Creating Tug Missions
This is part 6 of the European Ship Simulator mission editor tutorial. If you’ve not seen our previous guides, it is recommended that you read them first. In this video we’re going to show you how to create a tug mission.

To create a tugging trigger, first select your player ship, in this case the tugboat and create a new trigger. Now, de select the player ship and spawn an AI ship. Select your player ship once more and place the trigger we created over the top of the AI ship, make sure to increase the scale of the trigger so it covers the entire AI ship but also leaves some room for the Tugboat to manoeuvre into position.

Once this is complete, select the waypoint and click on the tug icon in the trigger tool box. This should open up the tug box, click on the check box to enable this.

Next you will need to enter the ship ID number in the box below the tug check box. You can find out the ID number for an AI ship by selecting the AI ship, you may need to temporarily move the trigger to select it. The ID number will appear in the selected ship box on the left. The ID number for this ship is 4 because I deleted a few AI ships I placed down earlier. The next ship I place will be 5 and so on.

Select the player ship again and place the trigger back over the top of the AI ship. This time, enter 4 in the box below the checkbox in the tug menu.

In order to create triggers that require the ship to be tugged through, select your player ship and create a new trigger. Now, in the trigger properties edit the trigger ship number to match the number of the ship that you would like to pass through the trigger. In this case, our AI ships ID number is 4, so enter that into this box.

To create anchor triggers that require us to dock an AI ship, select the player ship and place down another trigger. Now, select the Anchor icon and click the check box. The waypoint will turn red, symbolising an anchor trigger. Now, edit the trigger ship in the trigger properties menu to tell the mission editor which ship you want to dock. In this case we’ll enter 4 as that’s the player ship we want to dock.

That’s it for tug missions. In the next part we’ll show you how to create fast travel points.
