Introduction
As a beginner you might wonder how nearly everybody else seems to exactly know what they are doing during their shaman turn. With this guide - explaining the normal mode - you might learn some things on your way to become a good shaman.

When do you become shaman?
You become a shaman when you have the most points on the username list right next to the chat. You gain 16 points by being first, 14 points by being second and 12 points by being third in a round. Simply completing the map gives you 10 points while dying gives you 1 extra point.

Why is a shaman turn so necessary?
You gain saves from helping mice to get cheese and/or get to the hole by building for them. Plus, a shaman round is very fun when you know what to do.

Beginning in Normal Mode
As a beginner in Transformice you will start with the normal shaman mode only. This mode is indicated by a feather on your mouse's head which points upwards.

Objects
What can you summon?
In your shaman turn you will find a box filled with some objects in the right corner of your screen.

starting with the object at the top left corner and ending with the object at the bottom right corner

  • Arrow: Pointing at something in the map or putting anchors on summoned objects
  • Spirit: Moving mice or objects in another direction; for example if you put a spirit under a mouse it will fly in the air
  • Balloon: Spawning balloons so mice can jump on top of it, or: attaching mice to it, or: building with balloons (especially in hard or divine mode)
  • Rune: Runes normally float in certain directions and make objects (or less importantly mice) bend to a different direction
  • Small Box: For making mice jump on it, for example if you accidentally placed a board too high
  • Big Box: For example for creating a space for mice to walk through when you attempt to build
  • Anvil: Weighs a lot and can put weight on objects (or less importantly mice) so they fall through the screen
  • Small Board: Very important for building!
  • Long Board: Also very important for building! ;)
  • Ball If you attach it to another object mice can also jump on it to reach higher places. In some vanilla maps they also explode.
  • Cannon Down: Cannons - just like cannon balls - accelerate mice or objects in a certain direction, often throwing them off screen and (speaking of mice) to their deaths
  • Cannon Right
  • Cannon Left
  • Ice: If a mouse trolls or simply can't either get the cheese or get to the hole in time you can choose the ice (or simply press "F") to freeze the mouse
Anchors and Transparency
  • Red Anchors: Only work on boards! Select a board, press "B" and summon it. Boards with red anchors are kind of "fix points" in the map.
The red anchor always stays in the center of a board - in shaman mode it can never be on the sides
These boards can't be moved - apart from rotating around their own centers - if you place them in the air. I advice to place boards with red anchors on grounds so they'll stay fixed.
If you want to fix an object you can put a board with a red anchor over it, but remember: you can't put a board with a red anchor over an object twice!

A board with a red anchor floating in the air

  • Yellow Anchors: You can attach objects with yellow anchors to other objects. Press "C" - if you want you can press "C" several times so the anchor is at one of your object's sides
Your attached object will remain in a rather fixed positions. If you attach several boards to each other the construction might become a bit unstable though. You might want to fix it with a board with a red anchor then.

A board with a yellow anchor attached to a board with a red anchor, placed on ground. Simple building!

  • Green Anchors: You can attach objects with green anchors to other objects. Press "V" - if you want you can press "V" several times so the anchor is at one of your object's sides
Your attached object will eventually respond to gravity or other mice's touchings. It is very hard to make stable constructions with green anchors (as in Divine Mode) only! I'd not recommend it to beginners to start with.

Two boards with green anchors attached to a board with red anchors. The long board doesn't fall downwards, because it is still placed on ground, but the small board falls downwards

  • Transparency Press "Space" to make any selected object invisible. It still appears on the map, but mice can run through it.

A transparent big box with a yellow anchor which is attached to a transparent board with a red anchor. Note how I practically stand inside that box
Tipps
  • You have a tightly set summoning range defined by a blue circle around you
  • You need to keep pressing your left mouse key for about a second if you want to build something
  • Scroll your mouse wheel or press "X" or "Y" (on a QWERTY keyboard; "Z" instead of "Y" on a QWERTZ keyboard) to rotate objects when selected!
  • You can attach yellow and green anchors to other objects (in case of balloon also to mice) only!
  • You might as well test your newly learned objects in an empty room. You can type /room [your wanted extraordinary name] in the chat and test the shaman mode out.
Let's Build!
In the following list I will give you some building constructions for your orientation. You don't need to do everything as shown -- there are always several correct ways to shaman successfully. Just experiment with it!
  • Building Horizontally:

I placed a transparent board with a red anchor on the ground, attached a long board with a yellow anchor on the side to it, attached 2 other long boards to it and fixed one of the boards with a transparent board with a red anchor in the process, because the construction started to become unstable

  • Building Vertically (Up):

I placed a transparent board with a red anchor on the ground, attached a transparent big box with a yellow anchor to it so mice can run through, placed a long board with a yellow anchor on its top and fixed it with a small board with a red anchor, added a small box with a yellow anchor to the board with the red anchor, because the other board was too high, attached another long board to the other long board, added a transparent small board to the left for mice who can't walljump with cheese and finally added a small board with a yellow anchor to it

  • Building Vertically (Down):

I placed a transparent board with a red anchor under the ground, attached a transparent board with a yellow anchor to it, fixed it with a board with a red anchor and built a way up with a board with a yellow anchor. Important: Always use a new transparent board when you want to "go" down, because your construction will glitch if you put more than one board with a red anchor on it!
