Hide your Hand/Glove and other HUD and overlay elements.
A Story About My Uncle is a gorgeous game, but requires a few little tweaks to bring the looks up to their best. For both screenshots and general gameplay, here are a few quick things you can do.

Hide the HUD elements

If your hand and crosshair are obscuring things in game, or you just want to hide them you can do so by changing a few quick settings.

  • First, browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\A Story About My Uncle\ASAMU\Config - There are an absolute ton of customizable options in these files, everything from Dynamic Lighting and Shadows to movement speeds and more. For this guide we're just interested in one:
  • Open DefaultInput.ini
  • Add these lines somewhere within the [Engine.PlayerInput] section
    Bindings=(Name="Escape",Command="CloseEditorViewport | onrelease ShowMenu") Bindings=(Name="F1",Command="ToggleScreenShotMode") Bindings=(Name="F2",Command="TiledShot 4") Bindings=(Name="F7",Command="GBA_QuickLoad")
  • Note: F7 may already be bound, if so you can leave it alone. And you can, of course, change these F-Key bindings to any key you want so long as it's not being used for some other binding.
  • Save and restart your game.

F1 will now hide your hand and other elements and allow for cleaner screenshots. F2 will create an extremely large resolution (10240x5760) bitmap image saved to C:\Users\****\Documents\My Games\A Story About My Uncle\ASAMU\Screenshots\Win32 which is much higher quality than your Steam overlay will produce, but also much larger filesize (150mb+) so be careful.

Bonus Tip: If you search for the 'ConsoleKey' binding (typically set to None by default) and map it to 'Tilde', you can bring up all the standard Unreal Engine Console options in-game. Using 'Fly' will help you get a great position to take great screenshots.

How could I make the resolution it is changing to? Like say I wanted to make it 4k instead of 150 mb

I figured out a better, easier solution. All you have to do is open ASAMUInput.ini in \Documents\my games\A Story About My Uncle\ASAMU\Config and find:
-----
[Engine.Console]
ConsoleKey=none
-----
and change none to Tilde

In game open the console with tilde button and write togglescreenshotmode. Write it again to disable it.
