This is a guide made purely to supply tips on making gold, and saving gold throughout mabinogi! The things that will be talked about in this guide are in the table of contents, most likely to your right! :)

If any of the information in this guide helps you out in any way, please be sure to leave a rating!
Gold In Mabinogi
GOLD IN MABI
As you should already know, Gold is the primary source of currency in this game, the secondary source being ducats.

Gold is used to buy items from NPCs (excluding most event shops, as well as special-currency trade NPCs).

Gold is also used to buy items from other players via trade, housing boards, or personal shops.
Making Gold Method #1 - Farming - Part 1
MISSION FARMING
The first, and honestly best, way to make gold is to spam missions that drop valuable items. These valuable items can then be sold to obtain gold. Many end-game players will agree that this is the best way to make gold. This includes, but is not limited to the following missions.

SHADOW WIZARD ELITE
This Shadow Mission gives good gold drops, as well as a chance to get some uncommon items such as Broken Seal Chains[wiki.mabi.world], Giant-Revamp Materials, and Cressida Wear[wiki.mabi.world]. Additionally, when paired with Shadow Crystals[wiki.mabi.world], you can make a large amount of both Gold and Experience.

The only issue with this mission is that you'll need to find an Elite Pass[wiki.mabi.world] or obtain an Unlimited Shadow Mission Pass[wiki.mabi.world] to access this Mission. Alternatively, you could keep an eye out for groups that get together to spam this mission, as it happens occasionally throughout the week.

In the event that this happens to be a Daily Shadow Mission, you can earn much more rewards from one run of this mission.

Lastly, while Hard mode is okay to run this mission on, you will lose the ability to earn Celtic Material Drops, meaning that the only valuable item you could get out of the mission is the Cressida Wear[wiki.mabi.world]. Everything else is simply junk that may, at best, be able to be used as an erg ingredient.

LORD MISSIONS
Suitable for midgame players, Lord Missions can be a good source of gold when ran with a Shadow Crystal. You run the chance of obtaining certain enchants that can be sold for a considerable amount.

I highly recommend running the following missions, as they are fast and offer good rewards:

ADVANCED HARDMODE DUNGEONS
Suitable for midgame players, advanced hardmode dungeons can drop a variety of uncommon and rare items if you are lucky. The dungeons that I'd personally recommend that you run are:
  • Alby AHM[wiki.mabinogiworld.com] - Run with 4 players to allow each person to get 2 end chests. Contains pretty much all rare & valuable materials for celtic & giant weapons.
  • Rundal AHM[wiki.mabinogiworld.com] - Chance at getting the ultra-rare Broken Magic Essence[wiki.mabinogiworld.com].
  • Rabbie Phantasm[wiki.mabinogiworld.com] - Although this is not necessarily an AHM dungeon, it is Rabbie's equivalent of it. For late-game players.
  • Veteran Dungeons[wiki.mabinogiworld.com] - Although this is not necessarily an AHM dungeon, it is in essence a hardcore dungeon made for early-endgame players. Its rewards include various valuables such as some very rare enchants, Gem Powders, and Eweca/Ladeca Upgrade Stones. Though, the dungeon is (imo) annoying to run but may prove worthwhile to some players.

SIDHE FINNACHAID
These missions are mainly recommended for mid- & late-game players. At the end of these missions, Echostones[wiki.mabi.world], which are essentially stat-enhancing pieces of equipment (contained in its own tab), can be acquired & upgraded to give special abilities. The system is very similar to the Reforge[wiki.mabi.world] system, but there are many unique abilities that can only be obtained using the echostone system.

If you happen to run this mission enough times to upgrade your echostone to a high grade, and happen to get good awakening bonuses on them, then you'll be able to make multiple millions off of selling that echostone.

Alternatively, you could fragment[wiki.mabi.world] the echostone, and sell the supplements, stimulants, or valuable items that you may happen to get from it. However, if you have an echostone that is worth multiple millions, I'd recommend that you avoid fragmenting it, and either use it for yourself or sell it on.
Making Gold Method #1 - Farming - Part 2
MISSION FARMING, CONTINUED
To continue, we'll talk about endgame mission types that you can farm to make most of your gold.

TECH DUINN MISSIONS
Tech Duinn is an early-endgame mission type that drops valuable materials that can be used to craft very valuable and powerful items. If you are able to get a group together to run these missions, I would highly recommend that you run these sorts of missions.

The best Tech Duinn to run (as of right now), is the Feth Fiada[wiki.mabinogiworld.com] Mission. This mission is the fastest Tech mission to run, and on Hard difficulty it can reward an Abyssal Orb[wiki.mabinogiworld.com], a Magical Mist Crystal[wiki.mabinogiworld.com], a Functional Geata Fragment[wiki.mabinogiworld.com], as well as various rare enchants[wiki.mabinogiworld.com]. The former three are used for various expensive endgame items. You're also likely to get a Vengeance-Imbued material[wiki.mabinogiworld.com], which often sell for a decent amount as well. And finally, you're guaranteed to get a check, rewarding up to 350,000 gold.

