Descrizione
Updated 2018 with proper infrastructure quality. Images 2 and 3 are from 2018. The rest are original

Original description:
Handmade terrain based on Tolkien's maps
- Hand painted terrain (using farm resource) - makes it look like a bright sunny morning. NOTE: if you plant lots of trees around the painted area, the painted colour will disappear because the resource changes from farm to forestry.
- Ugly Industrial resources (oil and ore) neatly hidden behind mountain ridge - hides mess from most any view!
- Lots of sweet little brooks, streams, little cascades which merge into very powerful rivers
- Playable area is even a little more than game's original maps
- Hydro Dam capable with zero chance of flood (see help image for this specific flood-proof location). Second location is possible (where shipping line begins)
- Pre.planted tree borders for your country roads (of course, you don't have to stick to my ideas, but they are placed in the best places for a road to wind among the little hills. This also saves you a whole lot of clicking trees)
- Tolkienesque mountain peaks in background
- Attention to the tiniest of details, for example the forests have a great variety of trees planted in one area for more realism and attractive colors, and conifers at higher elevations progressing to mixed and then broadleaf forest at lower elevation

See the help/functions map, which will help you plan out your city and let you know what features I built in, many of which you cannot see as a player. Everything is carefully planned, however if you have any problem, find an error, or just have a question, please do let me know and I will be glad to help

Update 1:
- Shipping connection easier to reach for players of 9 square base game

Update 2:
- Noticed I did not restore the three bridges near Grey Haven when I did the shipping connection improvement. Fixed and uploaded. This will not be a problem at all if you purchase that square. The three bridges are within the playable area, but in any event I like everything to be fully functional.
- I thought there was an error with the map because ships were not showing up. Nope, no error. Turns out that unlike before, now ships do not show up in any waters until there is a demand for them. Thought it was me
- Update 3
- Improved design of hydro dam area and raised so that dam power is now up to 1600mw

I can't find the shipping connection.

This map is really nice, just a few corrections. The Grey Havens are west of the Shire, and the Blue Mountains are North of that. Also, the Brandywine bridge is at the north end of the Marish. Apart from that is map is perfect and I love playing on it.

Thanks! When I made the map, it was before 81 tiles by BloodyPenguin came out, and looks like I forgot to do something in this update of the map lol, so I'm really glad you you were inspired to make it the way you want it to be! :steamhappy:

Three year now that I play on this map, back and forth, still one of my favorite. The scenery is great, forests are lovely! Thank you MrMiyagi for all you do for the CS community.
(okay, one hickup on this map; in the Blue Mountain, the ore stopping at the 25 square kind of ruin the "scenery". Not a big deal, I painted the rest myself) :-)

I found them, was thinking they would be in the normal road lists lol. Going to try another test on this map also among making use other surface painter mod to modify some of my own farm land.
Always get carried away in the beginning overdoing my starter layout and budget haha.

Hiya, yeah the Farm Roads are made with Network Extension's national road, which is a two lane highway. This connects villages far apart really, really well, allowing you to have a Shiresque pastoral setup. I forget but maybe there are regular dirt road farm roads, too. They are found under intersections and you just rotate them to change their direction, they have lines of trees on both sides so you don't have to click until you're 99 years old

I also grabbed the farm road options that I believe you made, not sure how to use them tho(I've been away from the game for a LONG time).

I may try it with all tiles unlocked but still start in the initial tile since I always go overboard on road setups. I'm used to using the non euro themed maps so adjusting to the buildings will be different heh. Just gotta play around with some stuff I guess to relearn everything.

It may not be a perfect rendition of the Shire, but I think the map itself looks like a great one none the less :) Good work.

Hiyaa Niteshade! I had forgotten about this map. Please pardon my awful roads in this, it's one of my first :D You can decide for yourself, but I would lean towards unlocking tiles and being free to design. Another reason for that might be because the tile with the shipping connections is in the far, far corner.
I've thought about doing a series of maps directly from Tolkien's map itself. This one isn't exactly the same, so being a Tolkien fan I'm not fully satisfied with this :)

Was looking around for some maps outside of the vanilla ones for when I came back to play again and felt this seemed like a perfect map for using alot of agriculture and non generic industry. Plus.. i LOVE Tolkien, map looks wonderful and plan to use it on one of my new test cities. Just not sure if I want to use this one with all tiles unlocked or start unlocking them normally lol.
