Starter's Guide to Dungeon Souls
By HackedNightmare
A starter's guide for Dungeon Souls. This guide will hopefully help everybody get a good understanding of the game or what to expect. Please note that this guide is unfinished at the moment, as I'm still figuring stuff out and adding more content to the guide. Please post any feedback or questions you may have. I will answer all the questions I can.

Introduction
This guide will hopefully help players get a good understanding of how Dungeon Souls works and what you should expect. I myself don't know how everything works or what everything is in this game, as this is an Early Access title as of now and anything could change at any time. I will be trying my best to keep this guide up to date as much as possible. Many of you probably already know half or all of the stuff in here, but if you don't, then I hope it helps. I will be adding much more to this guide as the game's development progresses. Please leave a comment if I made any errors, if I forgot something, or if I have something incorrect or inaccurate.

Characters
BARBARIAN

The Barbarian is majorly a CQC (Close Quarters Combat) type of character. His attacks are fairly short ranged at the moment. The Barbarian currently starts off with the most amount of HP in the game, along with the second to highest defense. When playing as a Barbarian, you will most likely take a lot of hits from enemies due to the fact that you must get close to them to deal a good amount of damage. Although the Barbarian starts off with the second highest DEF in the game and most HP, it unfortunately does not help much alone if you're trying to progress without a few good items. His base stats at start are:
    STATS
  • 120 HP
  • 5+3 ATK
  • 1 DEF
  • 1.50 SPD
  • 0 MAG
  • 1 RES
  • 40% ACC

    SKILLS
    • AXE SWING (LMB)

The Axe Swing is the Barbarian's default attack. It has a very short range and does approximately 7-16 damage at level 1 and no buffs. This attack has a cooldown of 0.60.

    • SHOUT OF RAGE (Q)

The Barbarian's first skill, Shout of Rage, is a whirlwind attack that lasts for 5 seconds. Within the 5 seconds, you are able to spam the attack button as many times as you like; making the skill quite easy to clear out enemies summoned at markings or large crowds of enemies. The Shout of Rage skill damages any enemy within range of the attack for approximately 8-12 damage on level 1 without buffs with a cooldown of 10 seconds. This skill is BEST used with the items "Assassin's Blade" and which resets cooldowns for every critical hit, and "Beating Brain" which raises your ATK when your HP is low; enabling you to almost constantly do massive amounts of damage in a minimal time frame.

    • THUNDER AXE (E)
[/previewicon]
Thunder Axe, the Barbarian's second skill, is an AOE blast of lightning that deals 3-6 damage to all enemies within its radius and has a hit count of approximately 6-7 at level 1 with no buffs and a cooldown of 20 seconds.

THIEF

The Thief is majorly a mid ranged type of character. As of now, the thief character's SPD starts at 0.06, being the fastest character in the game, yet also has the lowest amount of HP at start. The thief is a rather good choice to start off with if you're just getting into the game, in my opinion. He's fast, does a good amount of damage, has a decent accuracy, and can crowd control fairly decently with the correct items. Thief's base stats are as follows:

    STATS
  • 40 HP
  • 3+1 ATK
  • 1 DEF
  • 2 SPD
  • 0 MAG
  • 1 RES
  • 80% ACC

SKILLS
  • DAGGER THROW (LMB)

Dagger Throw is the thief's default attack. He is able to throw a dagger every 0.17 seconds, allowing you to throw a very vast amount in a matter of seconds. Each dagger does approximately 4-6 damage and an 8 on a critical with no buffs and level 1. This attack is more than efficient against enemies at the start of the game; at least on Normal difficulty.

  • THIEF BOMB (Q)

The thief's first skill, Thief Bomb, launches a bomb at any desired direction and is immediately followed by a volley of explosions in a circle formation on impact. This skill also makes clearing summoning markers and large crowds of enemies simple to clear. This attack also has an accuracy of 100%, as long as the enemies are in the vicinity of the explosion. The attack itself inflicts damage anywhere from 4-12 on level 1 with no buffs. For such a good attack, there is only a short 8 second cooldown.

  • INVISIBILITY (E)

The theif's second skill, invisibility, turns your character invisible. While in this state, you are invincible to enemy damage and traps for 3 seconds. This skill can be used very strategically by getting out of situations you might find yourself in such as being trapped in a corner or wish to evade a horde of enemies at a time. The cooldown for this skill is 14 seconds.

