How to get behind EVERY enemy ship
By Voelkar
So you want to know how to succesfully get behind an enemy because you are tired of the endless loopings with him?
Now here is what to do!

What you should allready know:
- How to properly use the default keys for your ship
-> Including: Flying forwards/backwards; strafe to the left/right; fly down/up
- How the radar works

It should work with the following ship types:

- Sidewinder
- Eagle
- Viper
- Adder
- Hauler

So basically the cheap and small ones. But hey don't blame me! I just try to make the game more balanced.

The Situation
Ok, here is the situation (Just an example):
You have just found a nice bounty in FSD (Frame Shift Drive) and you try to interdict him with your FSD Interdictor. You somehow managed to not loose him and both of you start to tangle around in the void. But now your enemy managed to controll his ship and he is right behind you. Now what can you do?
There are actually two ways: Get behind him without being shot (but it takes a few seconds longer) or, if you can afford some shield damage, the fast way. You should use the last one if it is a weak enemy.
The "Long" Way
This is the tricky part: You have to know if the ship is above, below and in front of you or behind you.
But first things first:

- Try to make your ship up to the speed from the blue bar on your radar
- If your enemy is ABOVE+BEHIND your ship: Immediately push the default "F"-Key to strafe your ship down
- If your enemy is ABOVE+IN FRONT of your ship: Immediately push the default "R"-Key to strafe your ship down
- If your enemy is BELOW+BEHIND your ship: Immediately push the default "R"-Key to strafe your ship down
- If your enemy is BELOW +IN FRONT of your ship: Immediately push the default "F"-Key to strafe your ship down
- And always turn the nose from your ship to the enemy
- After 3-5 seconds you should see him and thats your chance to take him down
The "Short" Way
- Right after entering the normal flying mode fly backwards with full speed
- Turn the nose from your ship to the enemy
- After 2-3 seconds you should see him and thats your chance to take him down

So that should be it. I hope I was able to help some new players.
And as always: Fly safe commander!

@Dome, okay, I think I get it now. I thought when you said press _ to strafe your ship down, I was thinking you meant to move your ship in the downward direction relative to your seat in the cockpit, so I couldn't understand why you said F sometimes and R at others, both to go in the same direction. But now I see you were saying in relation to the other ship. I'll give it a shot.

@telcon It depends on where your enemy ship is. If you try it you will understand ;) Also DO NOT forget that you have to push your ships speed to the blue bar. Trust me, just try it. Make a note or something like that so you wont forget :)

@Dome, first off, thanks for the guide! I'm not trying to confuse, but maybe I'm missing something. But reading the "Long" way section, for each of the four situations you say "...to strafe your ship down", but on two of those you say use F and on two you say use R. So, is the solution for all four situations to strafe down?

If your enemy is ABOVE+BEHIND your ship: Immediately push the default "F"-Key to strafe your ship down
- If your enemy is ABOVE+IN FRONT of your ship: Immediately push the default "R"-Key to strafe your ship down
- If your enemy is BELOW+BEHIND your ship: Immediately push the default "R"-Key to strafe your ship down
- If your enemy is BELOW +IN FRONT of your ship: Immediately push the default "F"-Key to strafe your ship down

@genesis87_1, you are not flying in a sphere. Relative to your cockpit & sensors, you can give directions, so stop trying to be a smartass and insult yourself even more.

@telcoken Oh yeah whoops didnt read that one after checking. Thanks for letting me know!!

@genesis87_1 If you are talking like this, than nowhere is "up" or "down". "Up" in the US is "Down" in china.
Its obvious that I am talking from the pilots view...

first of all you should learn people that there is no "up, down, left, right, etc." in space. You can move on all axis freely and you should! Forget the notion of an "horizon view" and then learn how to fly your ship.

So, I'm guessing you meant to say the R key to strafe your ship UP? (you said stafe down each time below. Not trying to be a grammar police, but just trying to understand.

You don't have to use the engine kill for this maneuver
