MP40 Sound Mod - Historical

[IMPORTANT: READ DESCRIPTION FIRST!]


Heya guys,

This mod changes the standard sound of the MP40 to a historically accurate one. I personally like this version very much and I hope you will do so too!

Not all weaponsounds appear to be moddable, so don't get mad if I cannot mod your favourite weapon. I'm trying my utmost, please understand that. Weapons not being moddable isn't something that's on my side, it's on Tripwire's


[INSTALLING]
1. Sub to this mod
2. Start the game
3. Enjoy! (yes it's that simple)

[IMPORTANT STUFF]

Method 1. (recommended as first)

1.1. No need to backup

1.2. Delete the file \Documents\My Games\RedOrchestra2\ROGame\Published\CookedPC\Packages\Audio\AUD_Firearms_SMG_MP40.upk

Method 2. (for more safety, takes longer though. Recommended if method 1 doesn't work for you)

2.1. Backing up
Needless to say but I still will. If you want to stay on the safe side, you have to copy and paste this file somewhere else to keep it safe:
YourDisk:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Red Orchestra 2\ROGame\BrewedPC\Packages\Audio\AUD_Firearms_SMG_MP40.upk

2.2. Restoring and uninstalling the mod if you didn't backup the file
Delete: YourDisk:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Red Orchestra 2\ROGame\BrewedPC\Packages\Audio\AUD_Firearms_SMG_MP40.upk

Then head to \Documents\My Games\RedOrchestra2\ROGame\Published\CookedPC\Packages\Audio\AUD_Firearms_SMG_MP40.upk
Delete that too.

Then verify the integrity of the game's cache. I don't know how long this takes though. It might take a while.

2.3. Restoring and uninstalling if you have the backup file
Replace: YourDisk:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Red Orchestra 2\ROGame\BrewedPC\Packages\Audio\AUD_Firearms_SMG_MP40.upk with your backup file

Then head to \Documents\My Games\RedOrchestra2\ROGame\Published\CookedPC\Packages\Audio\AUD_Firearms_SMG_MP40.upk
Delete that too.

- This does work on multiplayer, but maybe not on all servers
- Keep in mind that this mod only changes the sound your own gun produces. You will still hear the normal sound coming from other MP40 players.
- For me one of my sound mods causes disconnection after Match end, when it starts loading. You just have to rejoin the server via server browser.
