Introduction
Some words in advance.
I actually only wanted to film a little collectible guide for those who were desperately seeking the last one or two hearts, but decided to write a roadmap and an achievement guide additionally. Although the latter fell rather short, I think in conjunction with the videos you will find everything you need to get a 100% in this game. Feedback is welcome, so write something if you want. This is my first guide though.

Welcome to my 100%-Guide for "The Waste Land" !

If you haven't played the game yet and just want a little heads-up about what's awaiting you, be advised that no achievement is missable in this game. So after you have beaten the game you can start right at your last savepoint and explore the whole world again. The majority of your achievements are linked to the two collectible groups: hearts, which increase your life, and weapons, which give you certain battle advantages. The good thing is that the game keeps track of which item you found and you can access these lists through the game menu. There is also no achievement related to the difficulties, so you can start with the easiest and just enjoy exploring the game. All in all, completing this game will take you between 10 and 15 hours.

Roadmap
(SPOILERS AHEAD)

To get 100% you have to beat the final boss twice and collect all hearts and weapons.

Step 1. Just play through the game. After you beat the first Mini-Boss you are free to go where ever you want. Your goal nevertheless is beating the other three Mini-Bosses in their respective domains and find the two most powerful weapons in the game: the Curse Arrows and the Magic Sword. After you completed these tasks you can battle the final boss.
At the end of this step you will have the following achievements:

  • The Beginning
  • What have you done?
  • The first one lurks in the woods
  • The Leviathan
  • Wake up to the snow terror
  • With the sound of 1000 wings
  • The final confrontation
  • Winged feet
  • Ol' trusted blade
  • A curse
  • A weapon to end it all
  • and either A choice of trust or A choice of courage

Step 2. You will probably already have some of the remaining weapons- and hearts-achievements, as the Mini-Bosses can be a bit annoying when you face them badly equipped. Nevertheless, now is the time to unlock them all and beat the final boss again, this time choosing the other ending. For the collectibles please refer to my two videos or, if you just want a hint for where to look, you can use my maps at the bottom of this guide.
You now have all collectible-related achievements:

  • Warblade
  • Finest steel on earth
  • An incredible blade
  • Bow & arrows
  • Purifying flame
  • Fire in the hole
  • Lord of thunder
  • Heart seeker
  • Heart explorer
  • Heart veteran
  • Heart master
  • There must be an enter
  • Hidden crypt
  • Master of collectibles
  • and either A choice of trust or A choice of courage

Step 3. The only things left are two quest-achievements although you will most likely have them, because they are connected to certain heart locations. But as you can get those hearts without unlocking them, I mention them separately. Additionally you'll have to enter the credits-level through the Main Menu to receive your final achievement.
Congratulations to your 100% completion!

Achievement Guide
Story Progression Achievements

The Beginning
Start a new adventure

Start a new game, that's all. Okay i don't remember if you get this when you start with the tutorial in the beginng or when the game actually starts.

What have you done?
Follow your fate

You begin your tale on a hunt. Just follow the path in the beginning of the game and kill that funny looking unicorn-moose thingy. Don't forget to bring your sword with you.

The first one lurks in the woods
Defeat the first boss

He is located in the South-East corner of Kinstaria. He is best fought from behind with your Bow. Shoot at his eyes.

The Leviathan
Defeat a sea dwelling boss

You meet this one when you travel per ship from Kona (in Yunnia) to Kono Island. Wait on the central boat for him to emerge. Shoot or slash his eyes with your best weapon. When he attacks with his tail, jump to one of the other boats. Then jump back to the central boat and repeat this until he's dead.

Wake up the snow terror
Defeat a snow living boss

He waits for you in Brinnar, the northern realm. You have to use the bridge from Kaissa to get to him. Shoot at his 2 eyes until his "third eye" appears then shoot at it. Repeat until he's dead.

With the sound of 1000 wings
Defeat a flying boss

You find her on your way to the tower in the east of Shymok. Don't go there with a potent weapon. This can be a long fight, as it is hard to hit her. Try to avoid the projectiles and ready your weapon for a doublejump-hit, when she flies by.

The final confrontation
Defeat the last boss

You need the Curse Arrows and the Magic Sword to fight him properly. Stay away from him at all cost, so that he is off the screen. Hit him with a fully charged Curse Arrow first, then jump to him and strike him 3-4 times with the magic sword. Then back off and repeat. When he has tracked you down to one of the corners, use that stuck-out brick to double-jump behind him. Let him follow you again in the other direction, while repeating your attack pattern. As soon as he starts conjuring the beams, be advised that you can break his 5-beam cast-chain when you try to attack him or walk near him, but in most cases it is better to just avoid them till he is done with the casting.

A choice of courage
Finish the game with an act of courage

After you have beaten the final boss you have to decide if you trust your mentor or not. You get this when you enter through the right door. This is the goodending.

A choice of trust
Finish the game with an act of trust

After you have beaten the final boss you have to decide if you trust your mentor or not. You get this when you enter through the left door. This is the bad ending.

Miscellaneous achievements

Cheating on you
Strange things may happen..

After you have beaten the Bee-Queen, you have access to the mysterious tower in east Shymok desert. In front of the tower awaits you a hermit in a tent. He will give you a magic mushroom, which let's you see the strange inhabitants of the tower. Work your way to the top of the tower, before the effect of the mushrooms wears off and speak with the person on the sofa. There is also a heart located.

Hidden crypt
There's an hidden crypt full of secrets

Go to the Sanard monastery in the Harvan district. Locate the church tower (it's the house with a savepoint in it) and look closely to the right of the save-point. There is a barely visible door, the entrance to the crypt, go through it and unlock this achievement. You may have to talk with the abbot in the library first, and do a little book-finding quest for him. He then permits you to enter the crypt, but I could go there anyway.

The truth about this town
Talk, understand, think

Travel to Syrus in Brinna. Locate Lady Hernas House (the one with the garden in it). She will task you to find the towns priest. He is located in a tower on top of the city. When you enter his hideout, this achievement unlocks.

There must be an enter
Ancient monuments sometimes have an hidden entrance

In the Shymock pyramid, the only pyramid in the game, look closely at the ground in the entrance hall. There are some cracked floor tiles, break those and jump down. The achievement is yours.

Thank you for playing
