Default Characters
This guide was written for Zombie Party official release 5.0. (and updated for 5.1, 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, and 9.0)
It's still early access so this info is likely to change or expand in the future.

These characters are available right away without spending any gold, so they're included here just for convenient comparison to the unlockable choices in the next section.

Unlockable Characters
*SPOILER ALERT*

The Unlockable characters are... well, unlockable. This part of the guide is for those who want to spend their early gold earnings wisely by unlocking the characters that suit their playstyle first, and skip the ones they don't want to use anyway.

|6.0 release notes: The addition of Robin seems to have "shifted" all the base stats and previously-purchased permanent upgrades one character "backwards" in the list. So these are all inaccurate, but I'm holding off updating this guide until hearing back whether that was just a bug or a permanent intentional change. (fixed in 6.1 if you Reset the stats under Options)

Where is Good Boy? Or is that a newer version? Should be updated if so.

Jay Son is the best character to unlock currently in the game. He is the cheapest character with Luck +3 and the rest of the stats can be upgraded to max. Sawblade is also a decent weapon, but I would replace it with Throwing Axes (haven't tested 9.0 weapons though). Back in 7.0 Throwing Axes were Hardcore last boss ready, and the +++ versions too. Shuriken were also pretty reasonable, just Pierce > Homing for killing waves of enemies. Neuralyzer makes the game lag with the OP combo.

Best pets are: Porcupines, Pigs, or Magnets. Magnets are rude in multiplayer because you're stealing the whole room's drops. Pigs improve drops so they're pretty good all around, but I'd go with Porcupines. They have an aoe that does massive damage (mine does 75 with piercing) so you can actually sit back and let it solo levels with it. Pretty disgusting. Main downside is if you want to keep enemies alive to pick up gold, since it slaughters everything.

If your good at the slot machine i guarantee its worth it for characters

Give the Creator the Dual Gats weapon and it's all over from there. After that if you can score a spread and a pierce, putt hem on the Dual Gats. Then either a damage increase, a firereate increase, or a second spread. You pretty much aren't in any danger until the Dance King in Hardmode.

The Creator is the best character because of his starting weapon and his starting base stats. You'll notice that you can't upgrade the base luck of any character at the character selection screen, but his is already maxed so he's the only character (I believe) that you can have maxed out before starting a wave or dungeon.

He's $10,000, but worth it.

so who is the best character ?.

Only the dev knows for sure, but I suspect LUCK affects the randomly-dropped runes and powerups, and possibly gold? I generally put my first batch of skill points into HP and LUCK, and seem to get lots of good goodies.

anyone know what the luck stat does?
