Thought: Jump goes vertical, right?
Mapped W for up/vert and thought I was very clever.
Unfortunately "Vertical" is apparently another dimension.
Instead of going up, I warped sideways, sliding deeper into the 2D plane and ended up behind tree, but with one leg sticking *through* to this side.
Like I'd gotten splinched.
Still thought I was onto something, until I went vertical behind the sea cliff.
Time/Space warped as I fell THROUGH the sea floor.
The background scrolled up off the top of my screen, leaving nothing but a uniform tan and my hoof cursor, which bounced faster and faster, until reaching a steady speed.
So I knew The Deer had been falling, and had eventually reached terminal velocity.
Finally I hit ESC to bail out, not knowing if he was falling toward a sticky end, or through an infinite void.
Then I found your How to Beat The Deer Guide and saw I was doing pretty much everything wrong in this game.
Now sticking to D.
