Charon Class Light Cruiser

While the Charon is less heavily armored than most cruisers, it makes up for the lack of armor with agility and speed. This agility and speed allows the vessel to more easily maintain distance between itself and enemy ships. The primary weapon system mounted on the Charon, the Vel Cannon, is perfectly suited to take advantage of this distance. With its select fire functions, one can send a steady stream of powerful projectiles down range or let loose a massive and devastating barrage in one great burst. When this burst mode is activated, the Vel cannon is capable of tearing through many ships, from stem to stern, in a single volley.
