Industry Giant 2 Missions How-To (Without commentary):
Tutorial: create new Product
In this example i will show you how to create new product: Watermelon
Currently im not using any modification, thats why my product have unique ID: 222 and 03_10














First steps
To start doing this we need:
  • Check which product you need (check in-game if not exist)
  • Read about product and try to understand basics (how long need to grow or create him in real-life).
  • Learn basic 3d modeling (Program: blender)
  • Learn basic image editing (Program: photoshop)

Create image 3d model
In-game every product is animated, thats why we need create 3 different images.
We can achieve this with 3D modeling program: Blender
  • Find reference images
  • Create new model
  • Render image in 3 different angles
I found theas images and used in Blender:

Dont forget turn off shadows (Shader section)

Create all product images
Different image using different TGA type:
2 type - Save default image without compress
10 type - Save image with compress (RLE)

All images have ALPHA channel. (Dont forget to edit)

You need create 5 images for Watermelon
  • 3 images for: ProductIcons (you will see them animated on top of building)
  • 1 image for: ProductPreview (you will see when inspecting product)
  • 1 image for: ProductStorageIcons (you will see them when product is placed inside storage building)

If product is growable you need to create new 4 images for building called Farm
Different image will be used for different grow stage.

After you done this, just place all your files in specific game folders.
Attention:Dont forget each product have unique ID, thats why my images have additional text.

Tutorial: install product
Install your product
Actualy you cant install, just write additional configuration inside file called: Config.gen
This file located *:\*****\Industry Giant 2\config
Attention:DONT FORGET TO CREATE FILE BACKUP

You can open with any file editor (notepad, wordpad)
You can use tool called: SPLIT (to split config file in different parts)

1:: Product_Control
So after you open config.gen find section: Product_Control
So we adding new product Watermelon and we need increase TOTAL PRODUCTS COUNT +1










After that i scrool down and want to see which product is last.
I see last ID: 221 , that means my new product will have ID: 222

For this product i need to write specific information in ONE ROW (What means every number ill explain later):
  • ID (222)
  • CanBeSold (1)
  • HarvesterVehicleID (-666) [If i place 30, vehicle will be combine]
  • MissionFlag (1)
  • ProductAmountResourcesNeeded_1 (0)
  • ProductAmountResourcesNeeded_2 (0)
  • ProductAmountResourcesNeeded_3 (0)
  • ProductGrowthLengthMonth (3)
  • ProductGrowthStartMonth (3)
  • ProductIsAvaliable (1)
  • ProductManufacturingCosts (340)
  • ProductProductionTime (3000)
  • ProductResourcesNeeded_1 (255)
  • ProductResourcesNeeded_2 (255)

My English not perfect, but still i try to explain how to create modifications.
I hope after included images you understand me.

There are different methods for obtaining production:

1: Using map resources, which decrease with each extraction.
2: Growing from "air" based on predefined growth periods (this method is infinite).
3: Using provided resources to create new resources (this method is partially infinite, depending on how it is set up).

In your case, the farm building can "grow/harvest" trees.

Factory_Control (line 296):
Lists the buildings in the game. The farm has ID 3, and its group is 4
Products are assigned based on ProductGroup

Product_Control (line 3022):
Lists the products/items in the game. "Cut wood" has ID 7

ProductProductGroup (line 3997):
Lists product assignments in order by product ID. "Cut wood" (ID 7) is assigned to group 3

To avoid issues, I recommend copying an existing product that already works with the farm and simply assigning it a new ID..

HOW CAN I MODIFY THE CONFIG OF INDUSTRY GIANT2, SO THAT THE VEHICLES REPAIR THEMSELVES? BECAUSE I HAVE MORE THAN 800 AND EVERY TIME I REPAIR THEM I TAKE A WHILE, THANK YOU.

Without source code you can't fix any issues. So wait for developers updates.. (if such still exist)
