G/B Elves Deck Tech
By Winters
This is a deck tech for a Green / Black Elves deck with a full analysis of cards and how to play them. I have personally playtested this deck and used it to get to rank 40 (from 0). One of the most powerful decks in Duels with an 80%+ win rate.

Overview
The following is a Green / Black Elf Deck that I believe is quite possibly one of the strongest decks in Magic Duels. I have been playing it since Day 1 with over an 80% win rate. I have thoroughly play tested this deck and used this deck to get from Rank 0 to Rank 40. I got to Rank 40 in just a few nights of playing, so I figured I should share it with everyone else who likes tribal decks.

The idea of the deck is to get as many Elf creatures on the board as possible and generate a ton of 1/1 Elf tokens before finishing off your opponent with Shaman of the Pack or swinging with everything for lethal damage. Feel free to provide any feedback in the comments below or let me know how this deck works out for you. Good luck!

Deck List
Note: The following deck list is not my original creation, it is a standard list that's pretty popular for G/B Elves and I have tweaked it slightly to my liking. There are several versions of the same deck and no clear author but I found it through Legenvd

Card Analysis
Card
Purpose
A big part of winning with this deck is putting as many elves on the battlefield as possible, Elvish Visionary helps draw in to your core cards. It can also be an early play if you need an elf on the board to trigger cards like Dwynen's Elite. If you get unlucky when drawing your first 7 cards, having 1 or 2 of these can quickly save what would have been a bad hand.
Having card advantage can be important, forcing your opponent to discard can have a huge pay-off. You would be surprised how many people are hesitant to attack this card, but most of the time they will have no choice because this card can hurt. Whether you use it to block and kill a 3 toughness creature, get in for some early aggro, or use it as the sacrifice target for your bone splinters - this card can provide great value.
Like I said before, this deck is all about the Elf spam. The more elves on the board, the more likely you are to win. Dwynen's Elite is a great card for early game, having one of these in your opening hand with a Thornbow Archer or Elvish Visionary means that very early in the game you are going to have the board advantage. Having 3 elves on the board on your second turn can really set the pace for the rest of the match.
Easily one of the core cards of the deck. Saving this card for when you have a decent amount of Elves on the board can quickly turn the game around. Out of nowhere all those 1/1 Elf tokens you have been generating just became 2/2. The lifegain is an important part of how this deck plays, most of our creatures are weak or too important to risk blocking or attacking with, so you can justify taking a few hits to the face if it will allow you to get a bunch of other Elves in play and generate some Elf tokens. Spam the board with Elves, throw down this card and then next turn swing for some massive damage and lifegain. You have to time this right though, you can rest assured that your opponent will target this card as a priority once it's attacking - so either ensure that it's out of kill range or the amount of life you will gain makes the move valuable.
Talk about value, this card not only acts as removal but is also a powerhouse when it comes to destroying your opponents life total. This card is all about playing it at the right moment, you want to hold on to it if you can until your opponent plays one of their mid-late game large creatures. There are quite a few creatures who's power and toughness aren't equal and this can be devastating. Otherwise if your opponent is low on creatures and you're playing aggressively, throw this card down and start swinging like crazy. Menace means it can only be blocked by 2 or more creatures, so if you've lucky enough to keep your opponents creatures to a minimum this card can end a game very quickly.
Given that our purpose is to put a ton of Elves on to the board, no card is better suited than Jagged-Scar Archers. This card can quickly get out of control, and your opponent will have to answer it quickly, this is a great card for putting on some pressure. This deck has very few ways to deal with fliers, so being able to tap this creature to kill fliers is a welcome addition. With thopter decks being so popular in Origins, you can even get away with throwing down this card early to kill those 1/1 fliers.
Another one of the core cards of this deck. This is the card that builds us our Elf army, every time you play an Elf card while this is on the battlefield gets you a 1/1 Elf token. If you have 2 Huntmasters on the board, that's 2 1/1 Elves every time you play an Elf card. Your board presence can grow rapidly, and an opponent who has been beaten down can often be caught by surprise when all of a sudden you go from just a few creatures to a massive army. This card is what makes Dwynen, Gilt-Leaf Daen, Jagged-Scar Archers, and Shaman of the Pack work so well.
I found quite often I came across a lot of enchantment decks, this card lets us get another Elf on the board but also stop our opponents plans in their tracks. This slot is optional and can be exchanged for Lys Alana Scarblade, Scarred Vinebreeder, or Eyeblight Assassin - see the section below for more information on these alternatives.
What would an Elf deck be without Nissa, she's a great way to draw in to those core cards very quickly and if untouched can end a game even faster - it's very hard to answer 6 6/6 creatures. It's best to save Nissa until you have your 7th land in hand and haven't played one this turn, play Nissa and then play the land straight away after her for an instant flip.
This card is our win condition. Save this card for when you have a bunch of Elf creatures on the board to either kill your opponent or can lower their life total to a point where it will be hard for them to stabilize again. This card can 1 shot people under the right conditions.
While this card may not look like much, it can be a lot scarier to your opponent than you might think. It's a 1 drop that can do 2 damage if your opponent doesn't control an Elf. This is an ideal card to have in your opening hand with a swamp for early aggro. It also works wonders at stopping your opponent from launching any early aggression with 1/1 creatures.
This is by far the best removal in the deck and goes perfectly with the playstyle. No matter how tough an opponents creature is, you can kill it. Sure you have to sacrifice a creature, but you should have enough 1/1 creatures to sac. You're basically trading a 1/1 for a much tougher creature. Save this card for the big creatures, especially ones Winnower can't kill.
Our other removal, this card is great for stopping early aggro and keeping the board clear
This card is great at ensuring you draw in to your core cards as fast as possible. And with all the elf tokens you'll be generating, it's easy to fill your board with only the best cards. If you are forced to block an opponent and your creature will die but theirs will survive, sac it with this card before damage to get the most value. Great for chum blocking with 1/1's and then turning them in to something better.
Alternative Cards
In case you aren't finding Reclamation Sage useful in your deck, here are some alternatives you can use:

