FAQ
Speed? Fight? Shot? What do the stats mean?

These are rough representations of how the different characters perform. Each is unique with their own shot styles, fight moves and abilities.

Speed is not only how fast the player moves with and without the ball, but also factors in how much boost you get from using turbo and how quickly turbo recharges.

Fight is a general ranking based on how much attack power the player has and how tough they are. For example, the soccer player will only stun an opponent and cannot take much punishment before getting KOed. The Football player on the other hand will take a beating from most players, and can take down anyone with one tackle.

Shot tells you first what the player's normal shot style is, and 2nd what the charge shot style is:

  • Net: The lower net, usually guarded by the goalie and typically worth the most points
  • Hoop: The basketball hoop, which is only easily targetable by the basketball player (though Post shots can sometimes go in)
  • FG: The upright field goal posts. Players who can shoot high shots can take advantage of opportune moments to get a quick two points.

How do normal and charge shots work?

Normal Shots can be charged by holding down the Shoot button for more power, angle or accuracy depending on the player type. Holding down the Shoot button for too long however will result in your player glowing, signifying that the Charge Shot is now ready. Learning how long a Normal Shot can be charged before it becomes a Charge Shot can help with making the Basketball player more accurate, the Soccer player kick higher, the American Football player toss farther, and more.

Nobody can score!
It can be hard for new players and Season Mode is the place to start! Coach Clip will walk you through each character as they unlock.

More tips to get you in the game:
  1. Use an analog game controller to aim - This is very important for aiming accurately. Yes, you can play with the keyboard layout only or a digital pad that emulates an analog stick, but it is not recommended!
  2. Get yourself and new players into Shot Practice. Learn how to aim your basic shots, and to charge them up for more power. Learn the difference between a partially charged shot and a fully charged up Charge Shot. Also practice your slam dunking here!
  3. Use your Turbo button wisely! Out-maneuver the goalie, deflect attacks and use it when it counts.
  4. Use teamwork to score! Pass to a teammate and quickly take control of the target player to score.
  5. Season Mode adjusts the difficulty automatically. In quick match, you can set the CPU and Goalie skill level or even turn the goalies off.

I keep getting beat up!
Things can get rough out there.
  1. Protect yourself with a deflection! Turbo boosting deflects most attacks and provides a speed boost to get away. An outline will appear around your player to signify you are protected during the Turbo boost.
  2. Lose the ball. If you are holding the ball, you need to get it down the field, pass it to someone else or try to score. Otherwise you'll likely get sacked! Anticipate the attack and be ready for what's next.
  3. Avoid the Rowdy Cloud. If you see a fight cloud, stay out of it! It may be your chance to charge up a field goal shot, or go for the slam dunk!
  4. Mash the Shoot button and steer with your stick if you are in the Rowdy Cloud. Beat up the other team -- the losers get KOed.
  5. Don't fight the goalie. You will lose.

How do you slam dunk?
It wouldn't be Super Slam Dunk Touchdown without slam dunks!
  1. You need to have the ball, and be positioned between the two vertical lines underneath the hoop. It helps to lure the goalie away and/or turbo into the dunk zone.
  2. Tap the shoot button once you are in position to begin the dunk sequence.
  3. Tap the shoot button a second time once your player is in position in the air to dunk. The timing is different for each player type.

Is there online multiplayer?
No but you can play online with friends using Steam's Remote Play feature if your upspeed is good ~ 30+mpbs. Your friends don't even need to own the game!

How do you play with the keyboard and mouse?
You can play with game controllers (recommended) or the keyboard, or the keyboard and the mouse. For keyboard controls, use WASD to move and aim, and the mouse or J,K,L for your action buttons.

To use the keyboard *and* mouse, hold down the mouse button while holding the ball. Then drag the mouse in the direction you wish to shoot and let go of the mouse button. This allows for more accuracy than the keys.

Controllers, mouse and keyboard controls can be customized from the controller config screen.

My controller doesn't work!

Is your controller supported?

  • Controllers that are Windows compatible should have no issues at all, but Steam complicates things. For most setups, the default controller mode should work best.
  • For maximum compatibility with modern features and controllers, use Xinput or Xinput+Dinput mode.
  • For 6 players, older controllers and controller adapters you may have better luck with Dinput, or Raw+Xinput.
  • Xinput only controllers have a 4 player limit, however more controllers can be used with Dinput enabled too for the full 6 player experience.
  • PS3 controllers are not meant for windows, have no manufacturer driver and will give you issues. PS3 controllers are not recommended.
  • Any joystick "helper" software may interfere with normal operation, such as DS4 Tool

Recommended controllers:

  1. Xbox 360
  2. Xbox One
  3. PS4

To change the controller mode, go to Title Screen->Options and click "CONTROLLER MODE". Then use the arrows to choose the mode that is right for you.

How do you assign CPU players in quick match?
It's easy when you know how.
  1. Click the Add CPU Player button. You will get a "child" CP icon you can place where you like.
  2. Move both cursors to the player of your choice on the desired team.
  3. Press the Shoot button to drop the CP icon. The CPU player will be on that team, and play as that player.
  4. Then pick your own player and team as you normally would.
  5. Player choices will be confirmed when you press Start.
  6. Be aware there's a 3 player limit per team!
Scoring
Scoring varies by the type of goal (Net, Hoop, Dunk and Posts). In quickmatch, the default values are:

Net: 4 pts
Hoop/Dunk: 3 pts

However, in Free-For-All and certain challenge modes, the point values change. Check the scoring diagram on the character select screen for point values. You can also set your own scoring values in game options.
