Things thats good to know before getting in lane.
Farming is a really important thing in Sins of a Dark Age. This is the core gold income in the game, besides the passive gold / sec, and shared gold, and the passive gold / sec items if you buy.
But taking the last hit on a wave minion soldier/creep grants you a Gold Reward.

Each minion type has different Bounty rewards:
  • Melee Minion: 25 Gold
  • Ranged Minion: 18 Gold
  • Siege Catapult: 39 Gold
  • Night Scout 30 Gold Note that they only spawn at Night time!
These are the starting Gold Bounties, they scale with time. So by the time goes they will give more and more gold later.

Important to know!
  • There are always 6 minions spawning in one lane, 3 melee 3 ranged.
  • First wave comes at 1:00, second wave at 1:30. The third wave comes at 2:00 but one of the Ranged Soldier ( the middle one ) is replaced with one Siege Catapult. Try no to miss the last hit on that one, it gives the most gold in lane! Also noticable that the waves spawns every 30 seconds.
  • The wave arrives to Mid lane at 1:25, To Top/Bot lane at 1:35. Try to get to your lane at this time maximum! :)
  • First nighitfall comes at 6:00 This is also when the first Quest starts! Nighttime lasts 8 minutes, after that a 8 minutes of daytime will follow. And the circle goes on! :)
  • With the night, there will be one more Wave Soldier, the Night Scout. They gives the second most gold in lane! It's not hard to kill them, they have very low health. They will come with every wave. Also granting larger vision with their lantern. Killing them will reduce the vision range of the area for the enemy.
  • The Tower Sieges has different Bounty value, depends where they are.
    • Outer Tower 60 Gold
    • Inner Tower 90 Gold
    • Base Tower 120 Gold
    • Keep Tower 45 gold

Lets count
Normal spawn daytime:
3 Melee is 75 Gold
3 Ranged is 54 Gold
Thats 129 Gold / wave
Siege spawn daytime:
3 Melee 75 Gold
2 Ranged 36 Gold
1 Catapult 39 Gold
Thats 150 Gold
Normal spawn nighttime is 159 Gold
Siege spawn nighttime is 180 Gold

These extra coppers are really needed to be powerful in the game. The merchants gonna milk us for these high end weapons.
Minion Aggro/Targeting
Lets talk about minion aggro first.
When you hit an enemy with basic attack ( auto attack, right clicking ) while the opponent's minion wave is near, the whole wave will target you. Which can be dangerous.. Especially when there are more enemy minions, than yours. Early game minions can hurt a lot. So you need to think about if its worth to try to trade ( trade means when you and/or your opponent will recive x amount of damage from heroes or from the minion wave, and who comes out with more HP from the situation is the winner of the damage dealing trade ) with your opponent in these situations.

But there are some ways to avoid getting hit by the minion wave:
  • First of, you need to play around with these minions and peeling the enemy. To learn whats their range, how long they will follow you, and how much they will hurt if they hit you.. But now we are aiming to not getting hit by them, or atleast not all of them.
  • The Ranged Minions have the best chance to hit you, obviously since their attacks are ranged. So what we need to do? Get rid off of the Ranged Minions first! After you killed the Ranged Minions you can either trade with your opponent, or just simply poke them with auto attacks or spells. If you poke with auto attacks, take a few hits ( at this moment the remaining melee minions will run to you like fools ), and walk away to keep distance from minions until they calm down. Then repeate the peeling. In the meantime don't forget to watch the minion's HP, if you find any low, just kill it, don't miss it!
  • The other way is a bit harder. You don't kill any minions, just peel the enemy hero and walk away, peel -> walk away and repeat this many times. To do this you need to know the range of the Ranged Minions, to make sure none or atleast not all of them gonna hit you.
  • The second one is better, because this way you won't push out your lane as much as with the first option. Pushing out your lane can be a bad decision sometimes, but will talk about this later.
To Push or Not to Push?
This question depends on so many things, and the situation can change anytime. Even by an accident.
Lets analyse what can happen either way.

Pushing

If we are pushing the lane, what we are risking?
  • We can get ganked easily, especially if we don't ward. All 3 lanes can be ganked from many paths. But if we push, we open more path possibilities to the jungler or the roamer ( the person who leaves the lane to help other lanes quickly ). Which means you need vision control. A ward costs 85 Gold, but it lasts for 4 minutes, which means 8 waves which is more than 1k gold.. So, don't be shy, if you want to push, buy some wards. Unless you want to use Sentry Glyph or the Scrying Mirror item. But the item can't fit for every hero.
  • Also when you push your laneits harder to fight or trade with your enemy, because most likely your lane will be pushed under his tower.
Positive things that can happen when you push.
Easy coppers, you may farm easier if you push. Depends on you.
You can roam, gank/help other lanes. You maybe get some extra gold that way.
You maybe able to farm jungle for some extra gold after pushing out your lane. Coordinate with your jungler ( if you have any ). Or you can steal the enemy jungler's jungle :) But thats also risky, you have to put a deep ward ( put a ward in enemy jungle, but deeper. Just careful, don't get caught ) maybe to be safe. So, don't coordinate with the enemy jungler's, heh.
Positive thing can be also that, if you push your lane under the enemy's tower, he maybe fails to farm. He gets exp, but less gold by failing last hits.

