strength.
Apply 4 of them at the same time for maximum damage. They stack up to 4, so do not use more than 4.

Have Weal(X2 exp) granting tools. These are:
Veteran's Periapt
Pilgrim's Charm
Martyr's Talisman
Mage's Talisman

Each lasts for 5 minutes. You can get Pilgrim's Charms from Fournival, Matyr's talisman from Barroch, Mage's talismans from certain chests or loot, Veteran's Periapts from Fournival during Post-Game and high affinity.

The battle itself

The Dragon arrives, roaring and is ready to hurt you. Your general tactic is to stagger him as much as you can, because he is quite nimble, and will hurt you if you will fail at staggering, or won't evade.
To damage him, you will need to inflict damage to his hearts. When enough damage is inflicted, a heart glows, explodes, and the Dragon drops some materials you can pick up, then your attacks to damaged area will not count.

Recommended augments

I recommend any str/mag boosting augments that you have - like Clout.
If you are having trouble, get Bloodlust and fight at night.
Or even kill your pawns and get Autonomy.

And now, for the classes.

First of all, the best for UR farming, Sorcerer. Or mage.
Sorcerer's tactic is enchanting his weapon with Holy Affinity/Pact, and striking with Focused Bolt. The orbs will pierce the beast, dealing massive damage, so position yourself correctly to deal more damage.
High Maelstrom will stagger him.
High Seism will do a lot of damage, if you succeed at casting it, but I doubt that you will. He will not give you that much time.
Mage is not recommended because his weapons are weaker than Sorcerer's.

Second best is MK - Mystic Knight
Enchant yourself with holy power, cast Abyssal Anguish, and get your Great Cannons in place. Place 1-2 of these. Strike them and he will eventually die.

Assassin/Strider/Ranger/Magick Archer
These should attack with hundred/thousand kisses and five/tenfold flurry with blast arrows equipped. BRING STAMINA RESTORING ITEMS!
Your best weapon will be Heaven's Key. It drops from the UR-Dragon and has holy enchantment on it.
Magick archer is not recommended because he will not be powerful enough. But if you insist, Hunter Bolt should do the trick. It does holy damage.

Fighter/Warrior
These are the worst choise to fight this boss due to lack of ranged attacks and not recommended by ANYONE.
That is, because it is very difficult to get to the dragon's wings.
Online ver.
The online ver. differs from offline not too much.
It gets staggered harder, has a ton of health, but doing same damage as offline, and rewards are better.
You cannot slay him alone, but you must contribute your damage in order for him to be slain by the community. Every bit counts, remember that.
You have 8 minutes to deal damage, then he flies away, and the battle is over.

Damage Cap.

Online version has anti-cheat protection, which will not count your damage if you break the damage cap. To avoid the damage cap, re-enter the chamber when you feel that you've done big amount of damage, or godsbane. Currently it might be easy to break the damage cap since most players have high level / top weapons.

In order to make sure your damage counted, at the end of the battle, wait for the "Accessing Server" text. If it appeared, your damage is counted. If not, it's not counted.

Check current Gen tread and look for posts where anyone mentions damage cap.

How to not lose consumables
You will need at least 32 periapts suitable for your class for the fight. However there is a trick you can use to avoid their disappearance.
It is simple. When you enter the chamber, SAVE. When fight is over, and flies away, after you receive the "Accessing Server" message, sacrifice yourself use godsbane, do not use a wakestone, and press retry.
You will appear where you last saved, and you will have your 32 periapts still with you, if you had them when you saved.
If you do not have a godsbane, ask for it anyone who has it, when pawn renting will be fixed. Former owners can buy another at Black Cat.

Maker's Finger
Fournival, your best friend, sells a curious little item called Maker's Finger for 300k. You can only have one in your stash AND inventory. When you use it, Fournival restocks another, and you can buy it again.
What it does - it kills any enemy, dealing one dot (1/10 hp) damage to Grigori, or destroys one Ur-Dragon's heart on hit.
Do not forge it at Black cat, it will not work.
To use it you must equip it, then shoot. This is only usable by bow-wielding classes, because it is an arrow.
When you shoot, game auto saves, and if you godsbane, you will not get it back. Aim carefully.

Class tactics
They are the same, but do not expect to stagger this one so easly, as I've said.
Fighter, Warrior, Mag.Archer, Mage are still not recommended.
GRACE PERIOD (GP)
Grace period, Grace, or GP is when UR-Dragon gets his life to 0, meaning someone has killed him.
Killing him in that state rewards you with listed above. Dragon's health is very low during this period. It is over 0.05 or lower.
When you walk into the chamber and see that he is in GP, pause rush to forums, find a current Generation topic and message #grace. This will allow users to know that he is weak and will finish him, claiming the rewards.
During GP he has 2-3 hearts.
You can only kill him once during each GP. He can be killed by unlimited amount of players in a single GP.
Console ver GP was 45 minutes long, but not always. PC version has short GP at the moment, varying from a minute to 45.
Weak URs have very short GP - a minute, or two.
Reporting UR's health
When you enter the chamber, look at his health. Then look here: http://i.imgur.com/TZaO5Ns.jpg (pic courtesy of wolfzblood77)
First number is dots, second is as shown on the picture.
For example, if he has all dots, and 2/3 of the line filled, then the number will be over 10.6.
If he has full HP, this is 11, or 10.99
Then find a current topic on the Steam forums, in the Ur-Dragon subforum, and write the number.
Do this BEFORE the fight, not after.
This helps keeping track of his health, and GP.
GP Notifications.
There is a great free addon on the Google Chrome webstore called AUTO REFRESH PLUS. You can use it to auto refresh pages at set time, and scan for words/combinations you need.

