"It's my greatest accomplishment to date. I finally convinced Valve to add a "+1" to a single line of code.

They didn't reply to my email, nor did they credit me in the update notes. But they actually implemented the fix.

Now I can retire."

Yeah, as far as I know, the game actually does have better stat information than what they show in the scoreboard (e.g. damage broken down into giant and non-giant; per-wave stats for at least the current wave, not sure about previous waves), but they just don't show it anywhere. Some third party modded servers have clunky overlays that will show extra stats after each wave.

That's a whole lot of issues for seemingly simple functionality. Nice description of the issues, descriptions of bugs often suck. ("It doesn't click.", "It's not right", etc.) I wish they'd use some of the extra space on the right to show the damage done last wave to make it easier to see if anybody is having problems with their class or that wave.

It specifically fixes the bug where the wrong player's stats would get zeroed out when a new player joins the server. It was supposed to be zeroing out the new player's stats, but it was unintentionally zeroing out the stats for the player one slot before them.

There are still some other unrelated bugs with those stats though: when you connect late, you see everyone else's stats starting at zero; and there's a brief moment when the wave ends where the current wave's stats are double-counted before they correct themselves. Also, the stats sometimes reset themselves if you experience lag and the server has to re-send a full update to the client.

Is that related to the damage totals getting all out of whack in the HUD? If so, thank you!

It's frustrating that they didn't credit you. If anyone's earned that dumb-looking hat with the bug on it, it's you. :/

Don't retire now, there's still so many glitches out there that need fixing. A true hero never retire
