If you find the snow too blinding and bright, try my tweaked mod: Translucent Colored Mapmodes - Low Snow, High Color

This mod will be maintained with all of Empathie's original settings.

Rewritten for 1.19 (again!), copied the shader values in Empathie's "Better Color Mapmodes Bright", which was written when the shaders were defined in LUA.

Current version is for 1.19.

If you want to customize it yourself, open the zip file and navigate to gfx/FX/pdxmap.shader and edit the line

float2 vBlend = float2( .75f, 0.25f );

The first number .75 is related to the terrain brightness, and the .25 is the color intensity.

The transparent political mapmode addon in Thick Borders and Recolored Water has the setting at (.45f,.45f) for your reference.

By the way, I use Revolutionary Borders Mod to make the borders look pretty like in the screenshots.