How to set up the addon

Step 1. Go to settings, scroll down to "Page Monitor", check "enable this feature".
Step 2. Set default target text to "#grace" without the "", of course.
Step 3. Set the play sound to any that you like, or choose your own. Set the volume so that you will be able to hear it.
Step 4. Make sure that "Play intill I click the notification" is checked. Because if you go away from keyboard, you can miss the notification.

How to use it

Go to the current Gen page, MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE CHECKED THE 50 MESSAGES PER PAGE, click the addon in top right, set it to 10 seconds, and type #grace in the box below. Click Start.

There you go. When someone says #grace, you will receive a notification.

F.A.Q.
Is the Ur-dragon healing?
Reply from Gamefaqs DDDA forums:

Capcom confirmed that HE DOES NOT HEAL. There is a generally accepted theory that there are at least 4 versions/instances of the Ur Dragon, each with their own health points, thus the varying amounts of HP when you enter the Chamber of Lament. When one of these versions dies, all versions will sync and we will have Grace Period. There are instances when there is a big difference between the health points of different versions, so as to prevent the players from concentrating on the Ur with the lowest HP, the server will redistribute Ur's health.

How do I know, do I do any damage, or not?
Originally posted by nhankins7:
You are doing damage. It's just that Online Ur has a tremendous amount of HP and it takes a lot of players around the world to bring his HP down to zero, thus activating Grace Period. Also be sure to observe the blood that is coming out of Ur when you attack him. Purple Blood = damage, Brown Blood = no damage. Hit the glowing spots (hearts) in order to draw purple blood, and do damage. If you can't destroy his hearts during GP, then you aren't doing enough damage.

The Ur-Dragon has roosted on some building and I can not reach him!
Originally posted by nhankins7:
Going to the West side of the chamber will help discourage Ur from roosting above the tower; while going onto the ledges on the East side of the chamber will often encourage roosting. Ur should be less likely to roost once all 4 wing hearts are destroyed.

How to save my damage if I'm afraid that I will break the damage cap?
Originally posted by ashfalor Ur:
Like do about 0.2 dmg (apparently around there is the cap) then use godsbane or ferrystone out and it'll get saved.

Originally posted by Liquid∞Blight:
Dying(Godsbaning included), leaving the chamber in any way, or waiting for the fight end triggers the damage save. If you see the Accessing Server message, your damage is counted. If you ALT+F4 (Force quit), game will not have a chance to save your damage to server, thus it will be lost.

Will I get exp benefits from Hard Mode?
No, Online and Offline Ur-Dragons both do not share Hard Mode benefits or anything related.

I am dealing too much damage to current generation compared to previous ones, this never happened before!
This means that this generation is WEAK!
immediately report this to the current gen topic!
Weak generation means that the dragon has very low defences and health. He will be dead shortly, so stay watchful!

UR is in Grace, but when I enter, I see a message that he has been defeated and I can take the loot.
Take the loot, and re-enter the chamber fast. You still can engage him in GP. This is probably a bug.
If that did not work, then GP is over.

Also submit your own questions in the comment section.
Epilogue.
I will update this guide when I'll have more info regarding the topic. To create this guide I have researched DDDA Wiki, Gamefaqs forums, which I was at when I played DDDA on PS3, and used my personal research data.

So let's say I hit 4 diffirent dragons in the same spot which will rot away the damage I've done will stack in the end?
blight  [author] 20 Dec, 2016 @ 10:44am
There actually are different online versions of Ur-Dragon, probably 4. Your damage was not nullified, you just saw a different version of it. Its versions' hp will scale eventually to be equal.
YouniverSe 20 Dec, 2016 @ 7:58am
I thought damage cap doesn't stack each time you enter the room
john fortnite 20 Dec, 2016 @ 6:58am
Don't take my word for it, but I'm pretty certain that that is the damage cap being reach right there.
YouniverSe 20 Dec, 2016 @ 6:37am
So I've been using Maker's Finger on Ur. I hit him with two arrows and when I go for the third time his HP reset as it was before. What's the deal? Any workaround?
I see "accessing server" message or w/e, I'm not using any damage boosts, my internet is decent (atleast I think :D) Download speed 90~ Mb/s Upload speed 90~ Mb/s. It's just so frusturating wasting so much money only to get you damage nullified
john fortnite 19 Dec, 2016 @ 11:11am
I was actually able to kill him in offline mode after all. When I had tried fighting him in offline mode before it didn't actually switch him to offline and so it had me fight the online version (which still takes no damage from me that I can tell). Either way it looks like I'll need to check out that guide of yours.
blight  [author] 19 Dec, 2016 @ 7:10am
Yes, as far as I remember. You need at least level 80-90 to start trying to kill him.
john fortnite 18 Dec, 2016 @ 9:07pm
I've since leveled to 65 now and still the same result. Are you saying that at 65 I'm still too underleveled for this?
