New Atlantis

Descrizione
In the 22nd century much of Earth's climates have changed to a dry, arid and hot desert. Mankind is on the brink of extinction by wars over the last farmable lands...

There were no signs of change in the predictions made by the few scientists that were left in Western civilisation, not a glimmer of hope for the future.

Until suddenly, after a large earthquake in the Mojave desert, an unexplained geo-logical event happened: the once scorching hot Death Valley has changed into an oasis with at the center a lush green plateau. Filled with plenty resources for humanity to survive. We named it: New Atlantis!

It has:

- 4 road, 4 train, 3 boat and 4 airplane connections both in/out.
- every natural resource scattered amongst the plateau.
- everything within the 25 tiles is handsculpted using the map editor, except the surrounding mountain edges which are taken from a Death Valley USGS heightmap which is slightly adjusted.
- placing metro lines accross the many parts of the plateau can be tricky/hard so feel free to adjust the edges with a Terraform mod or with the map-editor for a "hassle-free" experience.

It is inspired by the myth surrounding the disappearance Atlantis and the animated movie from Disney. I felt there was need for a map with many waterfalls, lush paradise vs desert and a layered landscape. I'm really satisfied with the result using both handmade parts and an existing height map.

Pick up your resources, gather the last survivors of Earth and make your way to New Atlantis!

@Old Cat They updated how trees work, this is made with old version trees. In order to remove the foresty resource you need:
- Tree Anarchy (Prop and Tree Anarchy - use the revisited/fixed version).
- Surface Painter (I believe I could be mistaken)
Now do the following:
1. You should have three new buttons; Tree Snapping, Tree Anarchy & Foresty Locked/Unlocked.
2. Put foresty to unlocked.
3. Plant the entire area with dense trees.
4. Remove the trees and boop the area should clear up.
5. You can now plant the new tree versions instead which does NOT block fertile land but in fact spreads it.

For some reeason, all fertile lands under rivers. Meaning they are unavailable without extensive digging (which also would ruin the map looks).

Hey JukedBox! I really enjoyed playing this map a few times back when it first came out. I'm currently working on a remastered version for myself to enjoy playing it again with all the developments to the game over the past few years. Would you mind if I made that version public to share with others, with credit and links to your wonderfully creative original map?

I'm building on the map right now. I enjoy the difficulty of building on it. but I have a question: is the center mass SUPPOSED to flood occasionally? -or do I have a busted water pipe? not even joking, I have weather on but not natural disasters per se. it'll rain, then flood for a few in game days before returning to normal. I looked for a hidden water source but other than the strategically placed ones in the center canyon and surrounding points, I found nothing.

This is just amazing, loved the roleplay behing it!

I'm trying to upload an alternative version that I modified to play (just "smoothed" the railways and roads and inserted custom intersections <3), but it dosn't show the Share button on the Content Manager :/