Not Pushing

What happens when we are not pushing, but the enemy does:
This is the time when you need to consider buying Detection Ward, so you offer a free path for your jungler to gank. Or your jungler can buy one too, to make him/her self the most comfortable pathway. If you think your enemy didn't use any ward, just ask your jungler for help, or any other teammate who is able to help. A free gold is always good :)
And you can challenge your opponent for some trades if he pushed you under tower. If he hits back he gets more damage from tower, just keep him in tower range, or close. Hug that tower :)

What happens when neither you are pushing nor your enemy?
Wintertime.
  • Long and boring laning when either both of you are at the same skill level ~~ Or both of you just want to farm safely.
  • Still able to get ganked, but less pathways. Still would consider buying 1-2 wards to be more safe. Try to ask for help from teammates if you want
How to Farm Under Tower
Its not hard, you only need to know a few things for early levels.
  • Melee Units needs to take 2 Tower hit, then you can last hit them easily. Later by the time goes on, their health increases aswell, so do the defences. You will need 2 hits to get the last hit. This will happen around ~pre-midgame phase. Depends how well did you farm, did you get any kills. So if you have earned good money and got more damage, you won't really have much problem with this. This also applies for every other Minion Units.
Also when the melee minion arrives under tower with more than 50% health, but less then 100%, try to hit them ( as many times its needed ) to get around 55-60% health ( depends if your minions attacking it already or not ). Then let the tower hit them once, and you can last hit them.
  • Ranged Units needs to take 1 hit from Tower, then you need to hit him twice to last hit them. So the best is if you don't have attack speed increased, to hit them once before the tower hits them. Then let the tower hit the ranged unit, and you can last hit them.
  • For Siege Catapult, it needs many shots, never counted it ( will do it somewhen ). But it needs a few shots before you can hit it.
  • Night Scouts, they maybe need 1 tower hit plus 2-3 from you ( will test this later with both a mage and an adc ).
My Tower is Down, Help!
This can happen for several reasons, don't get dragged down its not always your fault!
But you can still improve and comeback to the game!
If you are losing your lane, and your tower(s) getting destroyed because your enemy doesn't stop pushing and harassing you.

There are many things you can do
  • Ask for help from teammates. The jungler should help you ( or should have already atleast tried it ).
  • If your other teammates doing well in lane, then they should be able to help you out. Buy teleport scrolls, or use the teleport Glyph.
  • A really good thing you can do is, freeze your lane. Which means you don't push back the lane. only last hits. The enemy will most likely be away in other lanes or farm jungle. If you want to push farther than your destroyed tower, you need to place wards! But i don't recommend to push it back. Anyhow, slowly your lane will still get pushed back, but then stop, don't overextend! Go and farm your own jungle. The little camps.
  • Another good alternative is lane swapping early game. It maybe helps you or both of you. But sometimes it can get even worse too. You need to carefully consider your enemy's abilities, and your new opposite on your new lane. Check their items, levels, if they are ahead of you or not. So you won't overextend. Think of counter builds.

What happens when you take down the enemy's tower too early?
  • Keep pushing the lane, then leave and farm your, and enemy's jungle. Or roam and help other lanes. You can also pick Teleport Glyph, in this case it would help you a lot. Getting back to lane, or help others. But most important, don't forget to use ward.
  • If you destroyed the tower because you are owning your opponent, don't push, Stall it. Don't let him farm, whats more don't let him get near your wave to get experience, so he will level slower. But again, don't forget to get wards, else you leave open the possibility to comeback for your opponent by getting ganked.
Thank you!

You really shouldn't post guides if you don't want to put the effort it. What use is it to say that for last-hitting catapults we need to let the tower take "a few shots"? Either do it properly or don't do it at all imo. I won't rate because of that.

Yeah thanks for correcting @arakiel, this happens when you write a guide after being up for 24+ hours :D
And added the extra info for melee soldiers too. Forgot to add that aswell.

Thanks @HyperOver ! :)

Good job!

For many champions the ranged soldier enemies require two hits under tower. So hit them once, then let tower hit them, then hit them again to get the gold.

For melee soldiers, if they are damaged before walking into tower range, try to get their health down to just above 50% so you can last hit them after just one tower hit.
