Beginner's Console Commands Among Other Things...
A few people have asked me if there were any little things they could do to their game that could make the performance better. Not even just the game performance, but the player performance as well. Here are a few tips for the average player.
Tip #1: FPS
There’s a certain thing most of us gamers care about quite a lot called FPS, which stands for FRAMES PER SECOND. To show your FPS, simply type this in console:

net_graph 1

That will show your frames per second as well as your ping. It will also show lerp, ms and a bunch of other things that may or may not matter to you. It’s all personal preference. To turn off netgraph_1, just type:

net_graph 0

THIS WILL SLOW YOUR YOUR FRAMES, JUST BE WARNED

Look at the bottom right:

The average amount of FPS you get in TF2 without changing or tweaking anything is about 60. If you want to change that and improve your FPS, you should take a look at Chris' Configs, which improves your FPS up to 100-200. I used to run High Frames by Chris, and this is what it looked like:

To learn how to download and install configs, look at Chri's website: https://chrisdown.name/tf2/
Tip #2: FOV
Tip #2 FOV

Field of view is very important because you want to be able to see as much as you can around you, right? To fix that, type this in console:

fov_desired 90

It will look like this:

There! You should be able to see more of what’s happening around you. If you want it back to 70, just type:

fov_desired 70

It will look like this:

Tip #3: Viewmodels
Viewmodels are the models you are holding in front of you. So if you’re playing Sniper, your viewmodel will be the Sniper Rifle and your hands. In my personal opinion, the viewmodels take up a lot of space on your screen. To fix that, type this in console:

viewmodel_fov 90

It will look like this:

To change your viewmodel back, just type:

viewmodel_fov 70

It will look like this:

Tip #4: Mat Phong 1/0
Mat Phong 1 makes everything very shiny and awkward. Almost everything looks absolutely glossy and in my opinion makes lost of things look oily. Look at this:

The way to make things NOT look so glossy, just type in console:

mat_phong 0

Everything will change and look somewhat like this:

Just a warning, mat_phong 0 makes Australiums look ugly and weird.

If you don't like how it looks, you can change it back by typing:

mat_phong 1

Tip #5: R_Drawviewmodel
In some cases it's hard to aim when you have a weapon blocking your view. In this case, you can turn your viewmodel off so you can see everything around you. It does wonders for your aim. All you have to do is type in console:

r_drawviewmodel 0

Your weapon will disappear. The only problem is you might not know what your weapons are if you switch them. To fix that, look at your character model on your screen, or just look at your ammo. It shouldn't be hard to memorize what items you have equipped.

Tip #6: HUDS
"The Heads-up display, or HUD, is a system for quickly relaying important information to the user. It is a collection of various tabs surrounding the player's view in-game. A minimal version of the default HUD can be enabled in Advanced multiplayer options. The game also allows for the addition of HUD modification files (or "custom HUDs") to suit the players' taste."

You can customize your own HUD by looking them up online and downloading them. I've used Rayshud, Voidhud, and YaHud.

Rayshud:

Voidhud:

YaHud:

Hopefully...
this little guide helped you out somewhat. I know I missed and forgot some things but then this guide would take me at least a few hours to make. Please let me know if I'm missing anything really important! Thank you.