ARCHER

The Archer, personally one of my favorite classes, has a long ranged type of playstyle. Archer's arrows can go quite a distance to ensure a shot on any enemy, no matter how far they may be. The archer, as of now, is the second most accurate character in the game with a 90% rate at start. Both of archer's skills can slay multiple foes at a time with ease. Archer's starting stats are as followed:

STATS
  • 50 HP
  • 4+2 ATK
  • 1 DEF
  • 1.75 SPD
  • 0 MAG
  • 1 RES
  • 90% ACC

SKILLS
  • ARROW SHOOT (LMB)
Archer's default attack, Arrow Shoot, is an attack that pretty much shoots arrows at the same speed of the thief, but slightly slower at the cooldown speed of 0.33 seconds. These arrows inflict damage of approximately 5-6 per hit at level 1 with no buffs.

  • PENTUPLE ARROW (Q)

Archer's first skill, Pentuple Arrow, allows you to shoot 5 arrows at a time, making this a great skill to use when needing to wipe out multiple enemies at once. This skill's damage is based off your character's current damage base and has a cooldown of 12 seconds.

  • RAIN OF ARROWS (E)

Archer's second skill, Rain of Arrows, is an AOE attack that rains down a plethora of 10 arrows down on any enemy that is in the vicinity. This skill is guaranteed to wreck havoc on massive hordes of enemies and even bosses that you may face. The cooldown for this skill is a time of 18 seconds.
Characters - Part 2
WARRIOR

Similar to the Barbarian, the Warrior is classified as the "Balanced" character due to his stats being the most even in all categories. The Warrior can slash multiple enemies at once due to his medium range abilities. Starting out with the most DEF in the game, he can be a very stable and interesting class to play. Warrior's stats are as shown:

STATS
  • 80 HP
  • 4+4 ATK
  • 3+3 DEF
  • 1.60 SPD
  • 3 MAG
  • 1 RES
  • 50% ACC

SKILLS
  • SWORD SLASH (LMB)

The Warrior's default attack, Sword Slash, does just that. His slash is a mid/close-range attack that inflicts approximately 2-4 damage at level 1 with no buffs. This attack can hit multiple enemies at once if they are in range and has a cooldown of 0.50.

  • MULTI CLEAVE (Q)

The Warrior's first skill, Multi Cleave, decimates and weakens any enemy within its fairly large radius. It can clear large groups of enemies and marking summons with vast ease due to its extensive circle AOE. The damage output of this skill is dependent on your character's base ATK and has a cooldown of 12 seconds.

  • MEGA SWORDS (E)

The Warrior's final skill, Mega Swords, sends a devastating shockwave from your sword hurling toward any enemy you choose. It can cut through multiple enemies at a time and has a fair width. The damage inflicted on enemies is dependent on your character's base skill and has a cooldown of only 10 seconds.

WIZARD

The Wizard is a long-ranged character with long ranged skills and attacks and can be used very well for crowd control. Close range, the Wizard isn't as deadly, but can still emerge victorious with enough strategy. The Wizard can be unlocked by finding the item "Merlin's Hat", which is a random drop. The Wizard's stats are as shown:

STATS
  • 60 HP
  • 3 ATK
  • 1 DEF
  • 1.70 SPD
  • 20 MAG
  • 4 RES
  • 78% ACC

SKILLS
  • FIREBALL (LMB)

The Wizard's primary default attack, Fireball, is able to launch 3 balls of fire at your opponents; possibly burning them. The damage inflicted on enemies with this attack is 6 damage and 12 on critical as level 1 with no buffs. Can easily remove enemies from your sight and potentially set them on fire. The cooldown for this attack is 1 second.

  • HELL OF FIRE (Q)

The Wizard's first skill, Hell of Fire, creates a massive field of fire around you, turning your enemies into nothing but ashes. This attack can easily rid enemies from groups and is the main crowd controller. This skill inflicts damage on enemies usually by criticals dependent on your bonus damage. This skill was used at level 1 with no buffs. The cooldown for this skill is surprisingly short with only 6 seconds.

  • DUPLICATE (E)

The Wizard's final skill, Duplicate, enables you to create a decoy in your vicinity as to which you can teleport to; leaving your enemies stunned and unable to move for a few seconds. This skill can be used strategically to paralyze foes and finish them with another move. The cooldown for this skill is 15 seconds.

