Monsters Love You is a cute and casual little visual novel / choose-your-adventure game. This guide may seem confusing if you are reading it to prepare for playing and haven’t yet played the game; but I assure you once you start playing it should all quickly make sense.

This game uses an auto-save feature and a single save slot. In order to “naturally” earn all the achievements one would have to complete the game at least 14 times: 7 times to the dissolution/ascension ceremony and 7 times to the true end. “Ain’t nobody got time for that.”

Using the method I outline in this guide, you will be able to earn all Steam achievements by only playing through the game 2 full times, with a handful of small-section repetitions. By the time you finish all the steps you should have had the opportunity to see all the scenarios and all of the endings with minimal repetition of the same scenes. If at the end of this process you feel like there was more to be seen in the game (there isn’t) then you can always play through again.

Be warned that you will only earn all achievements in steam, and you will not have a single save file with all the in-game achievements unlocked simultaneously. This is because in order to do this you will need to copy, delete, and paste the save file in your computer’s user directory to manually create a multiple-save situation and “reload” saves by pasting over the true save in the directory several times.

For Windows users the save file is located: AppData\Roaming\com.radialgames.MonsterLovesYou

Each time you copy, delete, and paste a save file into the directory you will lose your in-game
achievement progress. Oh well. Steam achievements are earned for good once earned.

First you will want to disable cloud-sync while you do this. Next you will want to create a folder where you keep track of the various “copies” of saves you will be making. So every time you reach a point where you want to manually “reload” the save that you copied, you will need to exit the game, go into the directory and delete the save in there and then paste the save file you want to use. It is a simple process.

This game plays like a choose-your-adventure visual novel where you must meet certain criteria by certain points in the story to unlock certain endings. I am not going to go over the criteria for how to reach the endings in this guide because there are already 2 steam guides which explain how to do that and there is no reason for me to make a 3rd guide explaining that. Once you have checked out the other guides and understand what the criteria are for reaching all the endings then you can begin to strategically conquer the game. I provided a brief step-by-step method that I used to efficiently tackle the achievements, and see all the content/endings in about 2 hours of gameplay.

Play the game trying to get as much respect and as many points in the 5 characteristic categories as possible. When you reach the end of adulthood and are ready for your dissolution/ascension ceremony, make a copy of your save: save1. Using this save to “reload” 6 times you will earn:

• Dissolution Into Bravery
  
• Dissolution Into Cleverness
  
• Dissolution Into Ferocity
  
• Dissolution Into Honesty
  
• Dissolution Into Kindness
  
• Legend of Departure

Now use save1 but become an elder. You will have high respect, so move through the elder phase building good relations with both humans and monsters. When you reach the end of the elder phase, create a new copy of your save: save2. Using this save to “reload” 2 times you will earn:

• Peace, Combined Prosperity
  
• War, Endless Fighting

Reload save1 and play through the elder phase 2 more more times, doing what is necessary to earn:

• War, All Humans Dead
  
• Monster Exodus

Now start a new game from the very beginning. Keep your respect between 38-42 as you play the younger stages. You need it to be high enough to become an elder, but still under 50. Earn high scores on 4 of the 5 characteristic categories but keep one very low. Create a save just before the dissolution/ascension ceremony: save3. Using the characteristic that you kept with a low score you can earn:

• Dissolution Into Mediocrity

Reload save3 but become an elder. Once becoming an elder create another save: save4 You will have low respect, so move through the elder phase a few more times by reloading save4 and earn the final achievements:

• Monsters Are Pets
  
• War, All Monsters Dead
  
• Undercover Neurosurgeon
