A text based walkthrough of Wadjet Eye Games "The Blackwell Legacy". This is the first game in a five game series. The game is not overly difficult and I feel that pictures or even videos are unnecessary for this walkthrough. This guide clearly highlights the steps needed to complete the game and can also be used as a quick reference guide if you find yourself stuck at any point in the game. It should be noted that this is one solution and not any form of 'optimal' solution. I have tried to be as clear as possible, do not hesitate to ask if any of the instructions are unclear or if you face any problems in game!

Introduction


The Blackwell Legacy is the first case in a miniseries of games that stars a medium named Rosangela Blackwell and her spirit guide Joey Mallone. Their mission, it seems, is to assist tormented spirits and investigate supernatural goings on. They don't understand why they are thrown together, but they do the best they can. The duo's first case will involve a series of suicides at a local university. Something unnatural has forced these students to kill themselves, and nobody knows why. Rosangela, who is just coming to terms with her new status as a medium, finds herself cast as the unwilling detective in this gruesome mystery. [Wadjet Eye Games]
Day One
Some events do not trigger if you have not had specific conversations with certain characters. If the walkthrough says "exhaust all dialogue" this means you should speak to that character until there is nothing left to say!

Rosa Blackwell's Apartment

After the introduction has finished, walk to the front door of the building and speak to Jim Burdo. He will not let you in, no matter what you say to him. Exhaust all dialogue options and he will say that he will let you in if your next door neighbour can identify you as a member of the building. Exit through the left side of the screen and select Washington Square Park.

Washington Square Park

You will arrive at the park and will be in the dog field area. Walk left until you reach the fountain area. Your neighbour Nishanthi will be entertaining a crowd. Walk towards the lamppost and the dog will walk towards you. You must walk around the lamppost and the dog will become tangled in his own leash. His barks will cause your neighbour to walk over to you. Talk to her and you will both leave and return to your building.

Rosa Blackwell's Apartment

You are now allowed to enter your apartment. Wait in your apartment until the phone rings and pick it up. Dr. Quentin will be on the line. When the conversation ends, leave the apartment and knock on the door across from Rosa's apartment. Talk to Nishanthi about Washington Square Park and then leave via the elevator. Select the Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital as your next destination.

Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital

Walk towards the reception and speak to the security guard behind the desk. You can show him your letter from the doctor. Speak to Dr. Quentin about your aunt and your grandmother. After you have exhausted all dialogue options, leave the hospital and select your apartment.

Rosa Blackwell's Apartment

Pick up the envelope and read all 25 pages of letters. Look at the two photographs in your inventory as well. After putting the envelope away, the phone will ring. Pick up the phone and after the conversation you will be able to pick up your notebook from under your teddy bear. You can now head for the elevator again and choose to visit the Brittany Hall Dorm to begin your assignment.

Brittany Hall Dorm

Knock on the RA's door (Adrian) which is the door second on the left. Exhaust all dialogue options with him. Head for the fifth door on the left (JoAnn and Kelly). Exhaust all dialogue options with her, but try to be as honest as you can to obtain as much information as possible. Your notebook should now contain information from both characters. Keep the notebook open and click "JoAnn slept all night" and "Kelly sleeps elsewhere". This will combine these clues. If you do not have either of these clues, make sure to talk to Adrian again after your conversation with Kelly. You can now speak to Kelly again, confront her with your new information and she will provide you with a picture. You can now leave the dorm and return to your apartment.

Rosa Blackwell's Apartment

Select the computer in Rosa's apartment and write your article. Afterwards, look at the picture on the television. You can leave the apartment and visit Dr. Quentin at this point, but it is optional. You can also go across the hall and speak to Nishanthi to learn more about her. I recommend you do this as part of the story. You can even give her dog a treat.

You should be introduced to Joey who becomes a major character in the series. he will take you to the park. Be friendly with the ghost you are introduced to and try to charm the ghost to obtain as much information as you can. After this event, you will return to your apartment and Day One will end.




Day Two
Rosa Blackwell's Apartment

Talk to Joey about everything and definitely make sure you have asked him about his "ghostly powers". You can visit Nishanthi again and ask her about "sensing". You can leave the apartment and head for the Britanny Hall Dorm once again.

Brittany Hall Dorm

Visit Kelly and head inside her room. Talk to her and ask her about Deacon. Ask her about the girls in the picture you were given and she will give you names. You can now look at the bulletin board and see 3 photographs and the name Davenport. Ask Kelly about Davenport.

