Before we begin
The biggest help is always grabbing the XP bags, so be sure to pick up as many as you can throughout. This guide here will help you with that.

Oukoku
There aren't many options in the early game besides fighting overworld enemies. They're pretty easy and give okay XP, always go for hornets as the group there gives the most XP out of the 3. Going in and out of areas also works, but is pretty slow. Both are pretty slow, really. Your best bet is to get the bags around the map, that'll get you pretty well off pretty fast.

When you fight the Blue Wombat, the enemies they spawn give XP infinitely. It doesn't work if you've already killed them, though...

Yajuu Mountains
Playing through normally should get you pretty high level. There are a few XP bags, so you can get those. Otherwise, there aren't many enemies here, only bosses.
Mahou Island
(Credit to Flooty133 for this one. It's pretty obvious, but they commented before I added it, so...)

Troll Bridge. Enough said, really. Just go there, kill all 4 spiders (and the troll if you haven't already) and come back. It's best to go through on the right side (the side with the koi pond) because the spiders will spawn instantly instead of 'ambushing' you and usually leading to damage being taken.

If you're at the very end of the game and you're having trouble, there is a way to XP farm. It's much easier if you brought 3 glow flies from the beginning, but if you didn't, death has no penalty (Unless you're going for the insanity achievement).
It works on both paths, though the beast master is much easier. Basically you can go fight the third and last set of enemies before General Tso/Monnichino and refill your health/magic by going to the firefly room or dying.

i found a better way if you play beast master and get the glow fly area at the end you can keep going back and forth between the last level with enemies before the boss there are three enemies that give you 70xp each so just kill the two knights with the dragon easily and also the blue flying thing this is far more efficient since you can do this three times before refreshing mana at the glow fly lord.

There is a Mahou way to XP farm. First, get the lightning spell then go to the troll bridge (assuming you beat the troll already) and use it on the spiders that pop out of nowhere and then rush to Sydney's house and tell her a joke. She will give you a magic potion and then rush to the troll bridge again and do the same thing over and over again. Did that help?

I seriously found xp farming twice. of course you can go around the main land and kill monsters but you can 1-shot them and they do like 1 damage to you after a while.
