Its time for the gross generalization of the different submarine types, dont hate me for beeing a racist and generalize everything in my life... :)

japanese subs are REALLY big 2x the size of a german sub, they DO carry more pedo tubes, and from tier 4 they have scoutplanes, but VERY big, and sluggish, but topspeed is usaully a bit higher on them(overall 2200 tons of water displacement)

US subs are 1.5x the size of german subs, meaning more agile than the ♥♥♥ subs, but less agile than the german subs. overall they have moderate speed, ♥♥♥ subs usually are faster above water, and german usually the slowest. also US subs have no scout planes, due to its size of only beeing 75% of the ♥♥♥ subs hes more agile and have usually 1 or 2 pedo tubes more than the german subs. (overall 1500 tons of water displacement)

german subs, the smallest ones, the most agile ones ( not the fastest, dont get those mixed up) and have the least amount of tubes due to their size, but their size also means that they are the the best in subs vs subs fight, since they can easily dodge other torps ( and theres a another factor but well talk about it later) also german subs have no scout planes. and considerably less tubes.(overall 700-1100 tons of water displacement)

to go back on the other generalizations. overall, the ♥♥♥ subs usually have more topspeed, US has moderate, and german have the lowest if im not mistaking, together with that, the torpedoes.

there are a bunch of differences between the torpedoes, usually its the faster they go the lower the max distance is.

for instance, german torps are usually the fastest ones, usually 4 mp/h faster than the both counterparts( ♥♥♥ and US torpedo speed are a mix, depends on the module tier) but german torps have usually considerably less range. usually 10-20% less range.

so if you look solely to torpedospeed, germany has the fastest ones, but the range would be smaller with 10-15% compared to the US and ♥♥♥ torpedoes, meaning the torp speed is REALLY good for a fight vs other subs, meaning if you go against a german sub with a other country submarine, you better know what youre doing. he will win the fight in every single way other than your own input.(more agile,dives faster to avoid the torpedoes and he has faster torpedoes so its easier for them to hit you and you cant dodge it as fast,since the waterdisplacements, makes the US and japanese sub slower to avoid the torpedoes in every way, they dive slower, and need more time to turn under water)

lets put this in (rough) numbers.

for instance, if the german sub would have only 4 tubes and possibly no back tube or only 1 , the speed of the torpedo is 67 mile per hour, and it only has 2.5km range.

a other country compared to that german tier would have for instance, (us 6 tubes, 64 torp speed, but 2.8km range) ( the ♥♥♥ sub would have only 62 torp speed, but the range would be much larger like 3km range)

also, ( while its only a small thing) in that same tier ( for comparison) the delay arm time range of the torpedo(the time it needs to arm itselve) shouldnt be forgotten too, ♥♥♥ subs has the lowest activation range, US middle, and the german torp ( due to its speed) has the biggest delay on arming.( so the faster the torpedo is, the more range it needs to arm itselve, speed/ arm timer relationship)

for instance, if we would take the same examples from above. the german sub would need 290m to arm the pedo, US would only need 280 meters, and the ♥♥♥ sub would only need 258 meters to arm the pedo.

the torpedo damage is quite weird, it depends on the different tiers and modules. its mostly only 10-15% damage difference, it depends per tier range.

could be that im forgetting somethign, but you can consider this as a ( perhap gross :D) generalization of the sub classes..

short story: german subs are small and have fast torpedoes/less range on them, not alot of tubes due to its size, but very agile and good vs other subs.(lowest amount of time they can be submerged)

US subs are a good middle ground, not too big, still more agile and agile enough to dodge torps, and have more tubes overall than the german counterpart. for the rest it doesnt really shine in anything, torps are a good middle ground(moderate in every way :D)* but that doesnt have to be bad :D

♥♥♥ subs, dees beech is huuuge :D after tier 4 they have one scout plane, could be handy, and they usually have the most problems with fighting other subs due to its size and beeing not so agile. but due to having more tubes usually, and beeing able to stay under the longest, you could say it can be considered as the biggest threat once he gets to your battleships.

i hope this will help people into choosing the way to destroy subs, and to choose one for their own purposes, i love generalizations, it makes my life really simple:3

there was a question asked, and my reply made me think that its perhaps good to have as much info on here as we can, since we dont have any wiki yet. so this was my answer. dont hate me for the gross generalizations of the submarine classes :D

well, it depends...

if you have a german sub, they are so agile and small, its easy to dodge all stuff... :) now we had that :D

US subs are a jack of all trades i guess.

The ♥♥♥ subs, are REALLY big, and not so agile, the US subs, are a little smaller(lets call them medium). while the german sub(smallest)has to go up for air the fastest once youre submerged, the US would be able to stay down a little longer, and the ♥♥♥ subs can stay down the longest ( probably due to the sizes, ♥♥♥ biggest, Us middleground, germany subs are smaller, ergo less air volume)


now what is the best thing to counter them ?

get a destroyer, spam them with normal turret fire, that will make them go under. spam pedo's that will make em go to deep waters to avoid the pedo's..

once in deep waters, the mentioned subs cant nearly dodge stuff as fast as they could before, since they lose alot of speed, and agility.

This is THE time for the depth charges, drop it on them, and see the bubbles of victory rise to the top.

I have to mention though alot of people try to lead the submarine with the depth charges, or try to intercept them when they move. well thats not needed, if your bombs hit the target, they will instantly explode, even if the sub is in deep water. so drop them RIGHT on top of them....

thats the easiest way to clear a sub. isnt the sub going to deep water, dont hesitate to send a few pedo's his way, usually that wil make em dive deeper, especially those US and germany ones while japanese subs usualy are too late, since they need ALOT more time to submerge, or go to deep waters.(also due to its higher water displacement, meaning diz beech is huuge :D)

US subs can still dodge fairly, but "japanese" subs, once they have passed tier 4, youre done for, and they are 2x as big as the other factions :D

thats how when you follow the logic, the germany subs ( due to its small size and agility+fast torpedoes) are the best for a sub vs sub fight.
