Introduction: What is Watergate?
What is Watergate?

Watergate is one of the four recently released maps with the Invasion Update for TF2. This map is known as a Player Destruction map, which may seem confusing to new players. What also might confuse new players is the objective in the game, and how to obtain the objective. Well, mentlegen, my name is Dr. Pestilence, and I will help you understand the forwards and backwards of the objective for Watergate.
Liquor Promotion: Quench the Alien's Thirst!
"So, how can we get rid of these aliens that terrorize our map?

The solution is simple! Alcohol! (I wish I had been joking about this.) So, apparently, the eggheads at Mann. Co thought that we could avoid being invaded by the aliens if we maybe intoxicated them with our classic brewery. Well, my friends, getting this beer isn't as simple as it sounds! (Actually, it really is. Though, to a newcoming player, it can be.) To obtain the beer you need to rid the area of aliens, you must kill an enemy mercenary. Recent studies show that Saxton Hale believed that every mercenary should have alcohol stored on them or in them. Some mercenaries even complain that they have had beer displayed in their toilets after a hard day at work (Yes, I know you do on a regular basis, Demoman; but not every mercenary is used to being drunk on the job). Regardless, in order to get these bottles of delectible poison, you have to kill your enemies. After their death, they drop a beer bottle, or more beer bottles, depending on whether they were also carrying beer on them. The more beer the carrier has, the more you will have added to you. Simple? Well, good. It gets a wee bit complicated from here.
A Gift to the Invaders: Too Much Liquor?
"So, just how much beer do we need to bring these aliens, hm?"

Glad you asked; the amount varies on the gameplay. It can jump anwhere between 80 bottles to 110! There isn't really a determining factor for how many rounds there are, or how long each round is. It's very similar to Special Delivary and Capture the Flag, in a sense.
Sharing is Caring: Give the Aliens Gifts!
"So, what do we do with this beer we've collected?"

Well, by now you've probably noticed the UFO that flies by every so often, picking up the players that are under its ray. You see, you need to bring that beer to the very top of that ray! Simple, right? Yeah, I know. Easier said than done, though. Players will try their hardest to take you out if you're not careful; especially if you're the team captain. (Not the hat, you bloke. The leader).
King of the Alcohol (On Your Team)
"What did you mean before, the 'team captain'?"

Ah, yes. The team captain. It's quite convenient, you know, having a sense of leadership in the crew to keep it moving. Well, here; I'll explain how the team captain works. Both sides have their own team captain, the player with the most beer on them. These captains can be helpful and hurtful at the same time, you know. Think of them as 'mobile dispensers'. Stand near them, they provide health and ammunition to your team! Yet, if your dispenser gets destroyed, well... yeah, you lose all the beer, and the upper hand on the enemy. Don't worry! You can get that beer back with the right teamwork!
Closing Thoughts
This gamestyle and map is an overall creative spin on how we view CTF and SD, considering Watergate feels like a combination of them. It's a fun, fast-paced map that the creators of the Invasion Update should be proud of! If you have any further questions to ask, leave a comment below! I'll be sure to get to them as soon as possible. I shall see you all at a later time.

Sincerely, Doctor Pestilence
