Playing this game on "Hard" removes the save function, and seemingly requires you to beat the game relying only on checkpoints. However, there is still a Quicksave / Quickload functionality, which is (sort of) hidden.

How to Quicksave / Quickload

There is a lot of confusion / misinformation about this, so I wanted to make a quick guide to clear this up for anyone thinking about playing this.

Playing on "Hard" mode removes the manual save option from the game. With the checkpoints being spaced the way they are, this can cause much frustration.

HOWEVER: The buttons aren't listed in the key-remapping options menu, and it never directly tells you, but you can use quicksaves / quickloads playing on "Hard," which changes everything.

F5 = Quicksave
F9 = Quickload

Not that shocking, as this is the case with many PC games.

You will only have the one save slot available, so be careful. If you happen to quicksave in a situation where you keep insta-dying, then you can fall back on the safety of the checkpoints.

i discovered that F9 was mapped to quick-reload the very first time i tried to screenshot this game... because that was my STEAM-screenshot hotkey of choice...

let's just say i wasn't amused. anyway, thank you for this guide!

(and thankfully, i did not remap it to F5...)

It won't be the best game you play all year, but I find it enjoyable. Although I am easily amused and don't subscribe to the modern zeitgeist of constantly being disappointed in everything
