Intro
Hi there! This is a simple achievement rundown for Diadra Empty, hopefully to help out any potential hunters that want more info on the vague, and occasionally incorrect achievement descriptions.

For gameplay tips, there's already several good videos in the Community Hub and on YouTube. I'm not too skilled myself, only occasionally venturing outside Touhou Project, I just happened to spend way too much time on an obscure buggy doujin port.

My personal preferences include:
  • Using a controller with Strafing Type 3, so I can easily swap which direction I'm shooting while moving.
  • Cloudcrack - Normal Shot for raw power and range; Windforce Variant - Turbo Shot for spread
  • WispProjector and Guard for Options, I like the strong defensive setup.
  • Upgrade Priority is Turbo > Option > Power with a handful of Speed. The main three I upgrade about evenly. I don't like Speed getting too high, as it feels like I lose control. Turbo handles moving fast better.
  • LOTS of Wings abuse. Seriously, you can't go wrong with those invincibility frames.

Some additional information for newer players:
  • You unlock shot types and Option options by gaining levels across all playthroughs. I don't know the exacts, but it really doesn't take too long to unlock them.
  • The same goes for Extras in the Config menu. Be careful, as some extras will disable your score from saving if you enable them.
  • Shot type Variants are unlocked by shooting down the bears on Natural Level. For more information, see the "Kill All Bears" achievement.
  • Be sure to release the Strafe button when surrounded by items to extend your catch range. Green orbs are money and yellow orbs are exp.
  • You can ignore Guard Reset in the upgrade screen. Damage is either bugged and not working correctly, or irrelevant. I was never able to discern any effect from it.
  • Main Screen unlocks: Clearing Natural Level unlocks True Level. Clearing True Level unlocks Extra Level. Clearing Extra Level unlocks...Stage Select? A bit late for that! Stage Select doesn't even cover Extra Level.
  • There's a LOT of bugs in this port. Try to catch them all!
Achievements Part 1
Empty Truth

Simply clear the game on Natural Level. Note that you are free to shoot down objectives (Bright red on map) or let the stage time out, either way counts as a clear.

Unlocked Potential

You must fully upgrade 2 stats. The Level count and total cost is as follows:
  • Shot: Lv4 - 1,100 coin
  • Speed: Lv16 - 1,845 coin
  • Option: Lv7 - 1,660 coin
  • Turbo: Lv9 - 1,920 coin

Likely you'll want to aim for Shot & Option. Note that if you manage to max out Shot, Option, and Turbo (Speed is irrelevant) you'll get a score bonus called "Diadra's Brilliance" worth 100,000,000 points!

Kill All Bears

Yes, that's Pedobear (or Kumā). No, I don't know why he's here, haha.
In Natural Level Chapters 2-7, a bear will drop down in the middle of the stage at some point. Shooting it down before it drops off the bottom unlocks a new Shot type variant.

If you're having trouble finding them, keep gaining levels and eventually you'll gain an Extra called "Bear Radar Indicator". Turning this on will give you an alert in the score area when a bear shows up and will highlight the bear in yellow on your map.

A common glitch with this trophy will award it to you even before you've found and killed all 6 bears. You still have to kill them to get the shot type variants though.

What A Player

Start a new session of the game 50 times. This one too, is commonly glitched to your benefit, and it popped for me only after a dozen starts.

Redundancy

Once you're used to Chapter 8 and have found a shot type you like, this isn't difficult much at all. Just pick the exact same shot type for both Normal and Turbo. Doing something like Stormspike and Stormspike Variant doesn't work.

So Many Options

Fully upgrade Options to Lv7 for 1,660 coin. You'll likely get this while grabbing Unlocked Potential, or just being really good at getting coins. It's not hard.

Like a Bolt of Lightning

Wing attacks are when you press the Turbo button and a bunch of "wings" surround your immediate area. You'll hear a small clink once your wings recharge after a couple seconds and they can be used again. The size and damage of these wings can be boosted by upgrading your Turbo. Wings are one of your best tools to move around and break through large swarms of enemies, so abuse it as much as you can and it should come naturally.

This is a running total achievement, and does not need to be in one run. For me, the Steam Achievement display was bugged and always showed (1,000/1,100) until I actually earned it, but I did get periodic update notifications in-game like (500/1,000).

The Need For Speed

Fully Upgrade Speed to Lv16 for 1,845 coin. I recommend you don't tie this with other challenges (at least not hard ones) because having high speed makes Nyalra really floaty and difficult to control in more dangerous fights.

Extra Extra... Shoot them all!

Clear the game on True Level. True Level adds a couple new enemy types, and many old ones become more aggressive. Don't give up!

It's so Nice!