If you run these missions after a new arcana has come out, you can also make large profits selling the guaranteed Smoldering Threads[wiki.mabinogiworld.com] that drop in these missions. So definitely take advantage of supply and demand during these times, assuming you're not planning to upgrade your link with the new arcana(s)!

GLENN BEARNA
Glenn Bearna is a mid-to-late endgame mission type that drops very valuable items and materials that can be used to craft very valuable items, and upgrade existing items. These generally require groups to run (which won't be the case in a future update). Their barrier to entry is having a max-level Arcana, though don't feel bashful about joining for groups as most random groups are able to clear the normal mode for the dungeon.

Normal mode gives you Frostflame Threads[wiki.mabinogiworld.com] guaranteed, which if you're running these when a new arcana drops, they can be sold for a large profits. The drops themselves aren't very meaningful, though every run of this mission, regardless of the difficulty, gives you a small chance of obtaining valuable enchant scrolls, most notably Pallid[wiki.mabinogiworld.com].

Hard & Primeval Winter generally require experienced and coordinated groups to complete, but reward generally the best items in the game. There are too many to mention all of the rewards, but a handful of notable rewards include Set Effect Enhancement Scrolls, Crystallized Remnants of Winters[wiki.mabinogiworld.com], and Winter Dream Terminus Crystals[wiki.mabinogiworld.com].. As well as some specific to Primeval Winter like the Unfinished Reverie's Diadem Halo, Homestead Cailleach's Barrier Figure[wiki.mabinogiworld.com], and some unique & extremely rare enchant scrolls.

Regardless of the difficulty of the missions, they're worth running often as you get rewarded with Frostwork Crystal Shards[wiki.mabinogiworld.com], which are essentially the currency used for the pity mechanic of this mission type. You can spend these shards on materials and crafting manuals to create valuable items, such as the Ceann Bliana Scholar's Ringbands[wiki.mabinogiworld.com].

CROM BAS
Crom Bas is a mid-to-late endgame mission type that drops very valuable items and materials, and is the source of the strongest weapons in the game for most classes (besides Staff Magic and Archery).

Making Gold Method #2 - Selling Items
SELLING ITEMS
Items can be sold in a variety of ways in Mabinogi. Navigate through the subsections of this method to find out more about the ways you can go about selling items obtained through farming, gachapon, and so on.
Making Gold Method #2a - Selling Items - Personal Shops
TOWN MARKET
In Mabinogi, you'll come across items that are wanted by other people, via Rare Drops or RNG chances. What you'll want to do with that stuff is sell it. The easiest way is to sell it is in a personal shop.

If you didn't already know, Channel #1 is the most common place on most servers to sell items via personal shop, and that is most likely where you're best to find a buyer. Be smart about where you put up your shop, as in some places you will be limited to how much you can sell.

PERSONAL SHOP BAGS
You can buy personal shop bags[wiki.mabi.world] from general stores, or recieve special ones from events, gachapons, through NX, or from other players. This is NEEDED to be able to start your personal shop.

MERCHANT LICENSES
Merchant licenses are licenses that vary throughout towns, which can be bought from the town bank, and are used to set up a personal shop and sell items.
-The best place to sell items at is Dunbarton, as it is essentially the community hub, where everybody goes to either buy/sell things or go AFK.
-The 2nd best place to sell items at is Belvast, since people who teleport to Belvast Island will spawn very close to the Personal Shop area!

BROWNIES
Personal Shop Brownies will guard your shop for you so you can continue playing Mabinogi! Alternatively, you could stay at your shop and go afk/let things sell, or let your pet guard the shop. (Note: Allowing pets to watch over your shop will not drain their summon time!)

OVERALL WARNING: MOVING AWAY FROM A PERSONAL SHOP WITHOUT ANY PROTECTION WILL CAUSE IT TO CLOSE DOWN!
Making Gold Method #2b - Selling Items - Housing
HOUSING MARKET
To start, Housing requires Mabinogi Premium Service, meaning that they can only be used temporarily.

Housing can be found in the residential areas of Uladh. You can bid on a specific house, and after 7 days, you can obtain the house (only if you are the winning bid). You recieve a key for quick teleportation, and have to pay rent on a basis.

Onto the point of selling items, you can place items in your home and set a price, similiar to Personal Shops, but instead, they will be advertised on Housing Boards for as long as you want them to, even when you're offline.

Making Gold Method #2c - Selling Items - Auction House
The Auction House
The Auction House is a feature in the game that allows you to buy and sell items from players in a very convenient way. It can be accessed by using the button located next to the "Shop" button ingame.

