For failing to destroy the Silicoid Queen, yes, she will sit in your system not triggering a battle. I don't remember the exact thing you need to do to trigger the fight again but you either need to have a flee leave or arrive and the fight will start again. As far as a new fight after several turns, that is most likely her spawning a new queen to send out and that will trigger the fight as well.
Instead, there seems to be some sort of production and/or economy penalty and after some number of turns pass, an anti hive combat will be triggered. If you win this combat the hive disappears from your colony. I'm not certain if the production and/or economy penalty remains or if it disappears on its own or if it disappears when the hive is finally defeated.
Does anyone know more about how this Swarm Infestation works?
Also, how does Trade work?
Is there a minimum number of trade freighters required or would 1 be enough to begin collecting Trade revenue?