What a strange achievement. Anyway, after the upgrade screen, the game will fade to black, freeze for a moment while it's loading, then fade into the next level. Your goal is to press the Turbo button IMMEDIATELY before the screen freezes. The timing is super-strict, and there's not a good way to judge it. The closer to the right time you push it, the more "Nice!" you get, from 1-5. If you're late at all (the screen has already "frozen") you're too late and won't get any bonus. If you do land the timing, you get all 5 "Nice!" The achievement didn't pop for me right away, rather I had to wait until after clearing the following Chapter.

(A screenshoot of a 3x "Nice!")

By the way, the only in-game benefit to this is a small score bonus, haha.
Achievements Part 2
Extra Awesome

I believe the description here is wrong, what it's actually asking you to do is beat Extra Level with at least 400,000,000 points. If you don't score at least that high by the end of Chapter 4, the game ends prematurely and you miss out on the most insane stage with the best music in the game. Get that 400M and you can continue onto Chapter 5, where you fight the Giant Dragon and Diadra's Crystal at the same time, among a million other things.

Beat THAT and you beat the game! Congratulations!
There's no epilogue for Extra Level unfortunately, but at least you unlock Stage Select!

To The Very End

Both easier and harder than it sounds. Do it on Natural to save yourself a lot of headache. First get to Chapter 8 and then kill yourself off until you're out of continues. Then, play defensively as you normally would up until the very end of the crystal phase. Wear her down normally until you get to the last part of her lifebar (where it "refills" and then goes down really fast). Having reserve Storm Savers here helps a ton. Go ahead and lose any lives you have until you're down to one, then pop the Storm Saver if you have it and go to town on her.

Master Defender

As far as I know, there's no enemy called Defender. This is actually asking you to get the Defender score bonus, which is awarded for absorbing a certain amount of bullets with shields (called Defenders) from the WispProjector Option type.

Anytime you have Options at least at Lv1 and you hold the Strafe button, your options will materialize as shields that absorb bullets that come into contact with them. There seems to be various limits (the shield's hitboxes are smaller than they visibly appear, the shields can absorb some fire from the giant lasers, but the majority will still get through, etc.) Get the score bonus to pop 50 times and the achievement is yours.

Similar to the wings achievement, the Steam Achievement page always said (50/60) while I was earning this, but I got in-game notifications every 10 Defenders. That said, while 40/50 arrived on time, it took a fair bit longer for the achievement to pop. Going by my counts I was in the 70s or 80s. I'm not sure what the cause of the delay was, but it should still pop. Eventually.

Ghostflame Master

Beat the game using both Ghostflame and Ghostflame Variant. Probably my second least favorite shot after GoldStrike, but it gets the job done.

Level 7 Shooter

60,000 is a whole lot of coins. It'll probably come naturally if you're going after everything else, but make sure you're grabbing them when you see them and releasing Strafe to extend your collection range. I'm not sure, but I think using B.S.S. also doesn't contribute toward this total, so you may need to grind out more if you're relying on that for later chapters.

As usual, the Steam Achievements display for this achievement is bugged (at (60,000/61,000) iirc), but you can still earn it just fine.

Strong Will

Don't buy any upgrades ever. You're still free to buy Storm Savers though. The game takes pity on you and will auto-give you Option Lv1 starting in Chapter 2, and you'll get a "Strong Will" bonus of 999,999 for every time you exit the store without upgrading.

If you can beat the final boss like that, the achievement is yours.

Wings of Flight

Technically, this achievement should be impossible right now. RockinAndroid introduced a glitch last year that makes you auto-fire whenever you move around on the map. You're not actually supposed to do that, and this is why.

If it ever gets fixed you just need to max out your Turbo and go to town on Natural Level. (Shot and Option are worthless, upgrade Speed as much as you feel is good, then you can spend the rest on Storm Savers. When you successfully clear a Chapter without regular shots, you'll get a score bonus called "Wings Only"

Now, I actually got this achievement, and it was absolutely a glitch so I don't know if others will be able to reproduce it. I got it during my "Strong Will" run, which I also got "Redundancy" on. All three achievements popped up together at the ending scene. I used plenty of Wings attacks, but regular shots sprinkled with S.S. was how most enemies died.

Flying Blind

The last item you unlock in the Extras menu is "No Radar Mode". Turn this on and then beat the game. Hope you're used to the Chapter layouts by now!

DragonScale Master

Beat the game using DragonScale and DragonScale Variant. DragonScale is tons of fun, but the range is really scary. Lots of bullets are going to be spawning in your face, so WispProjector and Wings are your friends here.

True Fan

1500 minutes equates to 25 hours. I suspect that's the Total Playtime when you highlight Config on the Main menu, but I don't actually know. As of the creation of this guide, I haven't been able to trigger this achievement. I have over 1500 minutes just in True Level, let alone overall. I even went for over 1500 cumulative levels just in case, but no go there either. It seems this was likely broken in the patch last August, which would partly explain why this is the rarest achievement.

If anyone WAS able to trigger this since the last patch (if anyone else has even played this game that long, haha) let me know!
