Some basic information for all stalkers
By Havnoname and 1 collaborators
This guide goes over some basic information that my friend and I discovered while we played the game before it was released on steam. Some portions may no longer be accurate and any new information you guys have could help improve this guide.

Artifacts
Artifacts are rare gems that are obtained by searching anomally fields, they can be sold for large portions of roubles or used for their effects.

Artifacts can be found in many locations in lubech forest. Some popular locations are around 38 and around K6 on the map.

They are obtained by using a MGD or MGDE to grab them from a distance. You can also run into the anomally to grab it quickly, but you will most likely die in the process, thus losing the artifact.

Artifacts are usually inside anomallies but there are places where they are outside an anomally so always check with the rock throw.

Artifacts:
veil - obtained from anomalys (common)
screen - obtained from anomalys (common)
pillow - obtained from anomalys (common)
stabliizer - obtained from anomalys (common)
rubber - obtained from anomalys (uncommon)
shield - obtained from anomalys (uncommon-rare)
antigrav - obtained from witchs,mages,spiderkahn
vesuvius - obtained from volcano in map3 once every 6 hours (rare)

Effects of artifacts
  • Shield: +1 to bullet defense,-1 to explosion
  • Screen: +1 to explosion, -1 to mob defense
  • Pillow: + 1 mob defense , -1 to bullet defense
  • Stabilizer: +1 to survive downfall, -1 to move speed
  • Rubber: + removes radiation, - bleeding (only Beta)
  • Antigrav: +1 to move speed, -1 to bullet defense
  • Heater: provides partial protection against freezing effect
  • Vesuvius: no effect
  • Guide: no effect

Alpha and Beta artifacts have same effect (except Rubber). You can have artifact in backpack or in artifact slots. You can unlock 3 artifact slots in total by achieving required level - combat 9, survival 8, support 7.

When you have artifact in backpack:
  • artifact can be dropped - high risk
  • duration of the effect is until artifact is depleted (several days)

When you have artifact in artifact slot:

  • zero risk to drop artifact
  • Vesuvius and Guide cannot be equipped
  • duration of the effect is 6h for Alphas and 12h for Betas
  • equipped artifacts grant double effect - e.g. double bullet protection
  • 20% that artifact will be destroyed when you will try to unequip it

Here is a pointless video of my friend and I gathering artifacts in Lubech Forest

Scavenging Caches
Spread around the world are loot caches. They are well hidden but can contain loot than can be used or sold to other players for rubles. They appear as a box with leaves covering the top.
-they also contain loot sometimes very useful for quests or selling at high cost item/gun components such as silencers for snipers.
Search around E8 for hidden stashes - D8 (odd D to the right of E8) in Lubech Forest.

-note from chamara - I HAVE A CACHE MAP BUT I CANNOT UPLOAD PICTURES AT THE MOMENT, WILL ADD LATER. (also fixed your spelling mistakes Rhexx)
This is a map of MOST of the caches on map 2. There are a few missing but overall its an amazing map.

Other semi-useful information
(also to be filled with more information by chamara (<-- you lazy ass))
  • if you stay around a campfire for 30-60 seconds you get a rest buff; it can stack. If i remember correcly the buff increases saminia regen. (max stack 100)
  • a day/night cycle in szone online takes about 3hours in real life. (great for some traveling plans)
  • using any gun improves your adaptation for the specific gun and once it reaches 100%, you get bonus for accuracy and reload speed?
  • you can suppress the 'click' giving away your position when approaching someone elses sight radius by detaching all your flashlights?
  • you will be logged out of the game automatically after 30 minutes of inactivity (so don't stay away to long if you are sitting near a campfire and decide to go afk for the rest buff.)
Must haves.
(to be filled in ONCE MORE AGAIN BY CHAMARA...♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ FINISH YOUR STUFF)

  • Binoculars: Every stalker should have a pair of binoculars handy. They are 7k from the M12 science camp, and you will find them helpful when trying to identify a distant stalker or observe some mutants from a safe distance.

  • AMGD: More expensive than the MGD(P) that you are given by the Sour in the beginning quest, but the extra money that you pay for an AMGD would have been spent on batteries and a larger backpack if you stick with the MGD. Weighs half as much as the MGD and consumes significantly less batteries as well. You can't go wrong with this.

  • Medkits: There are three types of medkit ingame, the Car Medkit, the Medium Medkit, and the Paramedic Medkit. The Car Medkit has 3 charges, costs about 150 rubles, and heals you the slowest. Nobody really cares if you lose it. The Medium Medkit is a bit more pricey, has adequate health restoration, but still nobody really cares if it's lost. The Paramedic Medkit is the most valuable. It has 9 charges, and a single charge will restore your entire health bar in a few seconds. Unlike the Car and Medium Medkits, Paramedics have a limited stock, so buy them while supplies last. Nobody really cares if you lose it, but if you happen to find one, then good for you

Backpacks can be obtained when you get to the settlement that the gourmet is at. The backpacks are sold inside one of the nearby buildings.

I was just wondering how you get your first backpack?
Havnoname  [author] 1 Feb, 2016 @ 4:32pm
as long as the flashlight is the right kind for your gun (pretty sure there is 2 types)
Pagan Nova 1 Feb, 2016 @ 4:17pm
yeah, though I see they can be bought from the repairman, at the starting station. was just confused. you just have a list of "must haves" and moving at night without a light, can be annoying. (still on map 1)
