Completion bonuses

Successfully complete the game to unlock the Separate Ways and Mercenaries mini-games; the Professional difficulty setting; Leon's Raccoon City Police Department costume, Ashley's pop star costume, and Ada's black costume. After completing the game the first time, start a new game and select "Load Game". Choose the file that is marked "Clear".

Successfully complete the Separate Ways mini-game to unlock Ashley's knight costume and Leon's gangster costume. Ashley's suit of armor is bullet and damage proof. She cannot get hurt by anything and it is so heavy she cannot be carried away. You do not have to worry about giving her First Aid Sprays, Herbs, or shooting Ganados trying to pick her up.

Chicago Typewriter

Successfully complete the Separate Ways mini-game to unlock the Chicago Typewriter (Tommy gun with infinite ammunition) for purchase (for 1 million Pesetas).

HandCannon

Get a five star rank with all mercenaries in the Mercenaries mini-game to unlock the HandCannon weapon. To get unlimited ammunition for it, fully upgrade all of the HandCannon's options. The HandCannon will be available as soon as you start the game again for 0 Pesetas.

Punisher

Destroy at least ten of the fifteen blue medallions (there are seven in the farm and eight in the cemetery) to get a free Punisher from the Merchant two guns before you can buy it. This pistol hits two targets when you get it and five when you get exclusive.

Matilda

Unlock the Matilda handgun (which fires 3 round bursts) by clearing the game (any mode). The items will be unlocked for purchase at any merchant if you load up a "Round 2" game save. The weapons come with a hefty price, too.

Unlimited Rocket Launcher

Unlock the Unlimited Rocket Launcher by clearing the game (any mode). The items will be unlocked for purchase at any merchant if you load up a "Round 2" game save. The weapon will cost you 1 million pesetas.

PRL 412

Successfully complete the game in Professional mode. The merchant will give you a PRL 412 laser cannon when you start Round 2 of Professional mode.

Bonus characters in Mercenaries mini-game

Get a four star rank in the following areas to unlock the corresponding character in the Mercenaries mini-game:

Ada Wong: Pueblo
Albert Wesker: Waterworld
Hunk: Island Commando Base
Jack Krauser: Castle

Do you get locked out of unlocks if you save, die, or use first aid sprays too many times?

You forgot to add you get the Chicago gun in Seperate Ways NG+ for beating Assignment Ada

Whoops, yeah totally forgot about the Hand Cannon. Could add that shooting all 15 Blue Medallions before claiming the free Punisher, adds a free upgrade to it. The Matilda costs 70,000 Pesetas I think.

@PartisanGerm, the Hand Cannon is totally different from the Broken Butterfly.

i have beaten the game so many times in the past 10 years and the only way i got it was beating mercinaries o.o still though thats pretty cool, on PC i have beaten normal twice and professional twice and i didnt get it, is there like a time limit? I did just now unlock it on mercinaries though, regardless this is a good guide :)

For my part I unlocked it, by finishing the game twice.

FINALLY a guide with brains. this is all the information needed to become a pro plyer at re4. once you have the unlimited rocket launcher and the .50 cal maxed out you can beat professional easier then playing on easy mode. thanks for saving me the time of having to write this up for the noobs, good job/good guide.
