Thanks for the extra info! (also, the MAP, really? Nothing escapes those nimble fingers...)

Nice! Although this is unlikely to come up, you can also pickpocket the map from Aurvandel, the letter from Lithrasir, and rations from Snorri if you don't beg those from him the first day.
