Getting Started
First thing you wanna do is go to "Training Grounds" on the main page and do the "advanced Tutorial" seen here:

Do all those, learn a lil about the game and get the free packs.

Training Grounds

Don't bother with the "Arena" section just yet. Do nodes in the Training Grounds until you get to the part of TGs where it get's stupid hard and seems impossible. This happens to most people around the time you get to "Dead Man" on the map. From that point on, it's best to build a stall deck with Wilrius. If you can, get your hands on cards like Pacifisms (an uncommon from the Eve set), Disarms (common from Eve) and Essence Mantles (uncommon from Core). Fae Combatant is a lil harder to get as it's only available for gems from the set Tribes 2, but totally rocks if you do have it. Basically you wanna make a deck that will clog their field and make it so that their creatures either can't attack or are just attacking for zero. Wilrius helps you do that and helps you gain life to stay around. Then just make sure your deck is always a few cards bigger than theirs. Don't even bother with "win conditions" or trying to put in things to deal damage. Just focus on making sure the deck can clog their field and stay alive until they run out of cards first. That sorta thing should get you through pretty much everything up until Nemesis. Nemesis is dumb, don't even bother until you get a specific set of cards that someone else will talk about in some other guide.

Getting Monies

Find yourself a bronze guild willing to take new players. Farm there as much as you can. And make sure to log in every day and at least do the top and bottom quests in Arena since those give gems and you'll earn some gold on the way. If you don't wanna bother playing people, just pick whatever hero it wants you to win 10 games with and forfeit 10 times in Beginner's arena, you'll still get your rewards.

Spending Monies

Start off spending your gold on Core gold packs. Look for stuff like Dwarven Battle Rigs, Thunder Cats, Vengeful Titana, Fireballs, Firebolts, and Swiftshot Rangers. If you get Rejuve Potions, those are awesome and go in just about everything.

Once you get a good handful of decent Core stuff, don't keep wasting too much more gold on Core packs. Hopefully you'll have a better idea of what sorta deck you wanna make by then. Pick up the rare/epic singles you want from the rotating singles up in the "Shop" tab near the top right. Click on "Cards" and then go to "Singles". Try to get them as close to minimum price as possible (currently 30k for a rare and 45k for epics). You can supplement this with some Rise and Eve packs here and there, but try not to become toooo reliant on packs. A lotta people will compulsively open packs, get nothing good and never have enough gold to do anything when something they do want pops up in Singles or they need new heroes.

As for Heroes. Save up and get Jorma. She's one of the best heroes for beginners and you can build a decent enough deck with her without having a ton of expensive cards.

SAVE YOUR GEMS! Don't waste them on heroes, Don't use them to buy packs and don't buy singles with them unless you're 100% sure you need that single, you've got a lot of extra gems to spare and that single is at minimum price.

Use your gems to buy boxes of the latest sets. Which are Light Ascending and Dark Descension as of the time of this being written. You probably wanna start off with Light Ascending.

Building A Deck

Until you get Jorma, try starting off with either Wilrius or Amaraus. Use stuff like the Core cards mentioned above. Fire Bolts, good creatures, creatures with haste are mostly cool.

Eventually work towards something in this ballpark.

A decent standad Jorma with nothing too terribly fancy save for the 4 Rejuv potions. Mostly Core cards and not terribly expensive stuff from Rise and Eve. You should be able to stomp most Bronze guilds (and probably even hold your own up to gold) with it and at least have a good fighting chance in standard arena until you can start building fancier things.

Easy enough to play, just aggro with removal. Notice that Spiteful Demon is the cheapest creature in the deck aside from all the 4 drops. This makes is so that Jorma's "Furious Revival" ability will always go into Spiteful, which would be a 4/3 flying with haste with that. Usually a good way to finish the opponent off.

That's the basics, you'll figure more stuff out as you go. Okay cool, have fun.