CLERIC

The Cleric or Priest, is the religious or holy figure in Dungeon Souls. His attacks are produced by light and can multiply his attacks and regenerate his own HP. This character is the most entertaining to play in my opinion due to his mid/long-range attacks and his ability to strategically multiply them. The Cleric can be unlocked by killing the Soul Guardian; the final boss. The Cleric's stats are as followed:

STRATS
  • 50 HP
  • 2+1 ATK
  • 1 DEF
  • 1.65 SPD
  • 21 MAG
  • 5 RES
  • 80% ACC

SKILLS
  • HOLY LIGHT (LMB)

The Cleric's primary default attack, Holy Light, casts a projectile that has the ability to ricochet off walls; making it a strategic attack. Inflicted damage is approximately 2-4 damage on level 1 with no buffs. The cooldown for this attack is 0.60 seconds.
[/list]

  • HOLY GATE (Q)

The Cleric's first skill, Holy Gate, can be placed down anywhere in your vicinity. Any projectile that is shot through it is instantaneously turned into multiple projectiles, allowing you to disintegrate enemies without even having to be near them if done correctly. The inflicted damage done by this skill is dependent on your character's base ATK skill. The cooldown for this skill is 20 seconds.

  • REGENERATION (E)

Cleric's final skill, Regeneration, allows Cleric to regenerate 10 HP every 3 seconds, making this character an interesting one. The cooldown for this skill is 15 seconds.

NECROMANCER

The Necromancer is a mid/long range character. He currently starts off with an accuracy of 90%. He is able to summon up to 3 skeletons at once and can increase his own attack power at a cost. Unfortunately, this character doesn't do too good at all in hallways and long corridors since a lot of his shots end up hitting a wall. I have no strategies or tips for this character at the moment. The Necromancer can be unlocked by killing 150 skeletons in a single run. His stats are as shown:

STATS
  • 60 HP
  • 1 ATK
  • 1 DEF
  • 1.65 SPD
  • 5+3 MAG
  • 1 RES
  • 90% ACC

  • NECROTIC BLAST (LMB)

Necrotic Blast, the Necromancer's default attack, is a somewhat accurate long-ranged projectile that has a 55% chance to scatter. This attack can do approximately 4-7 damage and has a cooldown of 0.60 seconds.

  • BLOOD FOR ATTACK (Q)

Necromancer's first skill, Blood for Attack, is a skill that allows Necromancer to increase his default attack by 50%. However, each time the attack is used with this skill active, the cost is 2% of your HP. The cooldown for this skill is 3 seconds.

  • SUMMON (E)

The Necromancer's second skill, Summon, allows Necromancer to summon up to 3 skeletons at once that will attack other enemies near the vicinity for a fairly good amount of damage. After 10 seconds, the summoned skeletons will vanish and return 20% of your max HP. The cooldown for this skill is 15 seconds.

Traps
This section is just about some information on the current traps in the game. I could possibly be missing one, but these are the most common ones that have been encountered many times before.

ARROW TRAP

Simple arrow trap. Very easy to avoid and only shoots when you are standing in one of the directions an arrow is pointing. It can be destroyed fairly easily.

MARKER TRAP

I guess these technically aren't traps considering that you must activate them in order to proceed, but I'm classifying it as a trap due to the fact that once activated, these markers will summon approximately 8 enemies around it.

LANTERN TRAP

I don't know what to call these, so I'm calling it a lantern for now. These traps will launch 3 projectiles in your general direction. Not too hard to avoid, but running into them is common. These can be destroyed in approximately 2-3 hits.

MOVING SPIKES

These traps first appear after you kill the Skeleton King. They move approximately every 3 seconds and do little damage. However, keep an eye out for these traps, as they can blend in with the environment

BOULDER TRAP

These traps can appear in the first floor and are usually at every corner. They are small red signs and are very visible and easy to avoid.

FIRE TRAP

You'll usually find these traps around the dark dungeons. If approached, this trap will launch 4 fireballs in all 4 directions. Fortunately, this trap can also kill enemies if they are hit with one of its projectiles.
Potions
With the new potions, there don't seem to be any downsides to them except for the chance factor. Picking them up for a damage buff or for a critical hit rate increase can prove very useful in some situations.

POTION

Effect: HEALS SMALL AMOUNT OF HP (20%)

POTION OF RAGE

Effect: DEALS DOUBLE DAMAGE FOR 10 SECONDS

POTION OF RETRIEVE

Effect: 50% CHANCE TO REGAIN YOUR HEALTH

POTION OF PENETRATION

Effect: INCREASE CRITICAL CHANCE BY 500% FOR 15 SECONDS
Enemies/Bosses
This is a guide for the enemies in the game and where they appear and what to expect from them.

