The Problem

So you're working on a new project and need a specific particle.
You fire up the Particle Editor Tool, open your particle and for now everything is fine. But the trouble starts right now, the damn freaking window is far too small, not even covering HALF of the screen. Frustrating and annoying but well, what else...

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!

Just resize it! Not working? Well here, I'll show you!

The Solution
As simple and fast as it is you first have to even think about that. So, here's what to do:

  • Quit out of the Paticle Editor (if opened)
  • In the Main SFM Window press "F11", the game window will come up.

  • Now inside Team Fortress 2 press "ESC" to bring up the Pause Menu.
  • Click on "Options"

  • Go to the "Video" tab

  • Change your resolution to the next lower size of your screen

  • Click "OK" or "Apply"

  • Voila!

BOOM!
Now fire up the Particle Editor again and FINALLY you're able to use most of the unused space before!

Beware that you have to do this all the time when closing and opening Source Filmmaker again since it's not saving the resolution (sadly).
Final Words
Well Valve, if you're reading this (which you won't anyways) please let TF2 decide the internal resolution once you fire SFM up. Or at least save the changed resolution afterwards, it's not that annoying but still a step that could be taken away.

Anyways, hope you guys enjoyed this tiny quick guide!

completely useless, the interface itself still remains incredibly small and does not scale due to the size of the game window

Could specifying -w X and -h X in the launch options do anything bad to Source FilmMaker, and will it do anything good about the blank space and such? (In your example, -w 1768 -h 992.) If no and yes, you may wanna add that to the guide, since it's semi-permanent.
