The problem is that everything in the save file warps with you so that will include Aeris flags. She is flagged as removed from the party after the temple so finishing the temple means there is no way to recruit her afterwards, because when you warp to before the temple, your new flags override the games old flags.
This is often why it is better to warp her forward when her flags treat her like a regular party member than it is to warp backwards and deal with the temple.
I tend to think of legitimacy, when it comes to exploits, as 'using game input only', which separates this kind of thing from save editing for me. I'm sure others define it in different ways. But yeah, it's great to be able to pull off one of the all-time impossible feats in a 'legit' way.
Oh well, it's still a great fun glitch to play with, anyway.