DARK DUNGEON ENEMIES:

  • BATS

These enemies are very weak and only shoot a single ball of slime at you. These enemies can also appear around Markings.

  • DEMON BATS

Similar to the other bat-like enemy, these mobs have more HP than them and launch 3 projectiles in your general direction instead of just one. These enemies are also quite common.

  • EYE DEMONS

I didn't know a name for this enemy, so I just named it the first thing that came in my head.
These enemies are somewhat common in the first two floors. They move extremely fast and attempt to run towards you. They can deal a good amount of damage. However, their HP is somewhat low

  • SKELETONS

Skeletons are the most common to find in the Dark Dungeons. They can appear quite frequently at Markings. They have a decent amount of HP and have short range attacks.

  • SUMMONERS

The summoners, or Necromancers, have the ability to summon approximately 5 skeletons around him when you are spotted by him. That is typically his method of attack. He has a fair amount of HP and moves quite slow.

  • MINOTAURS

Minotaurs are very slow, but do a substantial amount of damage if you get close enough to it and have a somewhat large amount of HP. Mid/long-range attacks are recommended to kill it.

DARK DUNGEON - BOSS
  • SKELETON KING

The first boss, the Skeleton King, is a powerful boss that can easily kill you if you don't have enough ATK or SPD. He starts out with 800 HP and mainly launches multiple projectiles at you. He is also able to teleport around the room, summon a horde of mobs, and can summon and use magic such as fire. Encountering him at a mid/long-range is recommended. Healing potions and the skill to evade projectiles is also recommended.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SEWERS ENEMIES:

  • MINIATURE SLIMES

These small slimes can be killed very easily and attempt to dash at you to inflict damage. They aren't much alone, but being cautious is nessasary when they are in large groups.

  • SLIMES

The slimes in the sewers are very common. They don't do much damage and have a low amount of HP. They can also appear at markings and split into 2 miniature slimes when killed.

  • RATS

The sewer rats are also a very common enemy. Their attack damage is slightly dangerous and have a good amount of HP. They move at a somewhat decent pace and have the possibility of inflicting poison to you.

  • SEWER BEETLES

I don't know what these are exactly, but they look like radiated beetles. These enemies will often show up at markings. Although they move quite slow, their arrow projectiles leave a nice dent in your HP bar and have a very good amount of HP themselfs.

  • SLIME MONSTER

These slime monsters are similar to the minotaurs. They are extremely slow, yet have a massive amount of HP and do a large sum of damage to your character. However, due to their lack of mobility, they are easy to kill from a distance.

SEWERS - BOSS
  • GIGANTUM SLIME

The second boss, Gigantum Slime, is another powerful boss that can easily eliminate you if you do not dodge him or his projectiles correctly. He starts off with 3000 HP and has a skull over the front of him that is able to defend him against attacks. Over time, the skull will either break from the damage input or disappear. The Gigantum Slime is able to move around the room by either sliding or performing a jump attack near you. Good speed and medium to long distance is recommended for this fight due to some of his attack patterns being almost unpredictable.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FROST CAVERNS ENEMIES:

These enemies have a small amount of HP and are able to spawn at markings. They hardly move and shoot 3 projectiles that they must charge. Despite their weak appearance, their attack does a large amount of damage. Fortunately, this projectile is slow. It is still advised to kill them quickly while they are charging.

These snowmen are similar to the skeletons that you find at the Dark Dungeon. They move somewhat quick, have a fair amount of HP and attack for a well amount of damage with a candycane. They are unable to appear at a markings and appear around the caverns randomly.

These enemies have a good amount of HP and have the ability to shoot projectile lasers at you that also do a well amount of damage. They are able to be summoned at markings and could be deadly in groups.

These enemies appear randomly throughout the caverns and are similar to the other giant enemies in other areas. They are able to quickly roll around the area and have a large amount of HP. Unlike the other large enemies, these monsters can shoot 3 large projectiles at you that do a massive amount of damage. It is advised to keep distance between you and this enemy.

FROST CAVERNS - BOSS
  • LADY LAINE

The third boss, Lady Laine, starts off with 3000 HP. This boss's attacks are primarily long ranged and most of them are able to slow you down. Unfortunately, if you are slowed by one of its attacks, you will become more prone to her other attacks if your speed is not high enough. This boss has the ability to teleport around the room and is able to summon multiple snowmen into the floor. Quick movement for evasion of her attacks and high damage is recommended for this fight.
