Sound awesomeness

This Space Quest Collection does not include the installers, which are needed to access alternative sound devices. They decided not to let us switch from Adlib/Soundblaster to whatever we want. Windows comes with a GM bank, so you can try General MIDI.

Space Quest 3-6: resource.cfg tells the system which drivers to run. You can change the sound to MT32.DRV on Space Quest 3 if you have MT32 capability. Starting from Space Quest 4, you can set it to GENMIDI.DRV. Space Quest 1 VGA has General MIDI / MT32 capability as well. You can edit this in Notepad.exe or notepad++

Space Quest 1 classic and Space Quest 2: you probably aren't getting the best experience. Both games support the PS2/Tandy sound chip. Getting to know dosbox.conf will let you get the most out of your games. I prefer to have a separate copy of DOSBox for Tandy emulation. You'll thank me if you have really old games that use the Tandy sound device

I have DOSBox 0.63, for now, and here's my settings for SQ1-SQ2

[dosbox]
machine=tandy

[speaker]
tandyrate=44100

I won't go into detail on Roland MT-32 because it's somewhat questionable, but there's ways to do it.
