An optimal attack build
By Larzech
I planned an optimal build for some serious attack gains while not neglecting hp, stamina and defense. My goal was to keep magick as low as possible but it came at the cost of low magick defense. Once you reach lvl 200 your stats should be:

3506 HP
4361 Stamina
839 Attack
404 Defense
258 Magick
268 Magick Defense

Introduction
This game was just released on PC and I'm sure many people pick vocations they'll enjoy. However your stats level up automatically and some vocations have odd stat gains. Magick archer has higher m.def than magick gains. Strider is well-rounded but doesn't need magick. Fighter and warrior have low m.def gains. With this build I hope to allocate stats properly while accepting some flaws.
Leveling
You'll need 4 vocations to do this:

1-10 Fighter
10-27 Warrior
27-100 Assassin
101-200 Ranger

Augments
Augments are limited to 6 at a time and carry over to other vocations. I suggest picking these before changing vocations:

Fighter

Vehemence (rank 8)
  • Increases your strength by 10%
Sinew (rank 5, optional)
  • Increases the weight you can carry by 20kg, good on midgets
Prescience (rank 7, optional)
  • Gives more frames for perfect blocking

Warrior

Clout (rank 9)
  • Increases your strength by 20%
Bastion (rank 1, optional)
  • Increases physical defense by flat 50, great early on
Ferocity (rank 3, Optional)
  • Increases your core skills' dmg by 10%, good on some vocations like warrior

Assassin

Autonomy (rank 9, optional)
  • This increases your strength and magick by 20% if all pawns are down or you play solo. In order to play solo just throw your pawns into the deep water so brine can kill them.

Sorcerer

Awareness (rank 1, optional)
  • This increases magic defense by 50 if you really need it. You can temporarily switch to sorcerer to buy this augment but make sure you don't level up since you don't need the stat gains from this vocation.

Secret Vocation

Predation (no rank)
  • When you land a killing blow, you are healed.
Adhesion (no rank, optional)
  • For climbers, this augment is a must.
Final words
If you want more hp, stay as a warrior longer. If you need more magick defense, try to compensate it with items.

So what do you think about this build? Feel free to comment.

I tend to stick with my assasin build fivefold flurry and lycean sight (especially great with blast arrows) and everything is dead in a couple of seconds with my backup shearing wind for when they get close. I dont even need to bother having any pawns aside form my main pawn (who mostly just runs into a nearby cliff face over and over, but i have him, as fighter and warrior class)

I like STR builds, they give you damage in melee where you need damage most (if you're playing a melee class) without having to carry around the various elemental weapons and upgrade them. If you ever decide to play a magick user, you can just find yourself a tank and/or a Strider to harry foes while you do your big windup attacks. Since spellcasters are backline combatants, the extra oomph of MAG is less of a big deal than when you go for Assassin or Warrior and your so-so defenses mean you need to make every hit count, ideally with higher STR.

I suppose MAG gets better results against specific foes, but I just grab Pawns with those enchantments for that and use STR Augments to make the most of a STR build. Neat setup, I dig the Stamina pool, throw out those skills for days.

ur welcome... but to add something more to this conversation: the mage and the sorcerer are the only two vocations that dont benefit from physical stats too much (except defense). every other vocation can use magick weapons so they can pull from both strength and magick to determine their total damage.
considering the fact that in no matter what vocation u level u always get statspoints in both (strength and magick) a pure strength build would waste that points! and their are enemies that have a high defense or are immune to physical attacks. doin both physical and magick dmg allways wins the upper hand in my book! the same is true for pure magick users. there is a spell that does deal physical damage. a must have for every caster!!!

Yes I'm well aware of magick having an upper hand but just like any other rpg, there are builds for specific playstyle and this one was done for physical. Besides if you go for a balanced strength/magick build, you end up being meh with some vocations. I would rather be good at being physical and hire mage/sorcerer pawns for the magick.

As for the magick build, I'm saving it up for another run. Then there are speedruns for fun. You could consider this as a basic physical build. It's simple and straightforward.

Thanks for the input btw! :)

magick weapons are the best to use overall! so if u only level strength u will end up with a very unflexible build, that is weak against magick ontop. not so sure if thats a good idea´. made such a build once on console... it was not as good as i was hopin it would be. now i know better. u should go for a more balanced build i would suggest
