Introduction
This guide will show you how to install a map that you have downloaded, for purposes of example, I will use the map "Bunker 149", I do not own, or have any ownership rights to Bunker 149 and credit goes to those of whom created the map.
I got the map! now what?
Most maps, including bunker 149, are compressed and needs to be decompressed, if you have a program to decompress the file, chances are you know how to use it. For those that don't have such a program, you can use Windows and i'll show you how to use it.

1) Double-click the "bunker_149.zip" file
2) Click on the button "Extract all files"
3) Browse to the folder that the extracted files are in.

The readme.txt file (by saoreire) provides a lot of useful information and background for the map, but was written some time ago and the instructions, although good, work perfectly for retail (DVD) copies of the game. The steam install is different. Lets get this map installed.

4) Select all the files (including the folder "Screenshots"
5) Right-click on the files and select copy (or you can press ctrl+c)

Now you need to navigate to the steam install of Dark Crusade, by default this is:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dawn of War Dark Crusade\DXP2\Data

* IMPORTANT * - Program Files (x86) is only a folder on your computer IF and only IF you have a 64bit operating system and a 32bit program installed (Dark Crusade is 32bit) Most computers at the time of writing (May 2015) are 64bit, but older computers still running a 32bit operating system do not have the (x86) after Program Files, so the default location on the older systems would be:

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Dawn of War Dark Crusade\DXP2\Data

This difference does not change the gameplay or the map in any way, but is still important to recognise. Once you have browsed to the location above you need to make two folders:

6) Click on the button "New folder"
7) Name the folder, Scenarios
8) Double-click on the newly made folder "Scenarios"
9) Inside "Scenarios", Click on the button "New folder"
10) Name the folder, mp
11) Double-click on the newly made folder "mp"

At this point, you should be in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dawn of War Dark Crusade\DXP2\Data\Scenarios\mp" for 64bit operating systems

12) Right-click and select paste (or alternatively, press ctrl+v)

* IMPORTANT * DO NOT place the pasted files in "mp" into another folder like "Bunker 149" or "Downloaded maps", doing so makes your game different from everyone elses, and although in multiplayer, you'll be able to join a game, see the map in the corner and start the game, the moment you are about to be "in-game", you will drop from the game, or if you are host, everyone else will drop. This is annoying for everyone involved and more so than your OCD "But I have to have everything neat, organised and in their own folder"

Enjoy.

See you on the battlefield.
Cool maps and where to get them.
I do not own any of these maps, nor create them, nor claiming any credit to them in any way, but below is a list of some of the maps I have come across and enjoyed.

Winter assault is worthy for the imperial guard, and soulstorm does actually give you 2 races, The sisters and the dark eldar, each pack also consists of a new campaign and a bunch of maps for skirmish and online play. I personally would recommend buying the whole set, but wait until Steam has a sale, they often go 75% off and you can buy the whole DoW 1 franchise for just $7.50

From someone whom hasn't tried Soulstorm and only has played the First & Dark Crusade versions of this game, would you personaly suggest Soulstorm - from what I've seen all it offers is an extra race (and there are plenty of those out there as mods.)

yeah I just tried soulstorm it's good but of course people still play this. One of the best RTS games there is

indeed so, but most appear to have drifted towards soulstorm since most of the bugs have been patched, however, my guide can still be used, just point towards the soulstorm equivalent folder.
