I believed I had already answered that question back in 2015, lol!
Let me quote it for you guys or simply check out page 3.

If you play an established map with a new character it does the unexplored map thing. Try it yourself. It's a nice base design up top but get rid of the platforms down your hellevator. You don't need them with wings or at all if you pop some water in the bottom. Save yourself a good two minutes getting to the underworld

Elevators don't need platforms v.v they are torture

Thanks but I don't play Terraria anymore, not at the moment, unless there is another update with huge content. I already got all the achievements and did the things I want in the game, plus I got plenty of other things to do.