When you open the Auction House, you will notice a bunch of categories to the left-hand side of the menu. If you are interested in buying from the Auction House, you can navigate it through this way.

To sell items on the Auction House, you can navigate to the tab titled "My Auctions". From here, you can list almost any tradable item, and manage any currently auctioned items, or retrieve any purchased items.

The nice thing about the auction board is that you do not need to be online for things to be sold. You can place an item up for sale via the Auction House, and leave it to sell for the duration of its auction. Additionally, you have the unique option of creating bids on a specified item. For more information on Auction Houses, visit the wiki page on it through this[wiki.mabi.world] link.
Making Gold Method #2d - Selling Items - Businesses
PLAYER-RAN BUSINESS
If you're trying to figure out what to sell, you could start a "business" based off of creating and selling much needed materials. Some things I've seen being sold regularly are:

Item

Thread Balls
Weaving
Tough Strings/Threads
Weaving
Leather Straps
Weaving
Leathers
Ingredient Hunting
Handicraft Items
Handicraft
High-Grade Firewoods

Church Part-Time Job
Dye Ampoules
Varies[wiki.mabi.world]

It can be done through any of the previously mentioned systems. In my opinion though, the most effective system to start a "business" in is through the Personal Shop system.
Making Gold Method #3 - Picking Up Gold
GOLD DROPS
The most straight-forward method of making gold is to pick up your gold. This means that whenever a mob the you defeat drops gold, you pick it up; this can be automated with the use of a doll from a doll bag[wiki.mabinogiworld.com].

Not only is this done after defeating a mob, but also after you clear a dungeon; you want to pick up the gold that was in the chest. Like I said, this method is pretty straight-forward, yet some people tend to ignore this method and stay poor.

INCREASING THE LUCK STAT
If you would like to increase your gold drops, try increasing your LUCK stat. You can increase it naturally by leveling up, or increase it permanently by ranking up these skills:
Name
Class
Gold Strike
Commerce

You can also clear these generations for 3 points of additonal permanent luck each:

Additionally, you can increase your luck further by raising the level of specific talents. The talents and their corresponding luck bonuses are as follows:

4 - Green
5 - Naive

Making Gold Method #4 - Part-Time Jobs
PART-TIME JOBS
Ever since Part-Time Jobs were updated, they've become a very easy, passive way to make gold in Mabinogi. These jobs are available once every ingame day (36 minutes) and can be completed to obtain items, many of which are items that can be sold for a decent amount of gold (for very little effort!).

JOB GRADES
In order to get as much out of the Part-Time Jobs as possible, you should aim to get Advanced-level jobs for the job type. This is not by NPC, but rather by job type. For example, if you do the weapon shop part time job a certain number of times, then for every weapon shop owner who offers a part time job, your job grade will be decided based off of total completions for that job type. The following details the job grade and required completions, universal for all jobs:

Job Grade
Minimum Successful Completions
Basic
0
Intermediate
50
Advanced
100

RECOMMENDED JOBS
The following is a table detailing the job types I'd recommend working regularly, as well as the rewards you can get from them that sell for a good amount:

Making Gold Method #5 - Fynni Pets
FYNNI PETS
As part of the Pet Training talent, you'll visit Mag Mell and learn how to blossom Fynni Pets.

FYNNI BLOSSOMING
These Fynni Pets are essentially mini pets used as sacrifices for Fynn Pets, which are upgraded versions of your regular pets. You can either sacrifice them as described, or sell them in Mag Mell to Fionnait for gold.

In order to set things up, you'll want to create 3 Fynni Blossoming Cages[wiki.mabinogiworld.com]. You should end up with 4 total since you get one for free. You cannot have more than 4 at a time per character. From there, all you'll need is a Fynni Bell[wiki.mabinogiworld.com] and some Fynni Gems[wiki.mabinogiworld.com]!

FYNNI GEMS
In order to farm Fynni Gems, I highly suggest going to either Fiodh Intermediate[wiki.mabinogiworld.com] or Fiodh Advanced[wiki.mabinogiworld.com], and killing as many Werewolf enemies as possible. With the Fynni Catching[wiki.mabinogiworld.com] skill, these werewolves have a chance of dropping their respective Fynni Gem, which is an A-Rank Fynni Gem, meaning that it will reward you with the most amount of gold when sold.

CASHING OUT
Once you have the gems, you just need to Blossom them each real life day. As with Rank 1 Fynni Blossoming, it'll take 17 hours to blossom the Werewolf into a Fynni Pet Whistle.

