Mod Irving to give him the Water Element
By ffleader1
When you buy "Fairy Fencer F: Additional Fairy Pack" DLC, you will notice that each element has a corresponding Fairy, except Ice and Water. There are two Ice Fairies, Irving and Nivea, while there are no Water one; and Irving's art would make more sense if he were a Water Fairy.
Maybe the developers hated water, maybe they were high...No matter. This EXTREMELY EASY mod will show you how to get Irving the Water Element that he deserves

Overview about Irving
Irving is a Fairy available in the Additional Fairy Pack of the game.
Normally, at max level, he looks like this:
He has the following abilities:
  • Ice Support +3
  • Bow Prowess
  • Ice Support +4
  • Ice Support +5
  • Post Battle HP +4
There is not much to talk about, except that is "Ice". Every fairy in the DLC represents an element. However, Irving's art largely suggests that he is Water-type while his stats are Ice-type. Not only that, Nivea also has Ice-type and there is no Water-type Fairy.
Here is Nivea.

So what does this mean? In an idea world, Irving is supposed to be Water-type. So, although this world is not idea, I want to make it better.
Patching Process
As I said above, this guide is extremely easy.

  • Step 3: Go to this location
[Your Steam Library Folder]\steamapps\common\Fairy Fencer F\DLC03\DLC
and replace the database_en008.cl3 there with the one you just downloaded.
  • Step 4: Run the game.
  • [/list]
    There you go
    Enjoy the new Irving.
    What did I do? (Optional)
Well basically I use a Hex Editor[mh-nexus.de] to modify 3 values from the data file.
How did I know which value to modify in the first place? Well, I didn't.
It took me 3 hours to find the right value location and figure out the necessary value. It's painfull, sure, but I got it finally.
    Enjoy the DLC.

Not sure if the game has been patched now but either way, this has nothing to do with Achievement, so no

Does this mod mess with anything else in the game as a sort of side effect? Like would modding Irving for water make me unable to unlock any more Achievements?

I think it's great you took the effort to do this. Thanks!

That said, I'm actually thinking the developers purposefully made Irving ice element as some sort of odd way to limit Tiara who is potentially one of the most damaging party members in the roster.

Well, while it's possible and would make more sense, I don't think it's matter much. First, you can change her combo to primary bows; and second, well, Tiara's power lies within Spell, not physical attack, as Maelstrom with water +3,+4,+5 will 1-hit almost any non-boss battle. Heck, she is still powerful in boss battle. So I guess, yeah, it make sense, but her physical attack is not her strong point anyway.

This is very useful, thank you for all your hardwork.
Would it make sense to change Irving's Bow Prowess to Glaive Prowess?

That would take a while. I have finished this game for a while, so I think I have to backtrack some stuff, and I am in a busy period :<

Do you think you could make another mod with Nivea instead?

Thanks for this. Nivea might work well too, but this a helpful bonus either way.
