Introduction
Broken Bots is a multiplayer game in which 2 teams battle for control of the map in various game modes. As you take damage your bot will malfunction. These malfunctions will have either a negative effect such as inverted controls or aim, or a positive effect such as increased speed or spread fire mode.

This guide is intended to give you a brief overview of gameplay mechanics, as well as bot weaponry and skills.
Game Modes
Team Deathmatch
The most simple form of team based battle. The team with the most kills at the end of the match wins.

Capture The Flag
In this game mode the object is to grab the enemy team's flag from their base and bring it back to your flag. In order to capture the flag you need to be holding the enemy flag as you drive over your team's flag base. Your team's flag has to be returned and standing at its base in order for the capture to complete. The team with the most flag captures at the end of the match wins.

King Of The Hill
A hill (defined by the yellow dotted circle) will spawn in a location in the middle of the map. The object of this game mode is to have only players from your team on the hill (within the circle). If no enemy players are on the hill while you or your teammates are, your team will be 'in control' of the hill and start scoring points for every second you can keep control. The team with the most hill points gathered at the end of the match wins.

Crazy King
This game mode is exactly the same as King Of The Hill with the only exception being that the hill will move location at steady intervals.

Survival
This game mode is a coop/singleplayer mode. Spawn in the center of an arena and fight off up to 50 waves of incoming enemies. It starts out easy but gets harder every wave. This is an online mode so invite your online or splitscreen friends to this battle. More players will result in tougher waves.

Infiltration
A single-player mode for those who prefer to battle alone. In this mode you navigate through levels taking on npc's along the way. Find a path to the end by pressing buttons to open doors and defeat the humongous boss bot in the final stage.
Malfunctions
The core mechanic of the game are the malfunctions which can give you power-ups or negatively effect gameplay. It's your job to work around the negative malfunctions and capitalize on the positive effects.

Malfunctions are caused by players using their malfunction gun. This secondary fire (right click / left trigger) is available on all bots and fires a single malfunction bullet provided the weapon is fully charged. The charge is displayed in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. The malfunction gun gains charge every time you hit or kill an enemy. When firing the malfunction gun at a friendly player you will gift them a positive malfunction such as increased speed or bullet spread. If you hit an enemy player they will get a negative malfunction such as reversed control or incorrect aim.

You can spot malfunctioning players by a datastream effect on their bot. The blue effect indicates a positive malfunction, while the red effect indicates a negative malfunction. Malfunctions spread on contact like a virus. So if you are hungry for some power-ups be sure to bump into bots with positive malfunctions, but steer away from the negative ones! If however you are experiencing a negative malfunction yourself, it is probably a good idea to try to 'infect' as many enemy players as you can.
Generators
Each team has a generator on their side of the map. You can hack the enemy generator to get some additional team-wide power-ups. In order to do this, simply locate the enemy generator and drive into it. This will bring up the hacking puzzle. All you have to do is hit the fire button at the right times to allow the energy to flow from left to right. Sounds simple enough, but can be very tricky in the heat of the battle.

There are 3 possible rewards: Double damage for the entire team, a massive EMP that causes negative malfunctions on all enemy players, or spawning a swarm of mini-bots that will fight for your team.
Weapons
There are 5 different types of weapons, each with their own advantages and tradeoffs.

Assault
A fast fire rate will make it easier to hit enemies but slow you down because of the knockback.

Flamethrower
A fast bot with an area-of-effect attack but you need close range to your enemies.

Grenade Launcher
A high armor bot with slow traveling grenades that bounce off walls and have splash damage.

Plasmabeam
Fires a continuous stream of plasma which reaches the target instantly and is easier to aim, but also easier to spot and thus avoid.

Rocket Launcher
A slow but sturdy bot with a low rate of fire but your rockets cause small explosions that result in camera shake and confusion when hitting enemies.
Skills
Heal
A basic defensive skill. 'Heal' doesn't only heal you for a small amount, it also negates any active malfunction, which can be very powerful under the right conditions.

Shockwave
A simple pushback skill which does no damage. Due to the very low cooldown this skill can be very powerful for crowd control on the hill.

EMP
Blast an EMP that makes enemies in a radius around you malfunction. But beware! Malfunctions can result in a positive effect on your enemies.

Shield
A temporary shield in front of you that absorbs any damage. A very powerful defensive skill in the right situation. Combined with the flamethrower this will allow you to get close to your enemies without taking too much damage.

Mine
A basic defensive skill, drop mines near the flag or the hill to keep enemies out.

Turret
A powerful defensive machine. Drop it at any location and it will fire at enemies until destroyed. Turrets are neutral colored so you can't tell what team it belongs too until you are within range. Turrets take team damage so do not blindlessly fire at any turret you pass.

Cloak
Turns you invisible for a while, simple as that.

Heal Wave
A support skill which allows you to heal your teammates, just make sure they are close enough to your bot before firing it off.

Speed Boost
For the flag runners among you. Get away from ambushes quick and outrun anyone going for the flag!

Teleport
Defensive skill or not? Who knows! Hit teleport and you will be teleported out of the battle... or into the battle... or maybe both. Use wisely :)