Ask Kelly if you can use her phone. While Rosa is holding the phone, click on Joey to begin a conversation with him. Ask him to distract Kelly. You can do this by asking for his performance, the same trick he showed you in your apartment. While she is distracted, take JoAnn's notebook. Look at the notebook and then combine the names "Alexander" and "Davenport". You can now combine the name "Alexander Davenport" and "Adrian". You can open your notebook and combine these names outside of the dorm room in the hall. Leave the dorm completely and head for Washington Square Park.

Washington Square Park

After returning to the dog walking area, get Joey to speak to the ghost about everything you can. Provide her with the names from your notebook and you will obtain the surnames of the two girls. You will have to obtain more information through research, so head back to Rosa's apartment after the conversation with the ghost.

Rosa Blackwell's Apartment

Use the computer and do some research on both "Alli" and "Susan". Look in your notebook and combine the "Deacon" and "Ouija boards". You will discover that Susan is in the hospital and Alexander Davenport was on the University hockey team. With all this new information, leave the apartment and head for the Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital.

Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital

Talk to the security guard and pretend to be Alex Davenport (a name you have in your notebook after combining "Alexander Davenport and "Adrian". You will gain access to Susan's room. Exhaust all dialogue options and make sure to talk to her about Ouija boards in particular to gain her trust. Leave Susan's room.

It is now night, simply return to Susan's room once again. She will mention her pills and should give you one. Return to Rosa's apartment, but visit Nishanthi.

Rosa Blackwell's Apartment

In Nishanthi's apartment, you should already have permission to give treats to the dog. Combine the pill from Susan with a dog biscuit in your inventory. Nishanthi can give you another dog biscuit if needed. You can now take the dog for a walk in Washington Square Park. You can now talk to the ghost and help them move on.

Now to the final location...

Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital

After arriving at the hosptial, walk to the security guard and wait for Joey to stand next to you. He will interfere with the radio, which in turn will distract the guard. While he is distracted, quickly take the fuse box key. Walk to the far left of the screen and open the fuse box on the wall. This next part can be frustrating if you are not quick enough, but keep trying. Flip the switch to turn off the lights and quickly click in the alcove next to the phone to hide from the guard. Wait until he has passed you and walk around the corner to Susan's room. If you click too early - he will see you, if you click too late - he will turn the lights on and see you. Try to get the timing right.

In Susan's room, the Deacon will appear. When you gain control once again on the other side, talk to both the Demon and the Deacon. Open your notebook and combine "Deacon's Sins" with "Deacon's flask". Ask the Deacon to drop the flask. Pick up the cobblestone and use it to break the flask. The Deacon can now leave.

Congratulations, you have completed the first part of the Blackwell series!

I've asked the ghost about everything again. On my second try she was much much friendlier and I got the note "Deacon". So maybe I started the conversation wrong on my first try? I'm not sure why I didn't get it.

I guess the other problem was, that I had not talked with Joey about his powers at home (so that he blows the curtain on the window). Once I did that, I was able to ask him to "repeat his trick from earlier" on the phone.

@BadKarMa - Try the following:

Go to the Dorm
Talk to Kelly about the girls in the photo
Ask her permission to look around
She will refuse, end the conversation
Look at the bulletin board, and click each photo to insepct
When Joey blows on the papers, click the notebook to take it while Kelly is distracted
Combine Alexander with Davenport as clues
Combine Davenport with Adrian.
You will have the clue Alex Davenport, then you can leave.

Go to Dog Run, talk to the ghost
Ask about Alli, Susan, JoAnn,
You will now know the name Deacon
Ask about Deacon.

On Day 2 you say I should ask Kelly about Deacon. I have no clue who Deacon is and cannot ask her about him.
Also when I asked Joey to distract her, he didn't do anything and now whenever I "phone" him, the conversation ends immediatly.

Playing on a Mac. Am unable to open the letter or the envelop. Can choose the item, but no keystroke or way to drag to access the contents :steamsad:... am stuck{/b]

Stopped playing this game because I was stuck on the very last part at the Hospital. Didn't realize I had given up SO close to beating the game. Thank you for this!

There is a missing part to the guide on Day 2:
You can talk to Joey about several things. The important
thing to talk about is researching the ghost girl. It turns
out that she is one of the girls in JoAnn's photograph. Two
of the girls in the photo are now dead? That can't be a
coincidence.

When you finish talking to Joey, you regain control of
Rosangela. Before leaving the apartment, you should talk to
Joey again. Many new conversation topics appear. It is
necessary to talk to Joey about himself, then ask about his
ghostly powers. He reveals that he can stir up a small
breeze, in addition to floating through walls.