Once the blossoming time has passed, simply complete the blossoming process and take the whistles back to Fionnait, who will give you 40,000 gold per whistle. This means that if you do this regularly, you can passively make 160,000 gold daily.
Making Gold Method #6 - Gachapon
GACHA

Unfortunately, Mabinogi is cursed with a sort of "pay-to-win" factor, which is widely frowned upon in the gaming industry. This is a part of Mabinogi through the Gachapon system, which is essentially a lootbox of sorts that can be purchased via microtransactions.

I won't go into too much detail in this section, but if you don't like any of the other ways listed in this guide, then the last and, to many players, the best method of making gold is by purchasing Gachapon. So long as you are lucky, you will get items that are worth millions of gold from Gachapon. More recently, Nexon has been putting armor with unique set bonuses into the latest Gachapons. What makes it pay-to-win, is that they are only obtainable through Gachapon, so because of this, they are worth millions of gold, and can be gotten (with a bit of luck) by simply paying. Otherwise, you'd have to use one of the previous methods to make enough gold to buy these equipment items.

I would recommend to open Gachapon every now and again, but only if the items you get from it are mostly valuable, and if the guaranteed items you get are useful (such as Shadow Crystals).
Making Gold Method #7 - Event Participation
EVENTS

Another great way to make gold passively is to participate in events!

Events occur regularly throughout Mabinogi, and can give limited items that players will likely want in the future! Of course, you can choose to hold onto the event rewards for your own use, or sell them for millions of gold (depending on the item, ofc).

Recurring events that I would recommend that you participate in include (NOTE: This is not an exhaustive list):
  • Anime Crossover Events
  • Master Plan Event
  • Pre-Generation/Pre-Talent Update Events
  • Family Weekend Fishing Event
  • Anniversary Events
  • Connous Beach Vacation
  • Doki Doki Island Events
  • Attendance Events
  • And really, anything that gives good rewards!
Saving Up Gold
SAVING STRATEGY
Saving up gold is a very hard thing for some players to do, as there's usually many things you need to pay for in mabinogi (including repairs, weapons, armor, upgrades, etc)

EASY STRATEGY
The easiest way to save gold is to make limitations to your spending. For example, I may limit myself to staying above 100 million gold in my bank account. That way, I can work towards keeping my gold at a steady area, and make better choices in buying items, repairs, etc. It also helps tell me when I need to look into making more gold!

ALTERNATIVE STRATEGY
Another efficient way to do so is by keeping a "Savings" calculated. For instance, one player could say, "1/4 of my earnings can be my savings, and I have earned 6 million gold so far... now... 1.5 million would go to savings". It is best to keep records of how much is in your savings, and how much is in your spendings in a file somewhere, that wont be lost, just so you can keep the money steady.
Conclusion
WRAPPING THINGS UP
I hope this guide has helped you in some way! I took most of these things from huge mabinogi sources, and some images from other sources as well. Credits will be in the last section.

Good luck making and saving in Mabinogi.! It is a truly difficult task, haha.! :)

@Ryuuzaki_Tabari Good idea! I haven't updated the guide in a while, so I'll probably add newer methods (such as the Veteran Dungeons) to the list of ways to make gold/things to farm for. Thanks for the suggestion! <3
Tabari 5 May, 2020 @ 5:06pm
@GoldTiger You could also include Veteran Dungeons
Crow 21 Jan, 2020 @ 3:16pm
A decent way of getting gold (after beating G1, also a teleportation imp pet/festia fez/tia also works) is spamming Albey Red Gem and collecting fomor scrolls from there (skeles and mimics give a lot, but i pick up just about any kind)
Incredibly mind numbing but it's reliable
ᶜ8ᴱ 🎱 ๖ۜKarma 9 Jan, 2020 @ 11:59pm
also i think its funny that people claim luck has nothing to do with making gold when thats clearly false as a new character i make can hardly if ever get over 10k on a lucky drop but the higher my luck the more gold i get from lucky finishes
ᶜ8ᴱ 🎱 ๖ۜKarma 9 Jan, 2020 @ 11:57pm
:) anything to keep this guide accurate! SO helpful to just throw it up and check it when I don't know what to do on mabi :3
GoldTiger  [author] 9 Jan, 2020 @ 3:26pm
@Hinata Thanks for pointing that out! I'll go ahead and update that.

In the increasing LUCK stat section you forgot to include the Chain Slash skills as they also increase your luck :)

Updated 01/08/20, so that this guide includes modern methods of making gold. Also updated some parts of sections that do not apply anymore (i.e. personal shop caps), and made some sections look more visually appealing with images.
Phaseus 6 Jan, 2020 @ 8:42pm
@fuzzybear22 Luck affects Lucky Finish chances, which can give you up to x20 the gold drops for a Huge Lucky Finish.
Garythesnail 8 Dec, 2019 @ 9:31pm
i don't think luck affects gold drops and spamming shadow missions with crystals, raids and spamming alby advanced hard mode are probably the best options.