Card
Purpose
If you want some more creature removal in your deck this can be a pretty good option, it works just like bone splinters but you have to discard the Elf creature from your hand not the battlefield.A lot of the cards in this deck have useful abilities once they enter the battlefield or at least generate another Elf token if there's a Huntmaster in play, so I personally found that I only ever used this in one or two games out of all my matches. Though just because I didn't find it useful doesn't mean you won't.
If you want to tweak the deck to be a little more aggressive you can give your creatures in your graveyard a purpose. This deck doesn't use any return from graveyard skills, so once a creature is dead that's it - however with this card if you have a few creatures in your graveyard and plenty of mana, you can safely exile them to buff up Vinebreeder and swing for some serious damage. I would highly recommend using this card if you don't require enchantment removal.
Another option is to stop any early game aggression or kill of those renown 1/1's before they even get a chance to attack. Not quite as useful as the other options, but I can see how it might be of benefit to some and it doesn't interfere with the overall strategy of the deck.

@Cheston Ghost the card was removed a while ago. Games no longer supported so I have no real interest in spending the time to update these decks since I won't be playing this game anymore.

Doing some playtesting with some tweaks at the moment. Once I come up with something that I feel has a decent enough winrate and is worth playing I will update the guide for everyone :)

Bump for an update to this deck, I have a strong-ish elf based deck, it isn't so good when I come across a heavy flyer deck and I want to see what I can do to improve it

Agreed. This deck isn't what it used to be. Any Ideas to fix it with any of the new cards?

Loved this deck until the update killed it. Miss my Thorn-scar Archers... on top of that they took away everything that had reach EXCEPT the giant mantis.... its like they dont want green to block flying anymore... Green got nerfed

@dancopemanaoe That is essentially what I meant ;) just didn't explain it the right way.

In being less pedantic, might the swapping of a Bone Splinters for a Chorus of Migh help? A lot of elves means a huge increase of strength AND trample - removal any day!

"It's best to save Nissa until you have your 7th land in hand and haven't played one this turn, play Nissa and then play the land straight away after her for an instant flip."

Just nitpicking a bit here. Nissa calls up a land with summoning, so is it really worth waiting to draw a land if you have six and Nissa?
'Hmm I know! Six Land, and a land calling creature, but let's wait until I have an extra one in hand."
Not particularly logical, but it still isn't nesseccary.

Sorry if I came across as rude, but it is worth saying, even if it is pedantic.
