@BarbieGirl: Ultimate solution for this issue so far I have found is this: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=540758804 - small mod which adds search box (activated with hotkey) to the in-game asset selector and also all the custom assets.
It's used like this: you press the hotkey, search box appears, you enter "IHT" or "GBX" or whatever common substring of the item you wish to place... and then all placeable compositions which contain that substring in the title will be filtered.
Works like a snap! The mod is non-intrusive towards your city or save file and from my understanding only changes the UI by enabling that kind of search filter - therefore it should be the safest kind of mod one can have and an essential one, one is that advanced to use custom assets.

thank you for your mod.
my city keeps growing :-)
It's a vanilla problem, not one of your mod.
I thought that you might have an idea how to solve this because you use them. Just built a walkway in a straight line. Then try to add a walkway at the end. The first one gets demolished.
After some testing it seems that the walkway snaps to the other if I built the first verticaly. when I built the first horizontal it doesn't snap in and demolishes instead.
