The cubes act as great turret shield. Also the most tedious and annoying map I have ever played.

I found a secret way! When the funnel thingie picks up the turret, you can actually go up that yourself and skip a part from the level!

Nifty! I didn't use 1/2 of the turret-avoidance mechanics (it seemed) but got my companion, mostly un-dirtied, to the exit socket. Seemed to end up with a surplus of round cubes though; perhaps the 'spawn' action should also remove any previous one?
