In-depth guide to creating a custom Zeus mission with and without mods.
By Bloated 200IQ Brain
I’m going to assume that you already have your ports forwarded or using a similar service to do the same thing. (IE. Log me in Hamachi, Tungle, etc.) If you don’t know how to port forward, this is not a guide on how to port forward. This is a guide how to make a Zeus mission in the Arma 3 editor.

Choose the map of your liking.
Today we are going to choose the map Chernarus from the CUP Terrains pack. It doesn’t matter which map you choose, we are doing Chernarus because it does not have Zeus as a mission, unlike Altis and Stratis.
Going into the Editor
Once you choose your map we are going to click the “<<New – Editor>>” button.
nsert Picture)

You’ll be sent into a map screen such as this.
Setting up the Zeus Modules
Now go to anywhere on the map, it really doesn’t matter. Press F7 or click this symbol on the top left-hand bar of your screen.

Double click anywhere and you’ll be brought to this menu

Go to Category and scroll down to Zeus.

Make sure the module is “Game Master”.

Don’t worry about all that right now, just click okay and you’ll see an eye on your map.

Now go to unit spawn, press F1 or find it in that same bar that you found the modules.

Double click it in an area you want to spawn your curator. It doesn’t matter who you spawn just as long as it’s a man. So we are going to spawn a beggar as the curator.

Go to NAME: And type in a name that you’ll be able to remember easily. We’ll be using P1

Go to Initialization and type in “this allowDamage false” if you want your curator to be invincible. Then click OK.

Now go back to your Zeus Module and double click it. You’ll go back to the same menu as before. But now you want to go Owner and type in whatever name you named your man.

Now snice we are not using any modded units or weapons we will keep Default addons as “All official addons” But if we were using modded units we’d just enable all unofficial and official addons.

You don’t want to mess with Forced interface. Just leave it as disabled as we are using a curator. If we were not using a curator we’d enable it.

Now you’ll press F5 and link up the module and the unit together. There will be a blue line like this if you linked them up correctly.

Now that’s the bare bones of setting up the Zeus module!

Placing players and making the spawning system work.
You’re not done yet! You have to place the players. Then you have to fix the spawning system, because it’s broken for some reason. If all your players die, it will end the game. If two of your players die and Zeus is still there, they won’t be able to respawn.

Place whatever units your party needs. The same way you spawn the beggar, but this time make sure the NPC is able to be controlled by a player. So go to control and make it playable. Do it for all the units you spawn. We will spawn two units.

This is where it gets tricky. Now you have to save your mission. Save it as whatever you want it to be called.

You want to close the game down and head to your MP Mission folder.
Libraries/Documents/Arma /mpmissions/your mission

Right click, new, text document.

Double click the New Text Document.txt

Copy and paste this code into it.

author="Your Name";
onLoadName = "Mission Name";
OnLoadMission = "Mission description”;
//overviewPicture = "loading.jpg";

respawn = 2;
respawnDelay = 15;
respawnVehicleDelay = 30;
respawnTemplatesWest[] = {"MenuPosition","MenuInventory"};
respawnTemplatesEast[] = {"MenuPosition","MenuInventory"};
respawnTemplatesGuer[] = {"MenuPosition","MenuInventory"};

respawnOnStart = 0;
disabledAI = 0;
joinUnassigned = 1;
aiKills = 1;

Save as, Make sure you’re saving as All files.
“description.ext”

Now exit out of all that and reboot your game. You fixed the problem.

Now that’s it for making a small Zeus mission for you and a small party of friends! In theory this should work. If it doesn’t work, please feel free to comment and explain your issues. The reason I say that is because, my friends and I only tested this with mods. The mods we use are:
ACE 3
CBA
CUP Terrains
RHS Armed Forces of the Russian Federation
RHS United States Forces
MCC Sandbox 4- Mission Making the Easy Way

Hopefully this guide will help anyone that is tired of playing on two maps with Zeus.

I'll update this guide like Screamin' Engineer requested. I'll use the same mods as before.

Could you update this for how Zeus works now?

PFC "Tini" Wolfie, UPNP is more common for modern equipment, however older systems are not capable of using that feature, which is why people have to manually port forward their internet. Some games can port forward automatically, others have UPNP support, others require manual port forwarding.

Hm, that's strange. I'd have to try and remake a map with the steps I made in the guide to see if I could get the same erorr. Thank you for telling me and I'll try and get to you ASAP.
