General Tips and Tricks
  • Don't build your harvesters right next to each other! Space them out to reduce cost and increase income. Try to place harvesters in "smart" locations that have plenty of resources but are unwanted as a location for a base.

  • Move walkers out of the way of your harvesters! If walkers are in the range of a harvester and on a critical tile, they will immediately die on your turn; you won't be able to save them.

  • Capture enemy buildings, especially if they are unguarded. Enemy loaded cannons, harvesters, and armories are very important to capture.

  • If you can't have your money no-one can! If enemy troops will soon take one of your harvesters and you can't reinforce it, self-desruct the harvester.

  • Cannon explosions are generally much easier to use vs. critical tiles than harvester self-destructs.

  • Defend and secure your own buildings! If they are connected to enemy land via a land bridge, garrison walkers there to help defend. This is especially important with harvesters and loaded cannons.

  • Greed Corp is like chess. Come with a plan or go home crying.

The next sections will detail actual tactics.
The Basesitter
This particular tactic revolves around creating an island for yourself that no-one else can touch. One using this tactic usually uses harvesters to carve out the land and make their island home.

As we can see here, The empire is building harvesters to isolate themselves from war, and effectively "turtle".

A turtler will send out units via carrier once he has the funding.

An effective way to stop them from turtling is by using carriers and cannons.

In this screenshot, the cartel cannon was effective against the turtling empire, and you will be too! note that you will have to completely destroy the island if they are to lose the game.
Capture all the things
This particular strategy uses the ideology of constantly seeking out and capturing unguarded enemy buildings. Buildings left astray can become a part of your empire if you seek them out.

here we can see the pirates planning on taking a cartel harvester. Though risky, it could prove proifatble.

As one can see here, it did prove easy to capture, and the cartel will need time to send in backup if they ever want to reclaim it.

Note that a harvester constantly being reclaimed each turn will never harvest.

This strategy can also be dealt with for the most part by securing your buildings. Don't leave buildings unattended!
Harvest all the things
This strategy is used mostly by new players, but can prove useful against land-preserving enemies.
The idea is to build harvesters everywhere, most importantly near the enemy. One using this strategy gains lots of money, but loses lots of land. Be sure to have armories and carriers ready so that you can invade the enemy when your land inevitably collapses.

Here we can see the cartel using this strategy. Note that the harvesters are all clumped together, this usually isn't necessary or useful in any way, and also costs more to build.

Against this strategy all you can do is secure your land with walkers, even if there are no buildings there.
Build all the things
This tactic may prove helpful if you frequently run out of walkers. However, it does have its faults. Having too many buildings can prove itself as a hinderance to your victory because enemies have more land and buildings to capture, not to mention the costs of construction. You really only need a few armories to build up your walkers. However, building also can prolong your death because as long as you have any building or walker (even a harvester), you're still in the game.

Here we can see the pirates building more than they can defend.
and here we can see how the freemen immediately invaded and took advantage of this strategy using carriers.

As one can probably guess, the best counter to this strategy is the Capture all the things! strategy.
"Land War" aka Offensive Defense tactic
The Land War tactic is an early-mid game tactic often employed by defensive, land preserving players. The computer AI almost never tries to execute this. Basically, what the tactic entails is attempting to expand the amount of defendable land you own by aggressively producing walkers and invading enemy or neutral terrirtory. This only works if a player is efficient with harvester placement and does not waste funds, because any player attempting to execute this will need all the funds they can acquire to overpower other factions' land.

In this example, the Cartel harvested enough of its own land to economically overpower its opponents and snag the high ground through a land bridge. If you are hoping to engage in a land war in one of your own games, remember to keep land bridges intact for as long as possible, as they allow cheaper walker movement and the opportunity to invade.
In the end, we can see that the Cartel player was successful in overpowering the Pirates, and now has more developed land than they started with, providing a better defense in the late game where carrier attacks become common.

Here we can see a more defensive employment of this tactic by the Freemen, who aren't doing particularly well economically, and they have powerful enemies surrounding them, eager to invade. However, they have kept land bridges intact to the rest of the Northern part of the map, while their enemies have destroyed their only land-based way to reach the rest of the map through harvesters.

Fortunately for the Freemen, they were able to claim the Northen part of the map quite easily due to having access to the land bridges, and used harvesters to destroy the main part of their territory to prevent further invasion by the Empire and Pirates.
Proper Harvester Placement
Build your own harvesters on areas that you will not use. Harvesters always destroy the tile they are placed on and potentially others around them. Make sure your harvesters are safe, profitable, and that you still have plenty of land left over.

This particular cartel player is very good at placing harvesters, as shown here.

You can also use harvesters as tools to destroy your opponent's land. This is a very common tactic when dealing with islands, because most troops stationed there will not be able to escape being destroyed by the harvester.

You are planning an air strike on the cartel and plan to drop a harvester where you land. What tile would be best to attack?

If you guessed the center tile, you were right. Armories and armed cannons are most important to take when invading via carriers. Note that the cannon in this situation was not armed.

As we can now see, placing a harvester on the central tile will destroy the entire island. Always place a harvester on the highest tile when aiming to destroy your opponent's land.

Note that the enemy can and will capture the harvester, but it will continue to mine the tiles next to itself and eventually destroy the land, even if owned by another player.

Carriers are expensive. Don't be afraid to use as many walkers as possible to get the center of an island, since if you don't destroy it completely, you'll need to build even more carriers.

actually it can sometimes be cheaper to not invade the center of an iosland due to its heavy defense and instead just drop a single walker somewhere closeby to place a miner to save money and troops
